Before you go to bed, here's something to think about...

Love’s Light

Did you ever notice, about a polarized light?
You have an inbound photon, that then rebounds just right.
It has to do with angles, and how they do reflect,
I’d like to draw a parallel, if no one will object.

That bit of cosmic energy gets knocked a little flat,
And you can tell it hit something, the way it tilts its hat.
But not just any glasses will let you watch this dance.
You have to have the proper kind or you won’t have a chance.

In just exactly this same way there is another thing,
That folks will say you cannot see no matter what you bring.
It is the light of heaven, sent down from up above.
And no one seems to see it, unless they look through love.

It’s mostly in reflection, that you can know it’s there,
For otherwise, a lesser light will seem to fill the air.
You look for these reflections, in little children’s eyes.
There is a brightness shining there that nothing can disguise.

It seems those close to Heaven, are those who see the light,
The rest of us can can see it then, if we just catch them right.
The elderly are looking at so much we cannot see,
We think that they are lost in thought, for what else could it be?

They look out to a playground, so empty to our eyes,
And see the children playing there, when they were but this size.
They know they’re bound for Heaven. They see it every day.
And we could learn to see it too, if we would look their way.

Time seems to occupy us. We’ve really lost the knack,
To see the world with patient love, with nothing left to pack.
They’re going on a journey, returning to the source.
A greater love has shown the way. That’s why they smile, of course.

I'll give that a bump for later, then, since it's mid-afternoon here in Australia... (and so far, Tuesday's going fair-to-middling, thanks!) Cheers.

Bob, I been thinking (yeah I know I shouldn't do that) maybe one of us should be archiving these poems? They seem too good to go to waste, is all. Maybe you could publish a book? I could do some illustrations, perhaps (if I ever got out from behind the computer!)...

Rambling on again - must be time for a cuppa. Sleep well, America!!!

There are 30 books of the Bible in the following paragraph. Can you find them?

This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much, he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his johnboat. Another friend studied it while playing the banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving the puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That’s a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in the paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the alpha delta phi lemonade booth set a new record. The local paper, the Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, “the books are all right there in plain view hidden from sight.” Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind. that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus, there really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found. 55 posted on 03/29/2004 9:06:39 PM EST by Dubya (Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me) . . . . . . . . . . . . "Bob, I been thinking (yeah I know I shouldn't do that) ... Maybe you could publish a book?"

Anyone can publish a book of poetry. Or a book on any subject.

The trick is to either make money, or make a point. I've been thinking that a selection of my poems that showed a progression toward a particular theme or philosophy would require introductory and explanatory notes in order to reach that destination.

A collaboration for illustrations to help make the points, or highlight the philosophy would help the project, and sounds like a lot of fun.

I have a vivid imagination, but I can barely draw water. Any attempt I made to illustrate a book about anything would be a horrendous disaster. I surely could use help.

I don't think drawings alone would do the trick, though. Selected photographs, either staged or fabricated in some manner might be what is required.

I'm still in the process of creating the assortment of poems to select from, and I feel very creative. I could probably tailor my writing to fit a particular theme. Right now, it's more like "lawn dart" poetry, but some folks get my points.

I'd sure like to help. I have an eye for images, too... it's what made me a passable stills photographer and the best TV journalism major in my class. And sometimes I can manage to put words across, too... heh!

WITH A SONG IN MY HEART
Lyrics by Lorenz Hart, music by Richard Rodgers
1929

Though I know that we meet ev'ry night
and we couldn't have change since the last time,
to my joy and delight,
it's a new kind of love at first sight.
Though it's you and it's I all the time
ev'ry meeting's marvelous pastime.
You're increasingly sweet,
so whenever we happened to meet
I greet you ...

With a song in my heart
I behold your adorable face.
Just a song at the start
but it soon is a hymn to your grace.
When the music swells
I'm touching you hand
It tells that you're standing near, and ..
At the sound of your voice
heaven opens his portals to me.
Can I help but rejoice
that a song such as ours came to be?
But I always knew
I would live life through
with a song in my heart for you.

Ode to Music

QUEEN of every moving measure,
Sweetest source of purest pleasure,
Music; why thy powers employ
Only for the sons of joy?
Only for the smiling guests
At natal or at nuptial feasts?
Rather thy lenient numbers pour
On those whom secret griefs devour;
Bid be still the throbbing hearts
Of those, whom death, or absence parts,
And, with some softly whisper'd air,
Smooth the brow of dumb despair.

Joseph Warton
