Obama amputates our nuclear arms
By: Charles Krauthammer
...snippet...
Under President Obamas new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty, explained Gates, then the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.
Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)
However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.
This is quite insane. Its like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.
Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?
The naivete is stunning.

Cutting Corners Around the Constitution - Scoundrel Soros’ Massive Campaign
to Tranform the Courts
This makes every damn, argument against Citizens United irrelevant.
Here’s the gist of it. Soros is bankrolling a massive campaign to usurp and
replaceevery voter’s right to elect judges with a “merit” system where
judges are selected by legal (read: lefty) elitist groups such as the
American Bar Association and the American Trail Lawyers Association.
http://www.americanjusticepartnership.org/hijacked.php
American Justice
Partnership (AJP)’s 29-page study,
http://www.americanjusticepartnership.org/pdf/Justice_Hijacked_Report.pdf
Justice Hijacked: Your Right to Vote at Stake, highlights the depth Soros’
efforts to corrupt our courts. An excerpt from the beginning of the study
(p5):
An analysis of hundreds of documents and websites, foundation and nonprofit
IRS Form 990s, reveals that OSI [Soros’ Open Society Institute] has funneled
at least $45.4 million into a highly-coordinated campaign to reshape the
judiciary and fundamentally change the way judges are chosen in many
American states. This figure is almost surely a conservative estimate, for
these same organizations have received an additional $52.4 million from OSI
to finance a range of activities, some of which, such as “general support”
contributions, may be supporting OSI’s judiciary campaign. As Investor’s
Business Daily noted, “Soros’ ‘shaping public policies,’ as OSI calls it, is
not illegal. But it is a problem for democracy ‘because it drives issues
with cash and then only lets the public know about it after it is old news.
That means the public makes decisions about issues without understanding the
special agenda of groups behind them. Without more transparency, it amounts
to political manipulation.”
OSI has also earmarked tens of millions of dollars to promote softer
sentencing guidelines, the legalization of drugs and other radical changes
to the judicial system. This report will focus on one aspect of OSI’s
activities: the campaign to alter the composition of our judiciary by ending
citizen participation in judicial elections. This campaign encompasses
efforts to rewrite state constitutions, abolish judicial elections and
impose a judicial selection system that takes power away from ordinary
citizens and gives it to a handful of legal elites. No wonder the

that Mr. Soros could have the greatest impact on our legal system since the
founding fathers.

Al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb using sheer fear for control in Algeria
http://www.geostrategy-direct.com/geostrategy-direct/images/2010/bouteflika1.jpg
Bouteflika and his aides have repeatedly assured Algerians that AQIM was
declining rapidly and no longer represented a major threat.

. Task: President of Algeria
. Age: 73
CAIRO - Al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb has sought to consolidate control
over designated areas of Algeria.
Algerian security sources said the Al Qaida Organization has sought to
dominate several areas of eastern and central Algeria. They said AQIM has
intimidated farmers and businessmen to pay protection money to finance the
insurgency campaign against the government in Algiers.
“They are very cruel and bold and do not fear anybody,” a security source
said. “When they send a warning to people, it is obeyed.”
The AQIM extortion campaign was said to have helped finance insurgency
attacks.

A key Al Qaida stronghold was identified as Baghlia. Over the last few
months, AQIM has targeted prominent residents of Baghlia, with a population
19,000, including the assassination of its mayor in August.
From Baghlia, the sources said, AQIM has sought to dominate the entire
province of Boumerdes. They said mayors in the province threatened by AQIM
have fled their municipalities for refuge in the city of Boumerdes, which
contains a major military and police presence.

Drone strikes in Pakistan, Afghanistan disrupted Euro-terror plots
U.S. intelligence officials said Al Qaida’s No. 3 official was involved in
planning for a major terrorist attack in Europe but the planning was
disrupted by stepped-up drone strikes in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
More than 10 drone strikes were carried out over the past week in remote
regions of Pakistan based on intelligence reports of meetings between Al
Qaida leaders and foot soldiers being prepared for the European attacks.

The officials said Illyas Kashmiri, a former Pakistan special forces
commando, was behind the latest terrorist attack plot and the stepped up
drone strikes were aimed at killing him, although it is not clear they were
successful in that objective.

“Sometimes they’ll make a mistake and we can pick up on it,” the source
said. “They’ll worry that they have a security leak, even if they don’t, and
they’ll communicate in some way they’ve not before or they will validate
some link we’ve watched but couldn’t confirm.”
Meanwhile, NATO announced last week that one bombing raid killed Al Qaida
commander Abdullah Umar Qureshi, a key facilitator of equipping and bringing
foreign fighters to Afghanistan. He was killed in an air raid by special
forces in the Korangal Dara Pass area of Kunar Province.

WASHINGTON - Yemen’s al-Qaida of the Arabian Peninsula is offering chilling
magazine tips to would-be militants on how to kill Americans.
“A random hit at a crowded restaurant in Washington, D.C. at lunch . . .

authors in the second edition of the group’s English language magazine,
according to the private SITE Intelligence Group.

This new edition includes “The Ultimate Mowing Machine,” which describes how

The founders of IslamOnlne, an Islamic news portal strongly associated with
Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi, have announced the launch
of their new website called OnIslam. According to the announcement

After a several-month battle against Qatari financers over editorial
independence, the editorial team that founded IslamOnline.net ten years ago
launched on Saturday, October 9, their alternative OnIslam website. “Our
main concern and objective was to launch a website where editorial work is
independent from funding,” stressed Hisham Gaafar, the chairman of the board
of trustees of MDA, a non-profit civil institution for media development
under which OnIslam is launched.
