DeSantis Says Trump Should’ve Fixed America in One Term. Then Says He’ll Need Two.

Governor Ron DeSantis is either getting his messaging mixed, or admitting he would be half as effective a President as Donald Trump.

Trump, playing to his experience in the job, goaded the Florida governor this week, stating: “When [DeSantis] says eight years, every time I hear it, I wince… because I say, if it takes eight years to turn this around, then you don’t want him… as your president.”

When told about Trump’s remarks, DeSantis snapped back: “Why didn’t he do it his first four years?”

But speaking on stage in Iowa, DeSantis said: “Let’s just be clear, it really does take two terms as president to be able to finish this job… And I don’t think he could fix it in one single four-year term.”

His messaging doesn’t seem to be working.

“Trump’s strength is his term as president,” George Pierson, a college student from Waukee told CNN.

Still, good news that DeSantis admitted Trump’s four years in office were his “first”. Conceding so soon, Ron?

The buried lede in this clip is that DeSantis says "first" four years, implying a second four years to come.

Conceding already, Ron?

Well, in all fairness. Trump was sort of busy fighting off the Kenyan bass turd’s “seventeen intelligence communities” boyz and their girlfriends and the turd rollers in the national “media”.

Dude.

You can’t promote yourself by attacking Trump.

I realize Trump doesn’t have much to run on - but saying that and attacking him makes YOU look weak (as if you have no ideas).

WHAT are your ideas (Trump talks here while attacking…)
HOW will you implement them? (This is where Trump is weak)

Get it? It’s why Jeb Jeb failed spectacularly and you’re taking a page right out of his playbook and… well you’ll see…

Trump failed, does not like getting called on it.

Really? All that he did accomplish in four years while being attacked daily and in your opinion he failed… Really?

Look, I supported him up until recently. I’m tired of his boorish and destructive behavior. The presidency is not all about him. The only sustaining thing he accomplished was new justices on the Supreme Court. Otherwise, he relied on executive orders, which often got overturned before the ink was dry and ultimately have nearly all been reversed once he left office. He didn’t do the hard work, the legislative work to get this enacted as laws. So, yes, he failed. And people can talk all about a hostile congress, but a leader negotiates, compromises, trades, and gets things done. By comparison to Trump, look at DeSantis, he’s actually accomplishing things. He’s not an entertainer, he’s a legislator, a leader. That is why I opted to support DeSantis. He’ll pick up where Trump left off, get things actually done, and more. Trump’s criticizing pro-life legislation, Trump’s supporting Coumo’s nursing home murders, Trump’s showing his LGBTQ+ support for Disney, and he’s opposed Bud Light boycott. Maybe he’s just against anything that DeSantis favors, but that is a shame and undermines what Trump used to support. And 2024 is not about Trump, it is about America.

I see he also said that it’s Important for a U.S. President to have military experience. If it was important, I think our founding fathers would have made sure it was included in the requirements to run for President, found in the Constitution. Singling himself out because he served, while subtly insinuating that those that didn’t serve aren’t qualified.

"Trump failed, does not like getting called on it."

He did nothing you approved of? Nothing at all? Everything he did was a failure? You must set your Presidential standards so high that any President is likely to fail in your eyes.

Read what I said. Trump did it by executive order, those got overturned or reversed. He has no legacy except the supreme court. I look to DeSantis to tackle much of the same agenda, but cultural values I find imporant, and get them implemented via lasting legislation.

Yep, the whole Deep State was after him. But to be even more fair, why does Trump expect it to be any different in his second term?

"I look to DeSantis to tackle much of the same agenda, but cultural values I find imporant, and get them implemented via lasting legislation."

Good luck with that. DeSantis has had the luxury of having a large Republican majority in both Houses of the Florida State Legislature.

He hasn't had to deal with any Democrat majorities on the National level. In January 2013, when he assumed his office in Congress (113th Congress), the House was controlled by Republicans. Senate was controlled by Democrats. In the 114th, and 115th Congress where he served, Republicans held both Houses. DeSantis left his Congressional seat on September 10, 2018. He was gone before the 116th Congress began in January 2019, which is when the Democrats took over the House. DeSantis never served during a Democrat majority in the House, while he served as Representative.

DeSantis isn't going to be any different than any other Republican President. He will work wonders, and shit blunders.

He’s been a great FL governor; he should stay there and reclaim the entire state from the leftists rather than both leave before his job is complete and before he’s ready for POTUS (he’s not).

2017 Trump had the right idea. The GOP controlled House and Senate. But some in the GOP did not have the guts/the courage to do what they knew was right. The gutless held Trump back.

The next President will need a Congress with guts. They can be quiet or loud about it. They just need to do it.
