Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.
More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.
My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.
There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.
I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.
Pinging the list - some peaceful music and natural sound videos, I will try to post more often.
So crazy in the world now, we all need “peace breaks”. It’s easy to get wound up too tight.

Alert:
I recommend all men 50 and over, or even in 40s, to get a PSA test. I do not know a lot about this topic, but because several friends and a relative of DH’s had prostate cancer, I encouraged him to get the test. His results were in normal range, but we did find his blood sugar and cholesterol will more elevated, so he is making some dietary changes. I find the Mayo Clinic info much more useful and clear than the gov link.
Here are two links describing the pros and cons (cons still not clear to me, it’s a simple blood test) of getting PSA tested.

PSA test
The PSA test is a blood test used primarily to screen for prostate cancer.
The test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. PSA is a protein produced by both cancerous and noncancerous tissue in the prostate, a small gland that sits below the bladder in males.
PSA is mostly found in semen, which also is produced in the prostate. Small amounts of PSA ordinarily circulate in the blood.
The PSA test can detect high levels of PSA that may indicate the presence of prostate cancer. However, many other conditions, such as an enlarged or inflamed prostate, also can increase PSA levels. Therefore, determining what a high PSA score means can be complicated.
There is a lot of conflicting advice about PSA testing. To decide whether to have a PSA test, discuss the issue with your doctor, considering your risk factors and weighing your personal preferences.
Why it’s done
Prostate cancer is common, and it is a frequent cause of cancer death. Early detection may be an important tool in getting appropriate and timely treatment.
Prostate cancer can cause elevated levels of PSA. However, many noncancerous conditions also can increase the PSA level. The PSA test can detect high levels of PSA in the blood but doesn’t provide precise diagnostic information about the condition of the prostate.
The PSA test is only one tool used to screen for early signs of prostate cancer. Another common screening test, usually done in addition to a PSA test, is a digital rectal exam.
In this test, your doctor inserts a lubricated, gloved finger into your rectum to reach the prostate. By feeling or pressing on the prostate, the doctor may be able to judge whether it has abnormal lumps or hard areas.
Neither the PSA test nor the digital rectal exam provides enough information for your doctor to diagnose prostate cancer. Abnormal results in these tests may lead your doctor to recommend a prostate biopsy.
During a prostate biopsy, samples of prostate tissue are removed for laboratory examination. A diagnosis of cancer is based on the biopsy results.

Pinging to the list to herbs for Liver.
I was researching herbs helpful for the liver for an old friend and figured I’d post here too. Any questions about sources, or anything else, just ask. Aloe gel or juice is also very good for liver functioning, helpful in all acid conditions and also supports female balance functions. Watch out for potassium sorbate though. The kind I like the best is Lakewood brand, organic, in glass jars with only 2% lemon juice as a preservative.
Herbs for Liver
Barberry
Regulates liver energy, stimulates digestion, often used with turmeric, and helpful for inflammatory and rheumatic conditions.
Vervain
Useful for liver congestion and cirrhosis
Wild Yam - Dioscorea

Thank you L.J.!
I have an old friend with liver problems and figured I’ll get a lot of info and spread around. I can post my favorite herb sources any time. Some I have not used like watercress, False Unicorn Root or Vervain. I’ve seen vervain growing wild in Hawaii, it’s a nice looking flower, tiny purple IIRC.

For liver repair, also consider Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA). Oral ALA can reverse cirrhosis and liver damage from poisonous mushrooms, for example. I think most doctors would consider those conditions irreversible. This was discovered by Dr. Burt Berson. Lots of videos on Berkson here:

Liv.52 is an herbal supplement for liver from the Himalaya Wellness herb company in India. It is popular with bodybuilders for repairing the liver damage from steroids. It is also sold in the US as “LiverCare.” Their India website has info they would not publish in the US due to US government tyranny: https://himalayawellness.in/products/liv-52-ds

Thanks for the info liver help. I forgot to add Milk Thistle, which is considered very helpful for liver problems.
Milk Thistle
Used for enlargement of liver and spleen, drug and alcohol poisoning, hepatitis, one of the best liver stimulating and protecting herbs. Enkindles the digestive fire in the liver, clears excess heat from liver and blood, protects the liver from toxins in chemicals, alcohol and drugs, helpful in fatty liver conditions.
I looked up the ingredients in the link, the first link only lists Capparis (Caper bush) and chicory.

Capparis spinosa (Himsra),
Boerhaavia diffusa (Punarnava),
Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna),
Berberis aristata (Daruharidra), and
Eclipta alba (Bhringaraja).
Music can be very healing. And, the reverse, listening to very harsh, discordant, jarring or profane music can have the opposite effect. Someone sent me this article, and incidentally, I LOVE Bach. Used to listen to his music a lot as a very troubled teenager. I’ll post some music I like later on.
Warning - I am NOT advocating the use of drugs of any kind!!
How the Transcendent Power of Music Allays the Loneliness of Being and the Ache of Regret
Michael Pollan on Bach and the cosmos of belonging.
Some of humanity’s greatest writers have extolled the singular enchantment of music. Walt Whitman considered it the profoundest expression of nature. Maurice Sendak found in its fusion of fantasy and feeling the key to great storytelling. “Without music life would be a mistake,” Nietzsche proclaimed with his characteristic drama of finality. Music can save a life, allay the shock of death, and permeate the living flesh of memory. “After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music,” Aldous Huxley wrote in contemplating the transcendent power of music two decades before he swung open the doors to transcendence in a different way, as charioteer in the first wave of the psychedelic revolution. Huxley discovered in psychedelics a kindred portal into the inexpressible — or what William James identified as the first of his four features of transcendent experiences: ineffability — that peculiar state of surrender — in which regions of consciousness unconquerable by thought, inaccessible by its arsenal of language, begin to emerge and to expand our understanding of reality through what Whitman celebrated as “dainty abandon.”
A century and a half after Whitman and a turn of the cultural cycle after Huxley, Michael Pollan revisits the transcendent, ineffable common ground between music and psychedelics in (public library) — a rigorously researched and sensitively reasoned inquiry into the neurophysiology, phenomenology, and inner poetry of transcendence.
During his first experience with psilocybin, Pollan asked his facilitator to put on a Bach cello suite in D minor, performed — reanimated, rather — by Yo-Yo Ma. He had heard the spare, melancholy suite many times before, usually at funerals, but had “never truly listened to it” — until that moment. With a poet’s access to the language of inner quickening, the language of the ineffable beyond the ripening of thought and feeling in ordinary consciousness, where the deepest and most mysterious substance of being lies, Pollan recounts the experience:
I lost whatever ability I still had to distinguish subject from object, tell apart what remained of me and what was Bach’s music. Instead of Emerson’s transparent eyeball, egoless and one with all it beheld, I became a transparent ear, indistinguishable from the stream of sound that flooded my consciousness until there was nothing else in it, not even a dry tiny corner in which to plant an I and observe. Opened to the music, I became first the strings, could feel on my skin the exquisite friction of the horsehair rubbing over me, and then the breeze of sound flowing past as it crossed the lips of the instrument and went out to meet the world, beginning its lonely transit of the universe. Then I passed down into the resonant black well of space inside the cello, the vibrating envelope of air formed by the curves of its spruce roof and maple walls. The instrument’s wooden interior formed a mouth capable of unparalleled eloquence — indeed, of articulating everything a human could conceive. But the cello’s interior also formed a room to write in and a skull in which to think and I was now it, with no remainder.
So I became the cello and mourned with it for the twenty or so minutes it took for that piece to, well, change everything. Or so it seemed; now, its vibrations subsiding, I’m less certain. But for the duration of those exquisite moments, Bach’s cello suite had had the unmistakable effect of reconciling me to death… Having let go of the rope of self and slipped into the warm waters of this worldly beauty — Bach’s sublime music, I mean, and Yo-Yo Ma’s bow caressing those four strings suspended over that envelope of air — I felt as though I’d passed beyond the reach of suffering and regret.
Complement this fragment of How to Change Your Mind — a symphonic read in its totality, and one of the most timeless books of its year — with Regina Spektor’s enchanting reading of poet Mark Strand’s “The Everyday Enchantment of Music” and German philosopher Joseph Pieper, writing in Huxley’s age and with uncommonly lyrical lucidity, on how Bach will save your soul.
Hat tip to FReeper for sending me this. Long sciencey article at link. I eat a lot of mung beans have a bunch soaked and partly sprouted and ready to cooking today. I loathe Matcha (the most potent kind of green tea) but did use extensively when I was kicking caner in 2019-2020. I will start using it again. Best is from Japan, I avoid from China but that’s where much of it is from. I do not like it as tea, but there are many other ways to get it swallowed.

Turn Off the Cytokine Switch
A biochemical “switch” that turns on many of the chronic diseases of aging has been uncovered. Known as HMGB1, this molecule triggers the release of cytokines—a collection of chemical signals—that generate inflammation in your body. In a hospital setting, researchers have shown that mung bean seed coat and green tea extract counteract HMGB1, safely quelling acute inflammation before it becomes chronic.

Tested in prestigious hospital research laboratories, two plant extracts, mung bean seed coat and green tea, extended life spans and increased survival rate caused by inflammation in blood poisoning (sepsis) by up to 82%.5,6

I was diagnosed with cancer coming up on three years ago. My lead nurse prayed over me while walking out. I downloaded the Bible app and have read and prayed everyday since. I took a bit of an unconventional path. Wandered in the Wilderness for 500 miles in Spain. Came back for drugs, radiation and surgery. Didn’t beat it until I took dog dewormer (active ingredient fenbendazole). I never wavered in my faith. He healed me.

Dang....not on TS, so I can’t read his Truth/post :-(
Is that all it says, basically...what you posted?
Thanks!!
There have been a few FR threads about Joe Tippens (?) cancer treatment success, with Panacure.
I take fenbendazole like ivermectin, dosage by weight (I am a melanoma survivor) and when I have the money I alternate between the two. I treat myself quarterly. The fenbendazole is much more expensive than ivermectin.
There was a website of agent orange cancer survivors who take the fenbendazole once per week with the same dosage that you would give a ten pound dog.
You can only read TS if signed up? Well, then sign up!! It’s very easy, I did, i haven’t even posted anything nor do I know my way around yet, but I will get to it.
