SMALL DOSES

I'm just an itty bitty Cuddle Kittie.
It doesn't matter if I'm a girl cat or boy.
Absolutely too cute for words.
Always ready for hugs of joy
Or gentler ones when you have the flu.

An orange tiger striped ball of fluff
Who doesn't talk too much or think too loud.
That's your job when your world gets too absurd.
Let my fur and soft purrs do their stuff.
I don't care if it's good news or bad.
Whatever is inside needs to be worked out.

Cats know humans are irrational, emotional zoos.
Even if it's Cry Your Eyes Out Sad
I won't complain when my damp fur gets wetter.
That just means you'll pet it away
When you smile and begin to feel better.

If I Were A Cat
by Mary Byrd

If I were a cat, I'd be the best cat
That I possibly could be.
I'd come as a present
Wrapped with a big bow.

I'd delight a little girl
And possibly a beau.
I'd be cute and furry
Cuddly and fat.

I'd rub on your leg
And sit in your lap.
Lick your sweet face
And tickle your feet.

My favorite foods would be;
A bowl full of milk,
And a stinky old rat. I'd smack my lips
And stifle a burp.

But best of all
I'd bring joy to all
When I played with my toys
And purred in your ear.

On Your Birthday
Unknown

May your spirit keep the freedom
of a butterfly in spring
and your heart be filled always
with the joys of simple things.
May your essence claim the freshness
of the new laid morning dew.
All of this...and more...
is my Birthday wish for you.

Hummingbird Cake

Vegetable cooking spray
3 cups plus 2 tsp. all-purpose flour, divided
1 tsp. baking soda
1-3/4 cups sugar plus 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1-3/4 cups mashed banana (5–6)
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple, drained
Cream Cheese Frosting (recipe follows)

Coat 3 (9-inch) round cake pans with cooking spray.

Sprinkle 2 tsp. flour evenly into pans, shaking to coat.

Combine remaining 3 cups flour and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl.

Stir together eggs, applesauce, and oil; add
to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened (do not beat). Stir in mashed banana, vanilla extract, and pineapple. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 23 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove layers from pans; cool completely on wire rack.

Cream Cheese Frosting

8 oz. pkg. reduced-fat cream cheese (unsoftened)
3 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 Tbsp. light butter (unsoftened)
6 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Beat cream cheese and butter at high speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating at low speed just until smooth. Stir in vanilla and pecans.

Yields 3-1/2 cups.

Spread Cream Cheese Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake

Happy Birthday, IA!

Open Bible

Read:
Psalm 119:41-48

I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. -Psalm 119:46

Bible In One Year: Judges 16-18

cover Many hotels in countries around the world have a Bible in each room. Just open a drawer and you'll find it.

But during a recent hotel stay, I was surprised to see an open Bible placed prominently on a table in the lobby. And when I reached my room, instead of the Bible being in a drawer, it was lying open on the desk. My guess is that the owner decided to draw people's attention to the presence of God and His Word as they travel-often alone and sometimes in great need.

This caused me to ponder my own response to the Scriptures. Is the Bible open in my heart for people to see? Do my actions give evidence that I'm meditating on God's Word?

Psalm 119 is filled with praise for the wonder of God's Word, along with the writer's promise to live by it and share it with others. "I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts," he wrote. "I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. And I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love. . . . And I will meditate on Your statutes" (vv.45-47).

Since every life is an open book, let's seek to demonstrate the love and power of God's Word, the Bible, for everyone to see. -David McCasland

We are the only Bible
The careless world will read;
We are the sinner's gospel,
We are the scoffer's creed. -Flint

Of all the commentaries on the Scriptures, good examples are the best. -John Donne

It doesn't mention shedding and shredding.

Post #198 doesn't mention shedding either, though a discreet slip of the décolletage has proved through the ages to be an effective way of compelling men to action.
