State and federal authorities have three men in custody here in what investigators describe as a possible terrorist plot by an obscure Islamic group in California state prisons. FBI officials, who are overseeing the investigation, say they are not convinced that the three men posed a serious threat of violence on their own. It doesn’t get any messier as Los Angeles police officers, involved in a statewide manhunt for an ex-LAPD colleague, came across vehicles matching the one sought by authorities in massive manhunt at two separate locations. The first location in Torrance involved Los Angeles police detectives from the Hollywood division, who got caught up in an officer involved shooting, which resulted in gunfire injuring two women that had been delivering newspapers.
