By Olivia Gans Turner, President, Virginia Society for Human Life (VSHL) For months VSHL has being alerting you to the very real threat of a “Right to Abortion Amendment” working through the General Assembly process. Well now we have learned that Virginia is not the only target state for the pro-abortion groups’ plans to create “safe haven” states where they could perform abortions with no life-saving regulations of any kind in the future. On October 20th a similar version of the bill was introduced by pro-abortion legislators in the New Jersey Assembly. The bill is every bit as radical in...

This story out of Virginia is really quite something. If I'm understanding it correctly, it very much appears as though the city's (Black, female) police chief was placed on administrative leave and then fired as retaliation for her investigation and attempted prosecution of criminal activity related to "Black Lives Matter" protests in the wake of George Floyd's killing. The only attempt at a justification for the firing I've found is that perhaps she was overzealous in the charges she pursued, and even that critique is disputable. There is also "an unspecified conflict of interest" that has not been established or...

Everybody assumed that Trump would lose in Virginia, a state that has been aggressively Democrat starting with Obama in 2008. When Virginia’s all-Democrat government enacted a slew of gun control laws, though, January saw huge Second Amendment protests in the state. Then the Wuhan Virus came along, the protests ended, and Virginia seemingly fell back into the blue zone. No one thought that it, too, might be one of the election fraud states – but that assumption may have been wrong. We already got a tip-off last week (although we didn’t realize it) that Virginia was probably yet another state in...

Together, the men had shipped crates of fraudulent votes back to New York. But their scheme was over. Wood reported the operation to authorities. Ferry’s office was searched, and on the morning of Oct. 27, 1864 — less than two weeks before the election — he and Donahue stood trial before a military commission.

Members of the House of Delegates expect it to pass. In the Senate, they give it “slightly better than 50-50 odds.” And Gov. Ralph Northam’s office says he’s “certainly open to it.” Proposals to legalize recreational marijuana in Virginia are set to get their first serious hearings when the General Assembly convenes in January and, at least for now, it looks like there’s a decent chance they could succeed... The movement in Virginia comes after voters in four states overwhelmingly approved referendums legalizing marijuana, bringing the total nationwide total to 15. If lawmakers in Virginia move forward, the state would...

Gov. Ralph Northam on Friday afternoon announced new COVID-19 restrictions for the state, limiting gatherings to 25 people both indoors and outdoors ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Northam administration will also ban the serving of alcohol after 10 p.m. statewide, echoing a measure put in place in the state's eastern region to limit bar-like activities. Northam said in a video announcement that restaurants will close at midnight. The restrictions go into effect Sunday night at midnight. The state will also ramp up enforcement of mask-wearing and social distancing inside essential retail businesses, much like it does currently inside restaurants,...

On a cold winter morning last February, a woman named Samantha assembled her AR-15 semi-automatic rifle in the parking area next to Timbrook Public Library in Campbell County, Virginia. Her husband, Chad, had his AR-15 in hand and commented, "I would trust going into a gun fight right next to my wife. I've seen her shoot." Samantha was one of a handful of women attending the call for volunteers to join a group calling itself the Campbell County Militia. Along with Chad and Samantha (who asked to have their last name withheld), over 200 people were at the event, most...

Bowser declares trip ‘essential,’ won’t quarantine Washington, D.C., mayor Muriel Bowser (D.) is not quarantining after attending Joe Biden’s victory speech in Wilmington, Del., saying it was "essential travel." The mayor, who has implemented some of the most restrictive coronavirus rules in the country, issued new travel rules on Monday but also said she won't be quarantining after traveling to celebrate Biden's win, Fox 5 D.C. reports. With Delaware on Bowser's list of 45 "high-risk" states, Washingtonians are required to quarantine for 14 days upon returning from Delaware on "nonessential" travel, yet she exempted herself because she met with Biden...

Richmond Circuit Court Judge Bradley B. Cavedo has filed a defamation suit against GOP U.S. Senate candidate Daniel Gade, asserting that during an Oct. 3 debate at Norfolk State University Gade falsely accused him of being "a known segregationist" and a "racist judge." Cavedo, citing damage to his personal and professional reputation, seeks $2 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages. Gade's campaign has said his assertions...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and freshmen members of the Democratic Party's left wing took fire from Rep. Abigail Spanberger during a Thursday conference call among House Democrats, with Spanberger blaming poor messaging on the party losing seats in the House of Representatives. Spanberger, a former CIA officer who narrowly flipped a traditionally red Virginia district in 2018, once again eked out a victory on Tuesday but said it shouldn't have been that close, and her caucus lost races they shouldn't have. "The number one concern that people brought to me in my race that I barely rewon was defunding the...
