Obama amputates our nuclear arms

Under President Obama’s new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is “in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty,” explained Gates, then “the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.”

Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)

However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.

This is quite insane. It’s like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.

Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?

The naivete is stunning.

People everywhere become very short-temptered. Bad drivers increase. not a smooth safe life, with very bad prospects ahead of us weighing down on honest shoulders. With our enemies so powerfulluy entrenched in our corridors of power, we can expect some mind boggling regulations favoring them. Serious chaos in Libya , Iraq, Egypt endangers Israel.

I feel what you're talking about - but much will be kept at bay until after the election...

You may be right but the pent up pressure building up may explode a lot sooner as Obama pushes his corrupt, biased agenda beyond our tolerance. It may take his trying to declare martial law, suspending the Constitution and elections but it seems certain to happen.

The election may end up being a series of street clashes between Obam thugs and supporters of our Constitutional rights.

ACORN thugs are already deeply involved in the OWS crowds. As are the Unions such as the SEIU.

The naivte IS stunning; just as is that arrogance of ignorance which appears to compel our RNC and a majority of our Repub Candidates to ignore ALL meansures of Obama,Inc. policies that so threaten our place; if not very existence; in the world.

All well and good to discuss economy and taxes; but this is hardly the only debate we need to have! All of Obama's policies; both 'Foreign' and Domestic'; bode 'ill'. If we get 'four more years' of this; America IS doomed.

Does the Repub 'elite', imagine; the outside the beltway'folks' care only about their own wallets; or worse, that they cannot hold to more than one single-threaded issue? Why is this campaign in 'one basket' that could easily be 'dashed' by even a perceived uptick in our economy, just prior to Election?

Naivete of a different kind; perhaps. Or just a willfull ignorance. Both equally damning.

Thanks, this confirms my understanding of Libya under Ghaddafi.

While he was a middle east strongman and lived quite well, he was a benevalent tyrant who took care of his people.

Just wait until the Moslem Brotherhood and al Quaida are through!
