As small arts venues continue to struggle in New York, there’s a new reminder that not even big ones are immune to the same challenges. Times Square’s home for jazz, R&B and soul B.B. King Blues Club & Grill will have its final show on April 29 after an 18-year tenure on 42nd Street, owner Blue Note Entertainment Group announced on Tuesday. The company blamed escalating rent for the closure, and said it is looking to reopen B.B. King in a new Manhattan location. The closing comes just after owner Blue Note opened a new Times Square venue Sony Hall,...

Five rocky years since its arrival in tourist mecca Times Square, Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar from television rock star Guy Fieri will shutter. December 31 is the last day for the ill-received, yet still wildly popular restaurant that served as a touchstone for Fieri fans ... There were both very high highs and very low lows for Guy’s throughout the years — most famously when Fieri took home the top prize at the 2013 Food & Wine festival burger bash and most infamously when Times critic Pete Wells positively skewered the restaurant in an unprecedently scathing zero-star review...

Tiny Confederate flags are right under the noses of millions of straphangers passing through the Times Square subway station every day. The tile mosaics honor the late New York Times head Adolph S. Ochs, a Southerner with “strong ties to the Confederacy,” said Civil War historian Dr. David Jackowe. The tiles were installed more than 90 years ago when stations were adorned with symbols to honor prominent figures — in this case, the Tennessee-raised Ochs, who was buried with a Confederate flag after his death in 1935.

The MTA says it is going to “modify” tiles in a Manhattan subway station that people have complained look like Confederate Flags. The pattern of tiles have been in the Times Square station for almost 100 years. The architects are said to have installed them to pay homage to the Southern roots of former New York Times newspaper head Adolph S. Ochs. The MTA has claimed the tiles actually are meant to honor Times Square’s nickname as the “Crossroads of the World” and are not Confederate Flags. …

Muslims and Muslim sympathizers protested Donald Trump today in New York’s Times Square. Chelsea Clinton boasted about being there with her daughter, Charlotte. Hamas darling, Linda Sarsour was also there spreading hysteria and propaganda about President Donald Trump. In Sarsour’s speech, she reminded people about the executive order that Democratic President FDR passed which put Japanese Americans in internment camps implying that Muslims and minorities could possibly suffer the same fate under a Trump presidency. There was also a loud Arab call to prayer during this protest in NYC. In an Islamic call to prayer (adhan), the Muslim is shouting...

The media have lost their minds after Trump's magnificent speech on Monday. It's all hands on deck, no attack is too extreme. Their main point is: DO NOT LOOK AT THAT SPEECH. It has "words that wound." Much too dangerous even to read it. Instead of reporting what Trump said, the media give us the "gist" of it (in the sense of an unrecognizable distortion). It was awful, Hitlerian, beneath our dignity as a nation. They lie about what he said and then attack their own lies as if they're attacking Trump. The Washington Post's headline, which got their reporters...

The Temple of Baal is NOT coming to Times Square in New York City next month. This is great news, and it represents an incredible victory for Christians in the United States. As you will see below, the New York Times, Snopes and a whole host of other mainstream news sources reported last month that everything was on track for reproductions of the giant 48-foot-tall arch that stood in front of the Temple of Baal in Palmyra, Syria to be put up simultaneously in Times Square in New York City and Trafalgar Square in London during the month of April....

Robert J. Burck, better known as the Naked Cowboy, who plays his guitar and poses for pictures in briefs and cowboy boots, noted that, on Thursday, only one of the women had shown up, and quickly attracted all the attention. “It was like Michael Jackson was here, because everybody couldn’t wait to see a naked girl,” he said. He said that he tried to be amicable with everyone who worked on the plaza, but that his wife and sister-in-law, who wear bikinis and play guitars as the Naked Cowgirls, made more money when the topless women, known as desnudas (Spanish...

Faisal Shahzad, Subprime Terrorist?Well, one way of falling behind with your house payments is to take half a year off to go to Pakistan and train in a terrorist camp. The story of the Times Square bomber reads like some Urdu dinner-theater production of Mel Brooks’s The Producers that got lost in translation between here and Peshawar: A man sets out to produce the biggest bomb on Broadway since Dance a Little Closer closed on its opening night in 1983. Everything goes right: He gets a parking space right next to Viacom, owners of the hated Comedy Central! But then...

Here’s a new low in Washington cluelessness: The feds say Times Square’s iconic billboards must come down or New York will lose highway money. Supposedly, a 2012 law put the crossroads of the world under the restrictions of the 1965 Highway Beautification Act — which limits signs to 1,200 square feet. Now Washington is pushing the city Department of Transportation to comply. Earth to Uncle Sam: Don’t be a jerk.
