Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

guessed as much...my following comments should clear that misunderstanding up. The image in question, which I have referred to in past comments as a 'snip' with the date showing as reading from left to right, is being presented as proof that the 'seal' IS BLEEDING THOUGH FROM THE REVERSE, which clearly, it it not.

Furthermore, it's a 'snip' of what? The CoLB graphic from the fightthesmears website, or a 'snip' from KOS?

Strata credits Doug Ross with the analysis of the image. Doug Ross, who appears to be the original source of the 'snip,' is looking at the Kos image, and in turn credits Atlas Shrugs with first highlighting the seal and other information bleeding through. In order to make it easier to read the images bleeding through, these analysts have all reversed the image. It is not a new image, although Atlas Shrugs correspondent "Joe" is the only one who specifically states that he "flipped (the image) over."

In short, it is a 'snip' from the Kos image, digitally manipulated to make the bleed-through easier to read.

Sorry, had the wrong link above for Doug Ross. Ross analyzes and finds a seal on the Kos image.

The Atlas Shrugs page ("Joe") analyzes the FightTheSmears image and finds a seal.

OpenDNA's photobucket images are the forgeries Jay McKinnon made, according to the article at the top of this thread, so there isn't really any reason to look for a seal on them. His story is that he took the image from Kos and modified it to be a blank.

It's just now with a possible multiplicity of suspect valid documents anyone can be detained pending verification, no?

It's been heading in that direction for a long time. Counterfeit money was probably the first government document to be forged. Teenagers got forged IDs to go drinking. 9/11 perps got forged drivers licenses from 7/11 parking lots. Voter registrars like Acorn forge signatures, candidates (like Obama) challenged candidate application signatures as forged or unqualified to eliminate opposition.

The MSM has run altered photos, darkened photos, mis-reported photos, staged photos. Just this week we had the altered photo of Iran's missile launch.

One of my earliest FR vanity threads was about mandating passports for all citizens for voting purposes, only because tampering with passports for vote fraud would put at jeopardy the validity of the passport to other countries for free travel purposes, a trade-off that I presumed people just wouldn't be willing to make.

So now we have birth certificates. And now we're being asked to accept web facsimiles of parts of physical documents as if they were the real thing.

Maybe less of a mistake than a matter of tying the ‘form rev’ to the fields and contents of fields. They could order a new set of background green-weave that might look a bit different, change the border, but its the same ‘form revision’. I’m guessing on this, I’m not one who makes up forms.

I have felt from the get-go that if there was a legal document, either passport or birth cert, that contradicted the bio verson of things, that it would leak out somehow, irrespective of the legal privacy constraints.

It was refused on this basis:

The one way to get at the record reliably would be via a court order, and one way to do that is to sue Obama on the basis of his lack of eligibility.

I would think that Obama’s release of his (redacted) birth certificate should act as a mitigation of normal privacy concerns. His BC is a public concern to attest to his eligibility for President. Hawaii should be able to at least attest that the information released publicly matches what Hawaii has on file.

(a) To protect the integrity of vital statistics records, to ensure their proper use, and to ensure the efficient and proper administration of the vital statistics system, it shall be unlawful for any person to permit inspection of, or to disclose information contained in vital statistics records, or to copy or issue a copy of all or part of any such record, except as authorized by this part or by rules adopted by the department of health.

(b) The department shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record. The following persons shall be considered to have a direct and tangible interest in a public health statistics record:

(1) The registrant;

(2) The spouse of the registrant;

(3) A parent of the registrant;

(4) A descendant of the registrant;

(5) A person having a common ancestor with the registrant;

(6) A legal guardian of the registrant;

(7) A person or agency acting on behalf of the registrant;

(8) A personal representative of the registrant’s estate;

(9) A person whose right to inspect or obtain a certified copy of the record is established by an order of a court of competent jurisdiction;

(10) Adoptive parents who have filed a petition for adoption and who need to determine the death of one or more of the prospective adopted child’s natural or legal parents;

(11) A person who needs to determine the marital status of a former spouse in order to determine the payment of alimony;

(12) A person who needs to determine the death of a nonrelated co-owner of property purchased under a joint tenancy agreement; and

(13) A person who needs a death certificate for the determination of payments under a credit insurance policy.

(c) The department may permit the use the data contained in public health statistical records for research purposes only, but no identifying use thereof shall be made.

(d) Index data consisting of name and sex of the registrant, type of vital event, and such other data as the director may authorize shall be made available to the public.

(e) The department may permit persons working on genealogy projects access to microfilm or other copies of vital records of events that occurred more than seventy-five years prior to the current year.

(f) Subject to this section, the department may direct its local agents to make a return upon filing of birth, death, and fetal death certificates with them, of certain data shown to federal, state, territorial, county, or municipal agencies. Payment by these agencies for these services may be made as the department shall direct.

(g) The department shall not issue a verification in lieu of a certified copy of any such record, or any part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant requesting a verification is:

(1) A person who has a direct and tangible interest in the record but requests a verification in lieu of a certified copy;

(2) A governmental agency or organization who for a legitimate government purpose maintains and needs to update official lists of persons in the ordinary course of the agency’s or organization’s activities;

(3) A governmental, private, social, or educational agency or organization who seeks confirmation of a certified copy of any such record submitted in support of or information provided about a vital event relating to any such record and contained in an official application made in the ordinary course of the agency’s or organization’s activities by an individual seeking employment with, entrance to, or the services or products of the agency or organization;

(4) A private or government attorney who seeks to confirm information about a vital event relating to any such record which was acquired during the course of or for purposes of legal proceedings; or

(5) An individual employed, endorsed, or sponsored by a governmental, private, social, or educational agency or organization who seeks to confirm information about a vital event relating to any such record in preparation of reports or publications by the agency or organization for research or educational purposes.

That makes sense to me. But the redacted part worries me. To me, the redacted Certificate Number is actually Hawaii's data to own. They assigned that number to Obama for their purposes, not his. That number identifies Hawaii's records, not anything about Obama. Since Obama already mitigated normal privacy concerns, Hawaii's filing number shouldn't be of question either.

KOS does appear to show a seal, and openDNA's copies are forgeries.

Now, although I have no beef with Atlas Shrugs, who is Atlas reader Joe aka Jointhehunt5Yaser - and why should we believe him/her...the 'evidence' shown may have come from the KOS graphic.

I really am prepared to believe that the CoLB on the obama website has a seal. A comment previously made stated that it's impossible to obtain ANY kind of certificate from the Hawaii Health Department WITHOUT seal. (I'll go back and find that comment if I can, it made sense.)

However, we still have the same issues at hand. The fightthesmears website shows a document that has been invalidated by the removal of the certificate number...

Claims that obama MUST be an American Citizen because he has a passport don't impress me at all, he would be entitled to claim dual nationality, Kenyan/US or Indonesian/US - aside from the question WHAT ARE THE NAMES ON HIS PASSPORT.

Obama has brought all of these questions upon himself. The carefully crafted mythos from Dreams of My Father just don't hold water.

Pissant: The GIMP software was used by Polarik and by others. It showed ONLY the supposed stamp on the KOS document, not on the Obama website version, or the allegedly higher resolution openDNA’s versions. AJ has not shown the stamp from the Obama site doc, and neither did Doug Ross. What AJ and Doug both show on their sites is something demonstrated by a reader on Atlas Shrugged who was the FIRST one to make the claim that there was a seal on the Obama version. However, its utter faintness, especially compared to the easily viewable date bleed through is more a sign of photoshop removal than a stamp actually being there. IOW, it is just as possible that the Decosta doc was partially used for creating a forgery but with the stamp edited out leaving only it’s ghost on the Obama doc. As Doug Ross said about the Kos and Decosta documents: “When I overlaid the two certificates, the candidate’s certificate matched up almost precisely with DeCosta’s.”
