I cringe at the use of that word (victim) in this context. As if someone did something to someone, and someone else owes sympathy and restitution. The victim isn’t the alcoholic... it’s their family members and others who suffer from the effects of the alcoholics poor decisions. The alcoholic is the victimizer of their own family and friends. Once he can look at it in that context he is free to own and fix the problem.

All of which is probably true. But it's irrelevant to the question of what causes alcoholism ~ and I identified three causes or you, two of them genetic.

Then, there are folks with liver damage from non-alcohol related causes and they could become alcoholics as well because of the damage.

Best bet is that if you have a Sa'ami ancestor you know about, or a Sioux/Lakota Indian ancestor, who was an alcoholic, you should not consume alcohol under any circumstances ~ EVER!

Oh, you are very right. Many abusers were abused, and the cycle keeps going. Imprinting is a fact. Especially about the power and the violence. But orientation doesn’t always imprint. Many SNAP (victims of sex abuse bu any kind of authority as a child - clergy, teachers, etc) members are hetero male adults that are still hetero and their homo rapes as kids have devastated their lives.

You can look up the genetics of alcoholism and there's the process all laid out for you right down to the detailed chemistry.

I think you are confounding genetic alcoholism with alcohol abuse. Two different things ~ many people ~ the majority actually, who are unable to metabolize alcohol do not use it and so do not develop any of the pathologies associated with the condition ~ that is, they do not develop alcohol abuse problems.

Whether they were made that way or just think they were, epigenetics tell us that things aren't always the way they seem ~ that genes can be turned off, or turned on ~ and this may be the route to curing the problem.

I think I already mentioned that this guy has a TEST and once that's perfected (he says within 6 months of field trials) people can get on with performing that test on their unborn and murdering them.

40 years later there would be no homosexuals in our society.

Quite possibly they'll have a pill to take that will make sure your baby doesn't grow up to be queer ~

Thanks for a well thought out and reasoned post, with which I completely agree.

The article makes complete sense...no gay gene, just another anomaly, like many others, that occur during fetal development in the womb. Although some behavior is chosen, these are also God’s children having nothing to do with their condition and are no less deserving of love, as are we all.

We should be patient and wait to see how this theory is tested and plays out.

There are countless numbers of former homosexuals. Or people who were not homosexual but in midlife at some point “found out” that they were.

Humans are much, much more than genes and chemicals.

That's what epigenetics is about ~ we are much more than genes or chemicals ~ we have powerful information processing systems and if one of them is messed up all sorts of things could happen.

Regarding those who overcome homosexuality, you have to remember that epigenetics also claims that methylation changes over the course of a lifetime.

How methylation over multiple generations finally results in a genetic change is still a question, but it's suspected that there is a process that does that.

I have no doubt the same Leftwingtards who want you to hire homosexual Mexican lawnboys will want you to make sure your pre-borns are tested for homosexuality so they may be killed.

I and no one else I’ve ever read on FR has ever said that all boys who were molested become homosexuals. Ever.

But in various studies at least 80% of homosexuals have said they were molested which includes seduction, when young, by homosexuals.

People who want to believe that homosexuals are born that way (whatever the speculated mechanism) cling to the theory, and ignore facts.

You cling to this idea for reasons of your own.

BTW I was a tomboy as a child and I did not turn out homosexual. I hated wearing dresses, played cowboys and Indians, never went for the baby dolls (they didn’t have Barbie dolls when I was young), read boys’ type adventure books, and so on. Did not like, ever, frilly girlie stuff.

Now people would have tried to convince me that I was a homosexual and who knows what would have happened to me.

This theory explains the children that come out different. It might not be the only answer to sexual orientation nd imprinting (molestation) may also play a role, but no doubt something is hard wired as well. There are many children who play differently than their gender. They were not molested. They are good people, beloved children of Gd, but they act like the opposite gender, not their own. This does demand study. Epigenetics helps to explain these discrepancies because there is no gay “gene,” just gay behavior and sometimes looks as well.

Sorry Yaelle, there is still no solid proof to prove it is nothing more than the Environment they are raised in and the choices they make to ignore God, and please themselves instead of God, i.e. a total surrender to selfishness instead of to God.
