Appearing to take the show's host by surprise, Henry Cuellar, a Democrat in Texas's congressional delegation contended Saturday on CNN that in 2014, the conditions at detention centers holding unaccompanied and separated illegal-immigrant children were "kept quiet under the Obama Administration." That's probably correct, but it should also be noted that enough info had leaked out that that the press, if it had been genuinely interested, could have investigated matters further, and clearly didn't. That Cuellar raised this point now shouldn't be a surprise. In 2014, he bitterly criticized Obama's handling of the surge of children crossing the U.S-Mexico border....

Whitfield was among the Hollywood personalities selected as surrogates by Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. She crisscrossed the country to get out the African-American vote, and on Nov. 4, 2008, she and other surrogates gathered and held their breath. The Baton Rouge native, who describes herself as a “political being,” believes Trump’s presidency feeds racial strife, with the country facing a “resurgence of racism and white supremacy and tribalism.” “The election of Obama undermined so deeply the white power structure of our country that was so terrified of losing power that any alternative was better than women gaining ground, than black...

Politics January 25, 2012 'I'm The Chairman!' Waxman Gets Chewed Out During Keystone Hearing Fire it up 80 Share “Are you calling the Koch brothers during the recess?” Angered by Waxman’s political posturing, Whitfield took a shot at the Obama Administration and Solyndra. “If you want to talk about that, let’s talk about the millions of dollars the Obama administration gave companies like Solyndra and people like George Kaiser and other campaign bundlers,” Whitfield fumed. “Why are you interrupting members and then you take unlimited time for yourself?” Waxman responded. “I’m the chairman! And I’m telling you right now we’re...

Full Title: Kentucky congressman tells Labor Dept. sick nuclear workers shouldn't be mocked: 'To be frank, this is offensive' U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., whose district includes the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, came down hard on the Labor Department following reports of a training manual that seems to make light of sick nuclear workers filing claims in the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program. Whitfield made his feelings known in a letter to Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. According to reports by the Associated Press and other news organizations, the manual uses generic names such as "Freddie Krueger" -- the villain...

If the media outlets are going to report on tea party events, they're not likely to get any benefit of the doubt much of the time. Case in point - at the Tea Party Express event on March 27 in Searchlight, Nev., which former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke, CNN's Fredericka Whitfield wasn't quite prepared to give the rally credit it was due as far as participation. She estimated that hundreds, but if not, "at least dozens of people" were in attendance. "Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin there in Searchlight, Nev., was the backyard of Senate Majority Leader Harry...

Democrat in Kentucky House switching to GOP RYAN LENZ Associated Press HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - State Rep. James Carr of Hopkinsville, elected last year as a Democrat, announced Monday he was switching to the Republican Party. With Carr's defection, Democrats now hold a 56-44 advantage in the House. "The leadership of the Kentucky Democratic Party is out of step with many rank-and-file Kentucky Democrat voters who hold issues such as gun control, abortion and the military close to their hearts," Carr said at a news conference. He was accompanied by U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield. Carr, 41,...

"Most atrocious things have been spoken about the character and spiritual condition of John Wesley, the modern prince of Arminians. I can only say concerning him that, while I detest many of the doctrines that he preached, yet for the man himself I have a reverence second to no Wesleyan; and if there were wanted two apostles to be added to the number of the twelve, I do not believe that there could be found two men more fit to be so added than George Whitfield and John Wesley" (p. 176).
