WALLKILL - A former state auditor accused of stealing more than $400,000 from the town of Wallkill while reviewing its finances pleaded guilty to a felony public corruption charge. Tobias Otieno, 41, of Hyde Park, admitted Tuesday in Wallkill Town Court that he stole $405,843.25 from Wallkill between June 23, 2022, and Sept. 1, 2024, while assigned to audit the town on behalf of the state comptroller's office. <p>TOWN OF WALLKILL — Darren Gardner said it happened suddenly late Sunday afternoon: He heard a yelp and saw his 3-year-old pit bull, Supreme, with his mouth around his granddaughter's face.</p> <p>Gardner said he managed to get the dog off the girl; he ordered the animal onto the floor, but, he said, the dog had "snapped," and what followed was a series of vicious attacks that left Gardner with wounds to both forearms and his left leg as he put himself between the dog and his wife and granddaughter, then lured the dog out into a hallway.</p>
