Barack Obama's massive pre-primary rally in Portland, OR, was aided in no small part by the appearance of an uber-hip band. Their gimmick? Sheesh! In an unbelievable display of a lack of common sense, the Obama campaign chose The Decemberists as the band to perform prior to the arrival of the Obamassiah last weekend in Portland. For those unfamiliar with the Decemberists, they often open their acts with a rendition of the national anthem...of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. I kid you not. I found one of their Soviet Anthem tunes on YouTube but the quality really stinks and all you see is mostly darkness and people yaketty-yakking in the background.
