Gun-toting action star Matt Damon of The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Departed, says he wishes the U.S. would implement a gun ban similar to the one Australia implemented in the 1990s. Appearing in Sydney, Australia, for his latest gun-toting action film, Jason Bourne, Damon praised Australia’s gun ban and said he wishes the U.S. would follow the Aussies’ lead. According to Stuff, Damon said, “You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk...

“The Departed” deserved to win the Oscar for Best Picture. But it is,of course, a work of fiction. And truth is always stranger, and gorier, than fiction. Just check out these state police crime-scene photos, which have never been published. These pictures, taken in Revere on the last day of 1976, chronicle another chapter in the sordid story of Whitey Bulger unlikely to make the sequel to “The Departed.” The dead man in the trunk is Richie Castucci, a 48-year-old FBI informant. An FBI agent tipped off two other FBI informants that Castucci was working for the feds, and the...

Martin Scorsese Scores Upset at Critics Choice Awards Amid Oscar FeverSaturday, January 13, 2007By Roger FriedmanMartin Scorsese got a big surprise last night and scored an upset victory at the Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica, Calif. His movie, “The Departed,” won Best Film and he took home honors as Best Director. It was Scorsese’s best showing ever at an awards show, and a legitimate one at that. He joked to the crowd, “It’s the first I tried to make that has a plot.” This big win for “The Departed” puts a slight dent in what looked like a sure...

I almost never do vanity posts but I have seen three movies lately that I want to comment on. I thoroughly enjoyed two of these movies, The Guardian, and Fly Boys, in spite of fact that the professional film critics were generally dismissive of them as being cliché ridden.
