On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards.
And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. I’d never thought of it that way.”
OK, people preen. And leftists impose their beliefs on others. It’s what they do. But this one is stupid.
First, “Science is Real” is gibberish. The issue is not whether science is real or fake. The issue is whether enough data has been collected, sorted and analyzed correctly to arrive at a factual explanation for the particular subject under investigation. Science is not a thing, but a methodology. Science is the process of collecting data and rigorously analyzing it to understand a natural phenomenon.
To say “Science is Real” shows a fundamental lack of understanding about science. It’s like saying, “anthropology is real” or “chemistry is real.” I’ve known many scientists and not one has ever said, “Science is Real.”....

To which I say I am not surprised. I doubt Hate could afford the mortgage.
No one is ever outside these homes for me to talk to, although some have porches with chairs.
I am tempted to ask them if Hate lives in the homes without signs.
In one of the liberal bastions in my town I see a lot of rainbow flags and BLM signs. All white people.
Their neighbors should put up signs with arrows pointed at the “no hate here” sign:
“My neighbor will not hate you if you rob their home.”
Bingo. That one drives me bonkers. I am tempted to tape a sign to it saying “Unless you’re a republican.” Or just “BS!” would do.
Lol. Tell them you voted for Trump and see what they do.
Ive seen such signs too.
Love is love. Black Lives Matter. We believe in science. Etc etc. People like to virtue signal.
They have these signs at my church; I am similarly conflicted, because it sure had a home there during the five-year long anti-Trump hatefest!
And to answer your question: stupidity
They used to have small stickers with a drawing of a screw to stick over the heart of those I heart bumper stickers. Something similar would be nice for these yard signs.
My favorite is “silence is violence”. What? No, violence is violence. Silence especially from the left is golden.
The People Against Goodness and Normalcy signs were all sold out.
This is the sign I’ve got in front of my house. Hasn’t been stolen yet. :)
For those not wanting to go to the link, it reads:
“In this house we believe that
Simplistic platitudes
Trite tautologies
And semantically overloaded aphorisms
Are poor substitues
For respectful and rational discussions
About complex issues”
someone up the road from me has a bunch of Sheep with facemasks stuck in his lawn
Sounds like a lot of American neighborhoods are become like something out of Chairman Mao’s Great Leap Forward. There you had to put propaganda on your walls supporting the GLF or risk being sent to a labor camp.
Someone in my neighborhood has both “Black Lives Matter” and “I Stand With Planned Parenthood.”
I guess black lives matter to the profitability of Planned Parent hood? Is that what they mean?
I live near lily-white Los Gatos, which has BLM signs littered everywhere. Fools.
And the sign sez:
COME ROB ME I AIN’T GOT NO GUN!!
