I just head on the Rush show (with guest host today) that Kerry has asked for time on 60 minutes and Meet the Press the day before the Republican Convention to make an apology to Vietnam Vets? Haven't heard it anywhere else. Is this just a trial balloon? Or is Kerry going to flip-flop again.

Even a blind man can see that the Press is desperately trying to kill the Swift Vet story. They've tried ignoring them, but that didn't work. Then they (i.e. the New York Times, Washington Post, etc.) tried character-assassinating them, but that's not working either (it's not that easy to slash down 250+ people). The latest attempt is the New York Times' dumb idea that showing that a Swift Vet seven years ago was Karl Rove's father's mother's uncle's sister's cousin's nephew's godson's best friend's lawyer would cause voters to "naturally" assume that Bush is mind controlling all 250+ Swift Vets...

The Kerry response to the Swift Vets for the Truth is that these charges area a baseless smear on Kerry. Kerry's handlers are going into WJClinton defense mode: Regardless of the accuracy of the charges, divert attention from them by attacking the accusers. That defense did not prevent Clinton from being Impeached, but it did keep him from being removed from office. I do not think this tactic can relied on in this case since the standard that needs to be met is a bit higher. Kerry is running for the approval of the American people, not the Senate.

In a few days the CFR 60 day limitation on soft money ads ( aka those not paid for directly by the party or by the candidate ). This is going to impact the Swift Boat Veterans. The liberal press ignores most the facts, but even the few friendly reporters or comentators may not know much of what is known here. In addition to posting here, it is important to email them when they do not raise or refute a point sothey will be better prepared to do so in the future. It is also important to write letters to the editor. We can't just preach to the choir here.
