Virginia state lawmakers moved a bill forward Thursday to slash taxpayer funding from abortion groups and redirect the money to comprehensive health care providers. The Virginia Capital News Service reports Virginia House Bill 1090 passed out of a state Senate committee in narrow 8-7 vote Thursday. The state House passed the bill in February, LifeNews reported. The full Senate is expected to vote on the bill Monday, according to the local news report. State Del. Benjamin Cline, R-Amherst, who sponsored the bill, said the legislation would defund Planned Parenthood and redirect the taxpayer funds to health care groups that provide...

The Washington region has emerged from the recession looking even more affluent compared with the rest of the country, boasting seven of the 10 counties with the highest household incomes in the nation, new census numbers show. With a median household income surpassing $119,000, Loudoun County heads the list. Fairfax County, at nearly $106,000, is second. Both have held the same positions for several years running. More surprising, Arlington County leapfrogged from the fifth spot to third, with a median household income of almost $101,000, a $6,000 gain in one year. Four in 10 households in the county are single...

Subject: McDonnell and Cuccinelli have the Koch Brothers - We have you Dear friend, Last weekend while you were enjoying the weather or catching up with chores around the house, do you know where your Governor and Attorney General were? If you guessed in Richmond creating jobs and making life better for Virginians I’m sorry to disappoint you. They were in Vail at a conference hosted by Charles and David Koch, the billionaire CEO’s who help bankroll the Tea Party and a score of other right-wing, anti-environment, anti-middle class causes. That’s right. While Virginia families struggle to find work and...

Conservative Wall Street Journal columnist Stephen Moore was delivering a luncheon address to a group of like-minded New Jersey voters in August when something unexpected happened. // Moore asked audience members to name their preferred presidential candidate in 2012. Several offered Ken Cuccinelli's name. "I was surprised, not because I don't think a lot of Ken," he said. "I was surprised people knew Ken." The fact that Garden State voters know Cuccinelli well enough to mention him in presidential speculation illustrates the rapid ascent of Virginia's hard-charging attorney general. In less than a decade, he's gone from an insurgent Republican...
