It was inevitable. Hollywood types and the tech crowd, after advocating and voting in their idea of what a progressive utopia should look like, realize that they are not going to be exempt from its effects. So, what do they do? They move on to greener pastures, leaving the regular folks to live with the consequences.Look out, Austin: Hollywood and tech are converging on you like locusts.Should read Hollywood “stars” ascend upon Austin #Texas to ruin it like they did to #California https://t.co/M7qSOP0YWq— Will (@warr1979) August 8, 2021From the Hollywood Reporter:The Texas capital has undergone a pandemic influx unlike anywhere...

Can we now admit Rogan's great "Austin Migration" was a flop? The hype surrounding a mass arrival of comedians to Austin has been legendary.. and completely non-factual. Since late 2019, Joe Rogan announced to the world he would lead the relocation of the stand-up industry to Austin, Texas. As we evaluate the current situation, it becomes clear this project hasn't quite worked out like Joe, Austinites or his fans may have expected. In all fairness it hasn't been complete love with Rogan rocking the boat in Austin either.

Remember that promise of Joe Biden’s that he wasn’t going to raise taxes on people earning less than $400,000 per year?“If you make less than $400,000, you won’t see one single penny in additional federal tax,” Biden told George Stephanopoulos in March 2020.But then Psaki tried to fudge that by saying that they meant “families” earning that amount or suggesting that it referred to couples. Which, of course, has a completely different meaning and leaves individuals at much greater risk. But that is not the only place where the Democrats are trying to sneak something past us in regard to potential...

Presidential Press Secretary Jen Psaki boasted that "due to an evolution in 'outside-the-box' thinking that has energized the Biden Administration, the problem of unpatriotic dissemination of false narratives has been solved." "A key breakthrough was achieved when Attorney General Merrick Garland pointed out that the prohibition against government censorship in the Constitution applies only to Congress," she said. "Specifically, it says Congress shall pass no law abridging freedom of speech. There is no prohibition against the President doing this by executive order. Neither does it bar private corporations from censoring anyone it wants to censor." "Luckily, the major social media...

Good afternoon. I have family member taking a cross-country road trip from IL to WA. Standard SUV which is going to be packed with gear to the max. I am trying to find any state laws regarding just how high one can pack the backend of SUV without getting stopped by these "States' Finest" officers for rear window obstruction. Not much luck on specifics. It may just be common sense, but these days, one can never be too careful... Anyone with further information that lives in or has traveled through these states is appreciated.

It is not official yet but I am hearing that Canadian politicians are discussing the possibility that the US-Canada border may reopen to non-essential travelers with the Canadian position being that it should be open to fully vaccinated U.S. citizens wanting to visit Canada. Not sure what the U.S. position is on this. There was to be an announcement soon as the border closure formally ends July 21st. A one-month extension is expected but after August 21st there may be some limited travel possible. I know there are some people affected by the border closure because of the land access...

I had a similar experience this week with Delta, trying to book a flight while applying for a credit from a canceled trip last year. First, my wife tried to book the flight, but received an error message at the last step, telling her to call customer service. Then I tried it on the website, some parts of which were completely non-functional, including a page for entering credits which refused to apply them unless I also inputted a gift card (I had no such card.) When I attempted to call the customer service number Wednesday afternoon, I was told that...

Here is excerpt from Just the News article: The cost of gasoline has reached a seven-year high, and gas stations are expect to run out of fuel during the July 4 weekend. The average national price for regular gas is priced at $3.10, the highest it has been since October 2014. The price is up 2% from Memorial Day and 42% from this time last year as COVID-19 pandemic restrictions brought demand to a near halt, according to CNN. snip Experts say the gas shortages expected to occur this weekend have nothing to do with the rising price of gas...

Four young and healthy British Airways pilots recently passed away and the airline is claiming there is no link to the Covid-19 vaccine. The photo of the four books of condolence sitting next to framed pictures of the pilots was posted to Twitter and authenticated by Reuters. “Reuters presented the claims to British Airways, which said they were unfounded and that no such talks were underway with the government. The spokesperson, however, confirmed the authenticity of the four condolence books, as four company pilots had recently passed away. “Our thoughts are with their family and friends,” they said, adding that...

Social media video shows passengers helping get control of the man on Flight 1730 Friday night. A video from the incident on Saturday morning shows passengers scrambling to restrain the man during his attempt to open the cabin door mid-flight. The man had repeatedly shouted that he would “take the plane down” and assaulted two female flight attendants, a spokesperson for Oklahoma City Police Department told Insider. At one point, flight attendants called for able-bodied men on the flight to come help subdue the passenger. “Thanks to the crew and passengers of Delta Flight 1730 (LAX to ATL) who assisted...

Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) appeared on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports" to explain his Party's strategy for dealing with the surge of illegal immigration. "Republicans call this a border crisis," Carper said. "The truth is that it's not the border that is the source of the crisis. This crisis is in the countries these migrants are coming from. The willingness to undertake a long, grueling and dangerous journey stems from the appalling conditions in these migrants' home countries. These countries are places of crime, violence, corruption, and lack of economic opportunity and hope. Closing the border and deporting these refugees doesn't...

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announce the permanent termination of Trump's "remain in Mexico" policy. "The purpose of the policy was to reduce asylum fraud," Mayorkas observed. "However, the cruelty of stopping these long journeys on the one-yard line overwhelms this purpose." "The dream of coming to America is what has made our country a prime destination for huddled masses yearning to live free," Mayorkas said. "Our nation is rich enough to make this dream come true. We cannot allow the miserly policy of America first to prevail after voters rejected it last November. The idea of...

...Some experts caution that we’re on the precipice of a “rental car apocalypse,” citing examples of extreme pricing and sold-out cars. Whether or not apocalypse is a bit of hyperbole depends both on whom you ask and what city you’re renting a car in (and for what it’s worth, many car rental companies have plenty of availability). But on the whole, rental cars are generally in far higher demand than they were in 2019. What’s more, there are many cases where there’s simply not enough supply to keep up. Consider this: NerdWallet conducted a search in April 2021 for rental...

Having been cancelled last year, my work conference is back on again. I've never been to Tennessee other than to drive through it on the way to elsewhere (or fly over it) I know many areas can be a no-go zone due to urban danger. Any recommendations? I'll be traveling with my work group down there and probably not with hubby as he will most likely stay up here to continue working on a gut rehab (rental property)

The Biden Administration’s dispersal of illegal immigrant children around the country, dumping them in cities in the middle of the night without food and places to stay faced stern criticisms from Republicans. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) called the midnight unloading of hundreds of immigrants in Chattanooga “absolutely unacceptable. This is not a coherent plan for dealing with this issue. It’s an abuse of power and a human tragedy. What are these immigrants supposed to do in a city where they don’t speak the language, don’t have anyone to help them find a place to stay and get food?” Sen. Bill...

Martyrdom may be heroic. But as the most accomplished strategists in history would point out, when the circumstances are stacked against you, sometimes the right strategy is to NOT fight, and to pick your battles later from a position of strength.
