Yes, and Trump and his supporters did not do anything to fix this. They remained outsiders and are today outsiders. That is a failure but good for others that challenge Trump.

DeSantis? Yeah, I don’t think so. The lemmings can have fun and feel good about themselves while trying to redecorate the swamp. As my father always said, “Can’t shine sh*t.”
And yet, she was overwhelmingly reelected to the job, and Trump supported her. So where does that leave us? Clearly she is strongly supported by the Republican party.

The critics of DeSantis who talk about this, are parsing language, when he was asked if he would serve a complete four year term if reelected. DeSantis was quoted as saying, to paraphrase, that he’s “focused” on his election, not on any other office.
He never said he wasn’t going to run for president. Critics of his have parsed language of his, and apparently to them, that is reason to not support him.
