Anti-smoking wardens at a hospital have been branded a waste of money. Two were hired to patrol the grounds at the NHS unit, politely asking smokers to stub out their cigarettes. But the wardens, earning up to £15,000 a year, have no powers to make anyone stop smoking or force anyone off the premises at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, Wilts.
