.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Good morning P&P FRiends! Still no poetry from me, but here's some word play! How many of these special words do you know?
1. The longest word you can spell without repeating a letter: uncopyrightable
2. The longest word with just one vowel: strengths
3. Longest commonly-used word with no letter appearing more than once: ambidextrously
4. The word with the longest definition, in most dictionaries: set
5. The longest common word without an a, e, i, o, or u: rhythms
6. The shortest -ology (study of) word: oology (the study of eggs)
7. The only two common words with six consonants in a row: catchphrase and latchstring
8. The longest English word with letters appearing in alphabetical order: aegilops (an ulcer in the eye)
So, how did you do? Highlight the list to check your answers.

I think the longest word with just one vowel is STRENGTH.
The others, I haven't a clue.

What a beautiful graphic just for me! (blush)I just happened upon a wonderful poem this morning by Fanny J. Crosby:)
Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
This was in a book, Tramp for the Lord, by Corrie Ten Boom. All I can say is that her book is wonderful, and so was the poem. :) Thanks for the ping Amy, and have a wonderful day!

A Wolfie update ping........
Thought I would pass on some news I received just now about Wolfie's injured knee:
"The doctor took xrays, nothing too serious, old cartilage popped loose He gave me a cortisone shot for now. Said to give it three/four days and see what happens. Said the pain and swelling should lessen. man, I can barely sit or stand. : (
It may come down to me getting the old cartilage cleaned out but not right now."
Louie is hoping to be able to be back at his computer this evening. As Billie said, I'm sure he could use lots of extra hugs about now. :-)

Thanks for keeping the refills coming this morning, Meekie.
FR was so slow that without the coffee, I would have fallen asleep waiting for pages to load. Thank you!
