Daniel 4
1-17 Nebuchadnezzar has a second dream

'The tree grew large and became strong
And its height reached to the sky,
And it was visible to the end of the whole earth.

'Its foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant,
And in it was food for all.
The beasts of the field found shade under it,
And the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches,
And all living creatures fed themselves from it.
13 'I was looking in the visions in my mind as I lay on my bed, and behold, an angelic watcher, a holy one, descended from heaven.

" Chop down the tree and cut off its branches,
Strip off its foliage and scatter its fruit;
Let the beasts flee from under it
And the birds from its branches.

"Yet leave the stump with its roots in the ground,
But with a band of iron and bronze around it
In the new grass of the field;
And let him be drenched with the dew of heaven,
And let him share with the beasts in the grass of the earth.

"Let his mind be changed from that of a man
And let a beast's mind be given to him,
And let seven periods of time pass over him.

"This sentence is by the decree of the angelic watchers
And the decision is a command of the holy ones,
In order that the living may know
That the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind,
And bestows it on whom He wishes
And sets over it the lowliest of men."

v.19-28 Daniel Interprets the Vision

The tree is Nebuchadnezzar that became large and grew strong reached to the sky and his dominion to the end of the earth. The decree of the Most High that the king be driven away from mankind and his dwelling place be with the beast of the field for a period of seven. Seven of time will pass until the king recognize that the Most High is ruler over realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.

v.26 26 'And in that it was commanded to leave the stump with the roots of the tree, your kingdom will be assured to you after you recognize that it is Heaven that rules.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Question: I find this very interesting that the Most High tells him his future. Why do you think he did that?
v.27 27 'Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you: break away now from your sins by doing righteousness and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.'

v.28 Nebuchadnezzar did not repent and it all came true.
v.30 30 "The king reflected and said, 'Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?'

v.31-33 Nebuchadnezzar was driven away from mankind.
v.34-But at the end of that time Nebuchadnezzar raised his head toward heaven and he blessed the Most High and honored Him who lives forever....
v.37 37 "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What can we learn about GOD from this chapter? Somehow I think I am missing something. I am surprised that GOD gave Nebuchadnezzar forewarning and a chance to repent. Do you think GOD does this for us and we don't see it in our life?

Seven million threatened as floods cut off India and Bangladesh

More than seven million people were in danger last night as the worst floods in more than a decade spread across India, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Entire villages have been swept away. More than 100 people have died in India in the past few days alone, and the waters are still rising.

The scale of the disaster is immense. More than two million people have been left homeless in India's Assam state. Another million are homeless in nearby Bihar. Millions more are trapped in their homes. Many have been forced to take their families on to the roofs.

North-east India was cut off from the rest of the country for a second day yesterday. Railway bridges were swept away. Roads were buried. The air force sent helicopters to drop food and tarpaulins to those stranded on rooftops.

The total death toll across South Asia since flooding began in June is 270, but millions are at risk from water-borne diseases. At least 12 people were buried alive in their homes yesterday by landslides triggered by the flooding. Nineteen drowned.

"This is the worst flooding in recent memory," Tarun Gogoi, the chief minister of Assam, said. Twenty-two of the state's 24 districts were under water. "The high water current has washed away rows and rows of villages. The condition of the people is really devastating."

The famous tea gardens of Assam are under water. The endangered Indian one-horned rhino is in peril from the floods: a game reserve which contains 1,600 rhinos has been flooded. Manmohan Singh, the Indian Prime Minister, has approved 1.8bn rupees (£21m) in emergency aid for Assam alone.

The local authorities were issuing pleas for help yesterday. There is a serious shortage of boats, and the continuing bad weather has made it hard for emergency workers to reach some areas.

To imagine the scale of the flooding is hard unless you have seen the landscape. North-east India and Bangladesh make up one of the largest flood plains in the world. The Brahmaputra river, which has burst its banks in Assam, is immense: its normal course is wider than a European flood even when it is not overflowing.

The entire area is criss-crossed with tributaries, most of them twice as wide as the Thames. When it floods here, it is on a biblical scale.

Scores of people die in monsoon floods almost every year in this area; last year there were hundreds of deaths. But, ominously, reports from the region say these are the worst floods in more than a decade.

In the Bangladeshi city of Sylhet, which was cut off from the rest of the country with parts of knee-deep in water, officials said the floods were the worst since 1988, when two-thirds of the country was under water.

Ten people drowned in Bangladesh yesterday, including a mother and her young son. The worst-affected areas have been upstream in India and Nepal. But in Nepal the waters are subsiding. Bangladesh is bracing itself as the flood waters move down the Ganges and Brahmaputra and the heavy rains continue.

In India, even as the North-east staggered under the onslaught, drought warnings were issued for much of the rest of the country. While the monsoon has been heavier than usual in the North-east, across much of India there has been much less rain than expected. Delhi has had just a single hour of rain, at a time of year when torrential downpours are the norm. In the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, nearly 3,000 farmers have committed suicide over the past six years because drought has destroyed their crops. At one end of India they are dying from floods, at the other they are dying from drought.

The previous government backed a scheme that was supposed to solve both problems: a plan to link 30 rivers that would have amounted to diverting the courses of the Ganges and Brahmaputra. Environmentalists said that it would be an ecological disaster, and Bangladesh opposes any attempt to divert the rivers.

That leaves India still needing to find a way to save half its people from the water, and the other half from the lack of it.

Wonder what seven periods of time is?

i found a reference to josephus, who apparently expounded on this question in "antiquities of the jews", book 10, chapter 10, section 6, p. 316 (libraries are our friends lol) - a "time" = 1 year. he developed a penchant for grass and dew baths which he indulged for 7 years....

the term, "time" is also used later (time, times, and an half - 12: 7) in what my version of the KJV titles the "prophecy of the great time of trouble" beginning chapter 12. im thinking its probably used in the prophetic sense then....

DIMITRI DUDUMAN'S PROPHECY

DIMITRI DUDUMAN PASSES (reported by Mark Ensign 5/5/97) Dimitri Duduman has passed on to glory. Before he died he reportedly said that if he died it would be a signal that we are very close to the nuclear destruction of the USA. On this SWR program they discussed current enemy flyovers of Israel to check radar lock-ons and coordinates.

This is brother Duduman's prophecy received April 22, 1996. I prayed, then went to bed. I was still awake, when suddenly I heard a trumpet sound. A voice cried out to me, "Stand!" In my vision, I was in America. I walked out of my home, and began to look for the one who had spoken to me. As I looked, I saw three men dressed alike. Two of the men carried weapons. One of the armed men came to me. "I woke you to show you what is to come," he said. "Come with me." I didn't know where I was being taken, but when we reached a certain place he said "stop here!" A pair of binoculars was handed to me, and I was told to look through them. "Stand there, don't move, and look." he continued. "You will see what they are saying, and what they are preparing for America."

As I was looking, I saw a great light. a dark cloud appeared over it. I saw the president of Russia, a short chubby man, who said he was the president of China, and two others. The last two also said where they were from, but I did not understand. However, I gathered they were part of Russian controlled territory. The men stepped out of the cloud. The Russian president began to speak to the Chinese one. "I will give you the land with all the people, but you must free Taiwan of the Americans. Do not fear, we will attack them from behind."

A voice said to me, "Watch where the Russians penetrate America." I saw these words being written: Alaska; Minnesota; Florida. Then, the man spoke again, "When America goes to war with China, the Russians will strike without warning." The other two presidents spoke, "We, too, will fight for you." Each had a place already planned as a point of attack. All of them shook hands and hugged. Then they all signed a contract. One of them said, "We're sure that Korea and Cuba will be on our side, too. Without a doubt, together, we can destroy America."

The president of Russia began to speak insistently, "Why let ourselves be led by the Americans? Why not rule the world ourselves? They have to be kicked out of Europe, too! Then I could do as I please with Europe!"

The man standing beside me said, "This is what you saw: they act as friends, and say they respect the treaties made together. But everything I've shown you is how it will really happen. You must tell them what is being planned against America. Then, when it comes to pass, the people will remember the words the Lord has spoken. "Who are you?" I asked. "I am the protector of America, America's sin has reached God. He will allow this destruction, for He can no longer stand such wickedness. God however, still has people that worship Him with a clean heart as they do His work. He has prepared a heavenly army to save these people." As I looked, a great army, well armed and dressed in white, appeared before me. "Do you see that?" the man asked? "This army will go to battle to save My chosen ones. Then, the difference between the Godly and the ungodly will be evident."

Late one night, I could not sleep, The children were sleeping on the luggage. My wife and daughter were crying, I went outside and walked around. I didn´t want them to see me cry. I walked around the building, crying and saying, "God! Whey did you punish me? Why did you bring me into this country? I can´t understand anybody. If I try to ask anybody anything, all I hear is, "I don´t know."

I stopped in front of the apartment and sat on a large rock. Suddenly a bright light came toward me. I jumped to my feet because it looked as if a car was coming directly at me, attempting to run me down! I thought the Romanian Secret Police had tracked me to America, and now they were trying to kill me. But it wasn´t a car at all. As the light approached, it surrounded me. From the light I heard the same voice that I had heard so many times in prison.

He said "Dumitru, why are you so despaired?" I said, "Why did you punish me? Why did you bring me to this country? I have nowhere to lay my head down. I can´t understand anybody." He said, "Dumitru, didn´t I tell you I am here with you, also? I brought you to this country because this country will burn." I said, ´then why did you bring me here to burn? Why didn´t you let me die in my own country? You should have let me die in jail in Romania! He said, "Dumitru, have patience so I can tell you. Get on this." I got on something next to him. I don´t know what it was. I also know that I was not asleep. It was not a dream. It was not a vision. I was awake just as I am now.

He showed me all of California and said, "This is Sodom and Gomorrah! All of this, in one day it will burn! Its sin has reached the Holy One." Then he took me to Las Vegas. "This is Sodom and Gomorrah. In one day it will burn." Then he showed me the state of New York. "Do you know what this is?" he asked. I said, "No." He said "This is New York. This is Sodom and Gomorrah! In one day it will burn." Then he showed me all of Florida, "This is Florida." he said. "This is Sodom and Gomorrah! In one day it will burn."

Then he took me back home to the rock where we had begun. "IN ONE DAY IT WILL BURN! All of this I have shown you" - I said, "How will it burn?" He said, "Remember what I am telling you, because you will go on television, on the radio and in churches. You must yell with a loud voice. Do not be afraid, because I will be with you." I said, "How will I be able to go? Who knows me here in America? I don´t know anybody here." He said, "Don´t worry yourself. I will go before you. I will do a lot of healing in the American churches and I will open the doors for you. But do not say anything else besides what I tell you. This country will burn!"

I said, "What will you do with the church?" He said, "I want to save the church, but the churches have forsaken me." I said, "How did they forsake you?" He said, "The people praise themselves. The honor that the people are supposed to give Jesus Christ, they take upon themselves. In the churches there are divorces. There is adultery in the churches. There are homosexuals in the churches. There is abortion in the churches and all other sins that are possible.

Because of all the sin, I have left some of the churches. You must yell in a loud voice that they must put an end to their sinning. They must turn toward the Lord. The Lord never gets tired of forgiving. They must draw close to the Lord, and live a clean life. If they have sinned until now, they must put an end to it, and start a new life as the Bible tells them to live."

I said, "How will America burn?" America is the most powerful country in this world. Why did you bring us here to burn? Why didn´t you at least let us die where ALL the Dudumans have died?"

He said, "Remember this, Dumitru. The Russian spies have discovered where the nuclear warehouses are in America. When the Americans will think that it is peace and safety - from the middle of the country, some of the people will start fighting against the government. The government will be busy with internal problems. Then from the ocean, from Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico,,.." (He told me two other countries, but I didn´t remember what they were.) "...they will bomb the nuclear warehouses. When they explode, America will burn!"

"What will you do with the Church of the Lord? How will you save the ones that will turn toward you?" I asked. He said, "Tell them this: how I saved the three young ones from the furnace of fire, and how I saved Daniel in the lions den, is the same way I will save them."

The angel of the Lord also told me, "I have blessed this country because of the Jewish people who are in this country. I have seven million Jews in this country, but they do not want to recognize the Lord. They didn´t want to thank God for the blessing they received in this country." "Israel doesn´t want to recognize Jesus Christ. They put their faith in the Jewish people in America. But, when America burns, the Lord will raise China, Japan, and other nations to go against the Russians. They will beat the Russians and push them all the way to the gates of Paris.

Over there they will make a treaty, and appoint the Russians as their leaders. They will then unite against Israel." "When Israel realizes she does not have the strength of America behind her, she will be frightened. That´s when she will turn to the Messiah for deliverance. That´s when the Messiah will come. Then, the church will meet Jesus in the air, and he will bring them back with Him to the Mount of Olives. At that time, the battle of Armageddon will be fought."

When I heard all of this I said, "if you are truly the angel of the Lord, and everything you have told me is true, then all you have said must be written in the Bible." He said, "Tell everyone to read from Jeremiah 51:8-15, Revelation chapter 18, and Zechariah chapter 14, where Christ fights against those who possess the earth. After His victory," the angel said, "there will be one flock and one Shepherd. There will be no need for light. The Lamb of God will be the Light. There will be no sickness, no tears, and no deaths. There will only be eternal joy and God will be the ruler. There will be only one language. Only one song. And no need for a translator! .... And, Dumitru," he continued, "a word of warning. If you keep anything from the American people that you are told, I will punish you severely." "How will I know that this is for real -that it will really happen?" I asked. "As a sign that I have spoken to you, tomorrow before you wake, I will send someone to bring you a bed, and at noon I will send you a car and a bucket of honey. After which I will send someone to pay your rent." (See chapter 10, "THROUGH THE FIRE WITHOUT BURNING.") Then the angel left.

WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN?

SEPT. 1984: "From the middle of the country, some of the people will start fighting against the government. The Government will be busy with internal problems. Then..." (The attack will come) Look around you! Look at the rise of the militias. They are in virtually every state and growing in strength and numbers. They are training right now to do battle against the government. One militia leader has recently stated that if the government continues to distance itself from the people, war and revolution is inevitable. All it would take is one incident to unite the militias.

1991: The angel said: "Tell the people of America that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years. If they will turn away from sin and turn back to God, they will make it through the second day to the third day. If they don´t, they will not make it."

NOV. 1993: "I opened a great book with the words "BOOK OF THE GENTILES" scrawled on it. I saw all kinds of names written page after page. When I reached the end of the book, l found that there were one and three quarter pages left blank, unwritten."

JAN. 1996: The angel said to me, "Do you remember how many pages were left to fill when I showed you last time? Now there is but one page left. When this is completed, what I have told you will happen to America." He then told me that the time needed to complete this last page will be shorter.

APRIL 1996 in a vision:
The Russian and Chinese presidents made a contract to fight against America. A voice said to me, "Watch where the Russians penetrate America." I saw the words written: Alaska, Minnesota, Florida. Then the man spoke again, "When America goes to war with China, the Russians will strike without warning."... The presidents of two other countries said, "We too will fight for you." Each had a place already planned as a point of attack... . "Without a doubt, together, we can destroy America .... Everything I have shown you is how it will REALLY happen .... Then, when it comes to pass, the people will remember the words the Lord has spoken."

WHAT TO DO

Everything is ready to happen right now. It will be on a day just like today. "In one day America will burn." It will be a surprise attack just like Pearl Harbor, except this time America will be the target of nuclear weapons. It will happen when we least expect it, only it will be in your city or a place near you. As Americans, our only hope is to turn away from sin to a new life in Jesus Christ.

God is not asking us to do hard things, but to stop lying, cheating, stealing and sinning in all possible ways. He is not telling us to run out of America or run to the mountains or forest to hide. God is telling us to run to Him and He will protect us, even if a nuclear bomb falls right next to us. But without God´s protection, what defense would you have against a nuclear attack.

IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN

If you are a Christian living in sin, you must put an end to it today. Tomorrow will be too late! Just say to God from your heart that you are sorry for what you have done in disgracing the name of God and Jesus to all those around you, through them seeing you living in sin. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and make you clean. God never gets tired of forgiving - it doesn´t matter what you have done in the past, but now go and do not sin anymore!

If you have never prayed to receive the Holy Spirit, then pray everyday without ceasing. He will replace the emptiness inside of you with peace, love and joy. He will guide you in all truth, comfort you in your times of distress and help you say no to sin.

"Many who carry the name of CHRISTIAN are overcome by greed, fornication, drunkenness, and a pursuit for great wealth. Those who live in defilement and meditate upon evil things will have no escape..."

IF YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN

If you are not a Christian and have not received the gift of forgiveness, which God grants freely, then right now ask God for it. Just pray to God from your heart and say that you are sorry for every sin and every evil thought or desire. Ask Jesus to come into your heart; it is the most important thing in your life; be baptized in water and pray everyday without ceasing to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will help you turn your life around so that you can, as Jesus instructed the woman caught in adultery, "Go and sin no more." Get to know God better by reading the Bible. You may find it helpful to start with the gospel of John in the New Testament.

GOD´S PROMISES TO AMERICANS

"The pure in heart will not be punished...Those who are faithful and true, will hear the trumpet of God and the voice of God´s angel crying WAKE UP! They will be told where to go."...l looked down and saw beautiful cities... "This is your refuge when the times of tribulation fall upon California. Your family and all those who hear the voice of the Lord will understand the message of God´s mighty trumpet. "Only the righteous will I save, some out of the midst of the fire."

"I the Lord will work in ways that you cannot imagine, but be Holy."

A great army, well armed and dressed in white, appeared before me. "This army will go to battle to save my chosen ones."

"At the appointed time, I will speak to them like I speak to you as to what they must do."

"I will send a chariot of salvation and take each one out in his appointed time."

Brothers, these aren´t fairy tales. I didn´t come here to ask you for money. I didn´t ask God for money. I came here to tell you the message of God. If you call me, God loves you. That´s what the angel of God told me. "Whoever I love, I want to wake up. I will put on their hearts to call you. Don´t hide anything, or I will punish you." Stop sinning and repent. He will forgive us, and we will have salvation.

I said, "How will you save the church if America will burn?"
He said, "Tell them as I tell you. As he saved the three young men from the oven of fire and Daniel from the mouth of the lion, that is how I will save them. Tell them to stop sinning and repent.

I have blessed this country because of the Jews that are here. I have seven million Jews here. They haven´t tasted war or persecution. God blessed them more than anyone else. Instead of thanking God, they started sinning and doing wickedly. Their sins have reached the Holy One. God will punish them with fire."

Israel doesn´t recognize the Messiah because they place their trust on the power of the Jews in America. When God will hit America, all the nations will be terrified. God will raise up China, Japan, and many other nations, and they will beat the Russians. They will push them back to the gates of Paris. There they will make a peace treaty, but they will make the Russians their leader. All the nations with the Russians as their leader, will go against Israel. It´s not that they want to; God makes them.

Israel doesn´t have the help of the Jews in America anymore. In their terror, when they see what is coming, they call upon the Messiah. The Messiah will come to help Israel. Then the Church of God will meet him in the clouds." (1 Thes 4:16)

Are you ready to meet Jesus Christ? Are your wedding clothes clean? If there are still spots on the clothes of your soul, then the blood of Jesus Christ still has power to cleanse sins. Jesus Christ will live with the church on the Mount of Olives. He himself will fight against all the nations.

I said, "If you are the angel of God, everything you tell me has to be written in the Bible. If it is not, then I can´t tell the Americans."

"Tell them to read Jeremiah 51:8-15. He named it THE MYSTERY BABYLON, THE GREAT ADULTERESS. Also read Revelations Chapter 18, the whole chapter. There it says clearly what will happen to America."

"Tell them because all the nations of the world immigrated into America, and America accepted them. America accepted Buddha, the Devil Church, the Sodomite church, the Mormon Church, and all kinds of wickedness. America was a Christian nation. Instead of stopping them, they went after their gods. Because of this, He named them THE MYSTERY BABYLON.
"So that you know I truly have been sent by God, tomorrow at 9 a.m. someone will come to give you a bed. At 10:30 someone will come to pay your rent. At noon someone will bring you a car and give you a bucket of honey."

Brothers, it happened as the angel had said. At 9 someone rang my doorbell and said, "I brought you a bed. I could not sleep all night long. God told me that you were from Romania and that you need a bed." At 10:30 someone else rang my doorbell and handed me a check for $500 and said, "God told me to bring you $500." At noon someone came and gave me a car and a bucket of honey!

We have to be careful not to think it is not true. A guy says it is Moscow, but it isn´t. Read Revelation 18. It says, "You who sit like a queen, you will never know how you will be widowed. Because of this, in one day, there will be death, famine, and you will be consumed by fire." You might say, "Why?" We trust in God! We have God on our side! On our dollar bill it has "We trust in God." How are our lives? We go after the foreign Gods. The American church has adultery, fornication, sodomy, divorces, and abortions. If we repent with all of our hearts and call Jesus to help us, we will stop sinning. We know that when Jesus comes, we will meet him in the clouds.

The angel also said, "Before the internal problems begin in America, your country (Romania) will have a revolution." Fulfilled December 22, 1989. [EDITOR´S NOTE: Dumitru told me about the revolution in March of 1988, over a year before it occurred!]

JEREMIAH 51:7. Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD´s hand, that made all the earth drunken: The nations have drunk of her wine (evil); therefore, the nations are mad. 8. Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her, take balm for her pain so she may be healed. 9. We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her and let us go every one into his own country, for her judgment reacheth unto heaven and is lifted up even to the skies. 10.

Chinese Paratroopers in California?

A caller recently told talk radio host Art Bell about a disturbing dream: Chinese paratroops landing in California. Bell dismissed the idea as a logistical impossibility. How could the People's Republic sustain a credible invasion against the continental U.S.?

Art Bell has a point. The U.S. would not be an easy country to invade and occupy. Such an invasion would have to be prepared in advance, at great cost. First, there would have to be nuclear and biological strikes to weaken the defenses. China would then need bases, supply stockpiles and intact harbor facilities.

Looking at recent headlines, however, we ought to wonder if invasion preparations have not been underway in plain view. Russia and China have recently conducted joint military exercises in the Pacific. In April Russian bombers tested Alaska's air defenses. It must be recognized that Russia's missile-power and China's unlimited manpower have been joined into one clenched fist.

This represents the fulfillment of KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn’s least-credited prediction about the end of the “Final Phase” of Russia’s long range deception strategy. Writing in his 1984 book, "New Lies for Old," Golitsyn explained:

Before long, the communist strategists might be persuaded that the balance had swung irreversibly in their favor. In that event they might well decide on a Sino-Soviet ‘reconciliation.’ The scissors strategy would give way to the strategy of ‘one clenched fist.’ At that point the shift in the political and military balance would be plain for all to see.

The plan for a joint military campaign against America, waged by Russia and China, was drawn up many years ago, and was explained in 1999 by the highest ranking defector of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Col. Stanislav Lunev (a Chinese-speaking Russian military officer who worked in China during the 1980s).

Based on his own experiences, Lunev suspects that the Russians and Chinese were secretly allied before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Regarding the existence of a joint Russian-Chinese war plan, Lunev stated that prior to his 1992 defection, the Russian General Staff was still committed to fighting and winning a future nuclear war against America. “The nuclear war plan is still on,” he was told.

But there would be changes. No longer would Russian troops be responsible for a follow-up invasion of the lower 48 states (U.S. mainland). Russian forces would be responsible for occupying “Alaska and parts of Canada.” The Chinese would occupy the lower 48 states. In addition, certain Third World countries would be given “looting rights.”

Before expounding on this overall division of responsibilities between Russia and China it is important to explain that Russian ideas regarding a future nuclear war are not like American ideas. In America we think of nuclear war as the end of all life on earth. We are influenced in this view by fictional accounts, by movies written by persons who have no expert knowledge of military plans or methods.

Not sharing America’s pulp fiction standpoint, the Russian generals are informed by the latest military science. Their war plans are precise. They know where the bombs will fall and where the fallout will land. They know what areas will be radioactive and for how long. They also know that the world will not come to an end, even if two hundred million people die in a few days or weeks.

It is my experience, from talking with U.S. military experts, that they have not done their homework with regard to Soviet or Chinese war plans. Instead of carefully reading Russian military texts or listening to the testimony of Col. Lunev, U.S. strategists are blinded by their own preconceptions.

They refuse to think creatively about nuclear war. They fail to see how nuclear weapons might be used to clear a path for a new type of conventional fighting supported by logistical innovations. Who needs heavy, difficult-to-supply divisions when masses of light troops, living off the land, are all that is needed in the wake of nuclear and biological attacks? But U.S. strategists have not considered the possibilities.

They have not looked closely into the logic of Chinese and Russian force structure, weapons developments and logistical preparations. They have not considered the Chinese use of shipping companies, port facilities and the appropriation of key logistical gateways under the cover of peacetime trade.

One U.S. expert I spoke with totally denied that Russia or China would consider occupying U.S. territory during a nuclear war. But the words of a classic Russian military text is unambiguous. On page 302 of the RAND translation of "Soviet Military Strategy" it says:

In a future war, the socialist coalition will aim at conclusive political and military goals. To attain those goals, it will not be enough just to destroy the enemy’s means of nuclear attack, to defeat his main forces by missile blows and to disorganize his rear. For final victory … it will be absolutely necessary to smash the enemy’s armed forces completely, deprive him of strategic areas of deployment, liquidate his military bases, and occupy his strategically important regions.

The Russian text goes on to state: “For this reason, the Ground Forces will undoubtedly play an important role, along with the missile forces, in achieving the final goals of the war.” Col. Lunev emphasized three points in his 1999 revelation about Russia’s plan for World War III.

First, it is the union of Russian missile power with the Chinese foot soldier that offers a war-winning military combination. Second, America cannot resist this combination because the Russian missiles, in destroying the infrastructure needed to support highly modernized military forces, pave the way for the ascendancy of numerically superior but poorly supplied Chinese divisions. Third, by using port facilities in the Western Hemisphere the Chinese are presently preparing the logistical bases needed to support an invasion of the lower 48 states.

It is no accident that Chinese front companies control port facilities on both ends of the Panama Canal. It is not without strategic significance that China is building the largest container port on earth in the Bahamas. The Chinese interest in gaining footholds in the Western Hemisphere is related to a clearly developed plan in which Chinese troops have the main responsibility for occupying strategic ground.

Recently China’s Commission on Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND), together with the research department of the People’s Liberation Army, stated that shipbuilding is a “strategic industry” for China. According to the July 2001 issue of the U.S. Naval Institute’s Proceedings magazine, China’s efforts to dominate shipping and control commercial ports must be viewed within a strategic military framework.

Americans should know that the penetration of U.S. port facilities by Chinese entities is ultimately grounded in military science, not commercial greed. Last summer a CIA source confirmed that 22 Chinese freighters off-loaded a large quantity of military supplies in Mexico. What is this all about?

Because of the destructiveness of nuclear war, existing supply bases in Russia and China may not escape destruction. Consequently, alternate supply depots must be set up in neutral countries and on American soil (if possible). In this context, the Red Dawn scenario is no fantasy and Col. Stanislav Lunev is no idle talker.

Russia is a traditional blood and iron power based on the predator’s code. History shows that the Kremlin is ruthless. Animated by a national inferiority complex compounded by economic envy, Russian leaders dream of revenge. And so do the leaders of China. As for detente, "engagement," or whatever the latest appeasement might be called, the words of Dryden apply:

Thus in a pageant show a plot is made
And peace itself is war in masquerade.

As Stalin once said, "A diplomat's words must contradict his deeds -- otherwise, what sort of diplomat is he?" In 1936 William C. Bullitt, America's first ambassador to Soviet Russia, described Kremlin policy in the following terms:

[Russia] will not, in good faith, enter into any international agreements which have as their object improvement of the general economic condition of the world. It will, on the contrary, try to produce as much chaos as possible in the economies of capitalist countries in the hope that misery may beget communist revolution.

Consider, as well, the words of the Czech disinformation expert who defected many years ago, Zdzislaw M. Rurarz:

[Russia] is contemptuous of any treaty obligations that no longer serve its purposes. At the same time, it knows democratic countries cannot follow its example of blatantly violating valid treaties. The arms control talks and ensuing accords are exploited by … [Russia] for its own ends, and the lengthy process encourages deception and disinformation practices.

Wasn't it Lenin who wrote in 1905 that, “Promises are like pie crusts, made to be broken”? Yet President Bush, when he met Russian President Vladimir Putin last June, said: “I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

A better sense of Putin's soul can be found in a televised speech given by the Russian president on June 22 of last year. On the sixtieth anniversary of Hitler’s attack on Russia, President Putin offered a stern warning to his people. The fascists are still out there, he said. “They still emit their poison in different parts of the earth.”

Dressed in a black suit, Putin hinted at future international dangers. “To this day,” Putin warned, “the world has not rid itself of ideologies that teach extreme nationalism, religious fanaticism and the idea of world dominance.”

I believe that this former KGB officer and one-time chief of Russia’s secret police was manipulating his listeners. After brutally smashing Chechnya he casts an envious glance toward the United States and its naïve president, George W. Bush. “The roots of fascism,” said Putin, “are far from eradicated.”

The shopworn Russian image of America as a fascist republic, run by racists and greedy capitalists, was subliminally evoked by Putin. And it was a performance that took place only one week after Putin’s first summit meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush.

On June 22, Putin reminded the Russian people that Hitler’s invasion cost over 20 million Russian lives. "No one will understand Russia,” he said, “until they know what our people lived through in the war, what experience they gained at the front. Nor would they understand our special feeling toward the Army and the defenders of the fatherland.”

A week earlier Putin had been smiling and joking with President Bush. “You named your daughters after your mother and mother-in-law,” said Putin to his American counterpart. “Well, so did I.” (See how much we have in common, Mr. President!)

But the reality is not so chummy. Putin looked into the Russian television cameras on June 22 and evoked that moment, in 1941, when “the people made their choice.” Putin was complimenting the Russians on their warlike resolve: “In this moment of danger the people chose to defend their fatherland to the last. They would not give up their homeland to the enemy.”

Putin told the Russian people that destructive war is an ever-present possibility. He summoned the memory of 20 million dead. "This is a day of mourning,” Putin explained, “but also a day of warning, a reminder.” And why should this reminder be relevant in 2001?

When Vladimir Putin was Prime Minister of Russia in 1999, the former chief of Russian military intelligence went on television to say that NATO was like the Third Reich. He told the Russian people to remember 1941, that history was repeating itself. This note of warning has appeared in the Russian media many times since.

This kind of talk by Russian officials indicates that a special psychology is at work behind Russian politics. It is a psychology that looks forward to the next war (though it pretends to crave peace). Americans will have trouble understanding this. After the practicality of a Third World War was questioned during a seminar, Col. Lunev once explained to a group of Americans in Washington that his entire 30-year career in the Russian military was focused on one thing: future nuclear world war with the United States. How would that war be fought?

According to Lunev, Russia would provide the missile forces and China would provide the expendable ground forces. As the main target of Russian-Chinese military strategy, the United States would have to be invaded and occupied for final victory.

Veteran CIA analyst and congressional military advisor Peter Vincent Pry stated in a recent book, "War Scare: Russia and America on the Nuclear Brink,"

I have personally been on the receiving end of Russian nuclear threats over NATO expansion. In 1997 and again in 1998, a high-ranking Russian official, who has requested anonymity, warned me that NATO enlargement could trigger a nuclear war. The Russian official, claiming knowledge of military contingency plans ... said it was his personal view that these plans would be implemented....

Given these facts, is a Chinese invasion of North America as outlandish as Art Bell assumes?

In August 1998 I asked Col. Lunev if China allied with Russia could defeat the U.S. His answer was an unequivocal "yes." Given that Lunev's training teaches that victory is impossible without occupying the ground, his answer can only suggest one thing. Chinese troops on U.S. soil is not far-fetched at all.

A May 22, 2002 article from the Denver Post reports:

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., accused the Mexican army Tuesday of staging a "military incursion" Friday night into southern Arizona that ended with Mexican soldiers firing shots at a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle. A U.S. agent spotted three Mexican soldiers in a Mexican Humvee on U.S. soil and was attempting to leave the area when the rear window of his vehicle was apparently shattered by gunfire, she said. On May 3, Tancredo wrote Mexican President Vicente Fox demanding that he halt "incursions" by Mexican law enforcement officers into the U.S. Fox didn't respond.

Yes, I do. He is under sentence of death in Russia for high treason. Any attempt to communicate with people in Russia would risk said sentence being carried out. But he seems to have amazingly high-bandwidth (i.e., easily-compromised) connections with folks in Russia.

I assume that people growing up in Russia, like people growing up in China have more than sufficient knowledge to use strictly trusted relatives and friends hand carrying or memorizing things to pass person to person on rampant travels.

But that's a low-bandwidth communication system. Lunev apparently has a very open communication network with folks all across Russia.

Israel prepares for the day after Arafat

Israel is readying for the day after Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat dies.

A plan formulated by diplomatic and security officials, a copy of which was handed to Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom on Wednesday, forecasts
"a state of lawlessness" in the Palestinian territories if and when the aging PA chairman passes away.

The report warns that Israel should prepare for the possibility that Arafat's death will give new energy to the Palestinian uprising.

Deputy PM Ehud Olmert said Wednesday from Turkey that there has been no change in Israel's policy towards Arafat, i.e. he will not be harmed, and will not be allowed to leave his Ramallah compound.

Although the 'post-Arafat contingency plan' is not new – the Ministry of Defense published a similar report several months ago - the document delivered Wednesday to the Foreign Ministry details Israel's public diplomacy challenges for the day Arafat dies, Israel Radio reported.

Three possible scenarios leading to Arafat's death have been considered and evaluated in the plan:

Arafat's death in an Israeli military operation

Arafat's death in a natural instantaneous death

Arafat's slow death as a result of a terminal illness
Israel's greatest concern is Arafat's funeral where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are expected to march towards Jerusalem from Ramallah to bury the PA chairman on Temple Mount.

Israeli authorities are preparing for the tricky job of preventing thousands of mourners from leaving Ramallah under the lenses of the international media.

The possibility of having Arafat buried in Abu Dis is being considered, by Israel at least. Abu Dis lies on the northern slope of the Temple Mount.

According to security officials, Israel will be blamed regardless of the nature of Arafat's death, and therefore must prepare a PR campaign for the event and consider sending Arafat for medical treatment abroad if he were to fall ill.

The West Bank and Gaza will most likely fall to the control of Hamas and other terrorist Palestinian factions. The security officials, told Army Radio that the Palestinian Authority will not survive Arafat's death.
