China reported more than 31,000 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, a record level that comes as the country maintains its “zero COVID” approach roughly three years into the pandemic. China on Thursday reported 31,656 new cases over the previous 24 hours, the highest daily figure since the country first detected the virus in Wuhan in late 2019. The country has continued to implement its strategy of eliminating cases entirely, including aggressive lockdowns and containment measures after most of the rest of the world loosened their pandemic restrictions. But China’s strategy has also limited those who were exposed to the virus,...

An official federal government tally missed nearly 16,000 COVID-19 nursing home deaths that occurred during the early months of the pandemic, according to new research published Thursday. Those missing numbers account for 14 percent of all nursing home deaths in 2020, the study found. Across the 20 states with available data, the study, led by Harvard researcher Karen Shen and published in the JAMA Network Open, found that 44 percent of all COVID-19 cases and 40 percent of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes counted by state health departments went unreported in the federal data.

Marine veteran Brian Tally has been fighting to change Department of Veterans Affairs policy for two-and-a-half-years, and his bill is the closest it has ever been to becoming law after it passed the Senate on Wednesday. Tally’s namesake “Tally Bill” seeks to change a 74-year-old legal loophole that shields VA contractors from malpractice. His bill took shape as one of many amendments in S.Amdt.2696, which was made to a House of Representatives bill, H.R.7105. The next step is another vote in the House to approve the Senate’s amendments, and then the bill heads to President Trump’s desk. Tally’s amendment requires...

Confirmed cases of coronavirus are surging across the planet, with Europe at the forefront, and have now passed 40 million, according to data released early Monday morning by Johns Hopkins University. For the first time, the White House said, the federal government has counted the green cards issued between 2005 and 2015 to migrants admitted through family preference, or as immediate relatives of migrants already admitted into the country in perhaps the fullest portrait of “chain migration” ever developed. “For years, we've known that large numbers of immigrants have been coming based on petitions from previous immigrants,” U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Lee Cissna told Fox News. “But this is the first time we really kind of see the whole scope of the problem. And legislators or policymakers at DHS...

Final tally shows Trump lost popular vote by 2.8 million – but he BEAT Clinton by 3 million votes outside of California and New York Clinton won California by 4.2 million votes and New York by 1.6 million, running up the score in places where she would have won no matter what Outside of those two liberal states, Trump was 3 million votes ahead California alone accounted for more than Clinton's national popular-vote edge Newt Gingrich mocked: 'This is football season. A team can have more yards and lose the game. What matters is how many points you put on...

A Westchester mom got the best therapy possible for her deep depression over Hillary Clinton’s stunning defeat — when she ran right into her hero while out for a hike in the woods. Clinton looked happy as a clam in a comfy pair of leggings and boots — sans makeup — as she walked her toy poodle mix, Tally, with her hubby, Bill, near their Chappaqua home. Margot Gerster, who had her young daughter in a carrier on her back, described the chance encounter in an emotional Facebook post that was shared nearly 50,000 times by early Thursday evening. “I’ve...

Here’s one of the more important questions for any contemporary history exam, but one you nonetheless won’t find on any test: 13.) How many deadly terror attacks committed in the name of Islam have occurred since September 11, 2001? a) 234 b) 701 c) 4,049 d) 24,795 Here’s the basic methodology used by the compilers: “The list of terrorist attacks committed by Muslims since 9/11/01 is incomplete because not all such attacks are picked up by international news sources, even those resulting in multiple loss of life. These are not incidents of ordinary crime involving nominal Muslims killing for money...

Follow the link to the secretary of State's official election tally results. It shows Bush winning Nevada by a substantial margin. It was a sweeping victory for incumbents in nearly every race, with WAY too many D's being elected. We lost Don Gustavson, probably the most conservative member of the assembly. We also lost Ron Knecht. I am not a pro at this, but it looks like we lost republican seats overall in the assembly, not good! I only hope the results are not really as gloomy as they appear to me at first glance. Senate appears to have gone...
