Yeah, it's really nice here. Mid-60s and sunny. You have a lovely day, too, Amy. :^D
Good afternoon, Kuds.
I posted a graphic in post #72 to accompany your cute poem. I hope you liked it.
Jets won so you should be having a great Sunday. :)
Good morning, IA.
Hope I caught you before you floated away. :)
When is the rain suppose to stop? I think they are saying about Tuesday here. We will probably have fog by the 18th. I hope our flight can get out of Fresno.
Have a semi-dry Sunday. Did you buy an ark yet?
Thank you for the beautiful poem and graphic!
Good afternoon, Al_P
Thanks for the cartoon. It probably doesn't look funny to you, does it?
We keep praying that the stuff kicks the cancer's butt. Please keep us informed as to how you are doing.
Hope you are having a pretty good day.
Take care, FRiend.
No time to BUILD one! Noah's Used Arks has one I can offord.
Teachers are paid too much! I'm fed up with teachers and their hefty salaries for only 9 months work! What we need here is a little perspective. If I had my way, I'd pay teachers babysitting wages.
That's right. Instead of paying these outrageous taxes, I'd give them $3.00 an hour. And, I'm only going to pay them for 5 hours, not planning time. That would be $15.00 a day. Each parent should pay $15.00 a day for these teachers to baby sit their children. Even if they have more than one child, it's still cheaper than private daycare.
Now how many children do they teach a day - maybe 20? That's $15.00 x 20 = $300.00 a day. But remember, they only work 180 days a year! I'm not going to pay them for all the vacations: $300.00 x 180 = $54,000.
(Just a minute my calculator must need batteries.)
What will teachers say about those who have 10 years of experience and a master's degree? Well, maybe (just to be fair) they could get the minimum wage. We can round that off to about $6.00 an hour, times 5 hours, times 20 children. $6.00 x 5 x 20. That's $600 a day times 180 days. That's only $108,000.
Wait a minute! There is something wrong here........
I sense your outrage Victoria.
The major problem we have with the teachers and the high taxes is the dreaded "Pension system"..
I think a teacher is worth 50 to 60 a year, "if they are held accountable for the success or failure of their students".
The biggest killer for us is the retirement system and tenior.
Teachers, police, firefighters, state, county and "public service" workers to include politicans have the best retirement plans, health care and benefits.
It was in the old days when a person didn't get their retirement plan untill they were around 60.
Now they all retire after 20 years and get their full pension, pay NO state tax!
They move out of state and put nothing back into the very system that affords them the benefit of retiring early.
Also double and triple dipping....
Did you know that Alan Hevesi our state comptroller is currently receiving 2 pensions plus collecting pay as NYS comptroller.
We pay him over 300,000 a year yet both pensions are "state tax free"..........................
They collect more money from their pensions every year than you and I will ever think of earning, or should I say "dream" of earning.
When the NYState pension system invested their (our) money in the stock market and lost billions because of it, we are paying them back all they lost and more to keep up with the current rate paid out to the retired....
Her heinous can retire right now and receive her salary, plus her benefits for the rest of her life, plus a health care plan that we could never afford. This for only 4 years in office.
It used to be the days that school taxes paid for the upkeep and maintenance of schools, that no longer exists.
We have to pay more for it now with bonds and grants.
My sister in law started teaching a few years ago, her first year she told us
"if I hear anything more about tenior I'll scream".
The biggest obsticle to a good education.
Once you get tenior it is virtually impossible to get rid of a teacher that fails.
Please look at my website and click on the link that says Promary Challenge. We are just starting this and hope it will gain strength and speed across the state.
I am the master of ceremonies at this event.

Is that right? I didn't know that.
The biggest obsticle to a good education. Once you get tenior it is virtually impossible to get rid of a teacher that fails.
That's right, and there are some bad teachers out there.
I'll take a look at your website, Mayor, thanks.
By the way, I didn't write that post. It's meant as a joke... sounds real to me.
I didn't know that, I found flaws in it!
The biggest flaw is the fact that overhead for the daycare facility is not factored in.
It's pretty good though.
It makes it funny because there is truth in that. By the way, did you like the song I posted for you?
Yes, I sang that a few times too!
Thank you for that... : )
Happy Sunday FRiends! My Colts won big today over the Denver Broncos, 49-24. Glad for the win, but the game was such a blowout I was tempted to take a nap. Next Sunday at New England should be a better game.
LOL. Great post, Victoria.
Watch out, I'm a Patriots man! hehe!
Next Sunday should be exciting! I don't you'll see a repeat of last year's game. ;-)
You're welcome.
