As a Canadian, I am familiar with the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program, which has allowed eligible adults to request assisted death services since the federal legislation passed in June 2016. As of this year, the MAID program was also set to allow those with mental illness to choose euthanasia.

A Florida man who said he was a registered nurse threatened Orange County sheriff’s deputies after he was arrested following a drunken scene at Disney Springs. Edward Stephenson, 30, of Brandon, pleaded not guilty in March to trespass, according to Orange Circuit Court records. “It took three deputies to place his arms behind his back and secure him,” Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report said. “Once secured, he continued to tell deputies he was going to sue deputies. Conservative lawyer George Conway said former President Donald Trump is inciting violence by telling millions of people that he's "being persecuted for no valid reason" in relation to the Mar-a-Lago probe. Conway, when asked by CNN in Friday interview if he would characterize Trump's response as a "threat," said that he would. "Yes, absolutely," Conway said. "I mean he's basically saying, 'What a nice country you have here, too bad if something would happen to it.'"

A Maryland man was arrested for repeatedly threatening to harm Dr. Anthony Fauci and his family, along with another top doctor. Thomas Patrick Connally Jr., 56, allegedly sent multiple emails that repeatedly threatened acts of gun violence, physical beatings, torture and arson, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday. The profanity-laced missives were sent from an encrypted Swiss-based email account between December and last week, and were filled with conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic and homophobic comments, documents allege.

A Florida woman was arrested Saturday for threatening to “shoot” Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott in a tweet, a report said Monday. The woman, 55-year-old Karen Jones of Palm Beach County, allegedly posted in the tweet: ““DeSantis, Rick Scott and Marco Rubio are looting my state. Imma shoot them,” the Miami Herald reported. The tweet was retweet of a Washington Post reporter who had shared an article about proposed “anti-mob” legislation that would expand Florida’s “stand your ground law.”
