Martyrdom may be heroic.
But as the most accomplished strategists in history would point out, when the circumstances are stacked against you, sometimes the right strategy is to NOT fight, and to pick your battles later from a position of strength.

Remind me to never go anywhere with you.
3 AM for cigs...he’s baiting/trolling.
attempted mugging once on the part of the strip between the Strat and Circus Circus.
Anyone that has visited Las Vegas for ten minutes, knows the only way to cross through the area between Circus Circus and the stratosphere without inviting potential trouble is in a vehicle with the doors locked, absolutely not on foot, and certainly not at three in the morning.
I believe I should have included “a fast moving vehicle” as part of my post.
Some people just attract trouble.
Officer, I didn’t know this was a place that prostitutes did business. I just needed a smoke REAL bad...
You obviously don’t smoke..lol. When you need a smoke, you need a smoke. I walked around Firenze lost for two hours finding a Tabacchi shop at 5am. Ended up at a cathedral on the Arno waiting for a store to open in the pouring rain. Are saying I was trolling for trouble? Or do you think I am trolling here?
lol. Codeflier, that is probably a good idea if you don’t like excitement. I hate big cities but have to travel for work. I’d rather be in the Rockies riding my friend’s paint Rudy...lol.
Well, that was on my first trip. I was staying at the Strat, and it was probably 1000 yds. from me. I heard a guy walking behind me and turned around. Noticed a guy walking on the other side of the strip (west side) and he started to cross at an angle to cut me off. There was a construction fence on my right so i couldn’t egress that way. I picked up my pace and they both did too. Hit a full sprint and made into the 7-11 parking lot right before they got to me and they pealed off. Didn’t have a firearm on me luckily for them. This was appx 2003. Wasn’t as bad then. But the real walk you don’t want to take is between the Strat and downtown. Anybody who’s been in Vegas knows that.
The car-jacking in Denver there was a fast moving vehicle; my rental. I was leaving and driving through Larimer Sq. Sitting at a light. A latino dude walks up and sticks a revolver to the side of my head. As I was opening the door he moved the barrel which I grabbed and hit the gas. He managed to hang on to the pistol but I was through the intersection before he knew what was going on. He did shoot at me though. Got hit once in the back right fender. Luckily he didn’t hit the gas tank. I have a police report to back it up. The Denver PD was absolutely useless but I needed the report so I didn’t have to fork out a deductible for the damage. Still have the police report to back it up. I’d post it but I don’t really care if anyone believes me or not. Just go to Denver yourself and hang out around Larimer Sq long enough. That was about five years ago. Dude is probably still there. Colorado doesn’t reciprocate with my state’s CWP. Downtown Denver used to be filled with men in cowboy boots and hats. Now it is a trash pit.
“Some people just attract trouble”
Can’t argue with that. I’m getting older so my physical capabilities limit me. I don’t attract it. And never been a guy to start fights (except as an adolescent). I just don’t mind walking right into it.
Be a little more generous with your excerpts and please include the salient point. Thanks.
Was thinking more of a Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) situation.
