Instead of striving for academic excellence, jackboot methods are being used to force students to think "correctly" on social issues.
For years, the Edina Public Schools (EPS) have been one of the brightest stars in the firmament of Minnesota public education. Parents who moved to the affluent Twin Cities suburb gladly paid a hefty premium for a house, because it meant their kids could attend the districts top-notch schools.
But today, test scores are sinking in Edinas fabled schools. One in five Edina High School students cant read at grade level and one in three cant do grade-level math. These test results dropped EHSs ranking among Minnesota high schools from 5th to 29th in reading proficiency, and from 10th to 40th in math proficiency between 2014 and 2017. Across the district, about 30 percent of kids are not on track for success in reading, and the same is true for math.
A number of factors may be at work here. Clearly, however, theres been a profound shift in district leaders educational philosophy. In place of academic excellence for all, the districts primary mission is now to ensure that students think correctly on social and political issues most importantly, on race and white privilege.
District leaders enshrined this new mission in EPSs All for All strategic plan, adopted in 2013. The plan mandates that, going forward, the EPS must view all teaching and learning experiences through the lens of racial equity.
If equity meant treating kids equally, all thinking Minnesotans would support it. In this context, however, its code for racial identity politics a simplistic blaming of white privilege for the racial learning gap and any other problems that minority populations experience.

Insanity. Will the district taxpayers revolt or do they all go along?
Get used to it.
Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right. -- George Orwell, "1984"
Great quote!
Training future dhimmis and Dem voters ...
“One in five Edina High School students cant read at grade level and one in three cant do grade-level math.”
I once was a teachers asst back in university. Needed the points for my first thesis and got paid as well. It was at a junior college. These were grown men who could not simply use the words “lose” and “loose” correctly in a sentence. And yeah, they were black (there I said it)
Thanks for a great tagline.
I hope no one objects to my paraphrasing to fit FR tagline size.
No need to single out Edina, this story could have been written in any big city in the country. Leftists own the education system in America, from the top down, and have polluted it with their fantasy.
Too many grown Freepers are guilty of the same offense.
The results are mixed.
"Too many grown Freepers are guilty of the same offense."
Preach it!
haha that is true. I recently read “I half not seen that movie” from one Freeper. ;)
I'm actually surprised at some of the comments on the Star-Trib site.
Many people think this kind of BS is fine and dandy.
Really, is there a "black" way to solve an algebra problem, or a "white" way to know how to read?
Maybe if they spent LESS time on anti-white "diversity" garbage, and MORE time on actually teaching, every student's scores would improve.
The other side of the ‘white privilege’ coin is a tacit admission that blacks can’t compete academically.
Am I saying that? No, they are. Is it true? I don’t know. But they seem to be working very hard to confirm it to their eternal detriment.
Many of you [students] have made clear ... that right now, you dont feel physically safe, the article read. Know that we will do all that we can ... to fight for you and that we will teach rebellion against a broken world.
Honestly, these people need to be moved as far away from our children as possible.
Hey! Youse is gonna make me loose my temper.
CommieCore? Kids starving after lunchtime unable to process new information?
Edina was always known as kind of stuck up.
I am from the Golden Valley / Crystal area just several miles away which is way better : )
My brother in law lives in Edina. They are trying to sell their home to move away.
