Texas State University has opened two new job openings for math education professors, with the caveat that they have to demonstrate a commitment to social justice. According to a Campus Reform report Tuesday, the university is seeking—for at least one of the two math professorship positions—not only a commitment to social justice, but “evidence of research” on the subject..... “We are especially interested in applicants whose scholarly interests and work include attention to the concerns of race, ethnicity, multilingualism, immigrant, social class, gender, and diversity, broadly defined,” the notice states.

Donors have pulled back and incoming students have decided to go elsewhere in response to the firestorm that erupted from a professor’s racially-charged Facebook posts, Trinity College’s president said Monday. Joanne Berger-Sweeney said 16 incoming students have withdrawn and past donors have chosen not to contribute to the school this year, resulting in about a $200,000 loss in donations.
