<p>Washington -- The Senate took up a resolution Thursday to veto new Federal Communications Commission rules that would ease restrictions on media ownership, spurred on by what activists claim is the largest public outcry in the FCC's 69-year history.</p> <p>A bipartisan group of senators is trying to invoke the rarely used vehicle of a legislative veto to order the FCC to reconsider its 3-2 June vote to allow companies to own more TV and radio stations and to end its 28-year-old cross-ownership ban on companies owning a newspaper and TV station in the same market.</p>
