I just head on the Rush show (with guest host today) that Kerry has asked for time on 60 minutes and Meet the Press the day before the Republican Convention to make an apology to Vietnam Vets? Haven't heard it anywhere else. Is this just a trial balloon? Or is Kerry going to flip-flop again.

Even a blind man can see that the Press is desperately trying to kill the Swift Vet story. They've tried ignoring them, but that didn't work. Then they (i.e. the New York Times, Washington Post, etc.) tried character-assassinating them, but that's not working either (it's not that easy to slash down 250+ people). The latest attempt is the New York Times' dumb idea that showing that a Swift Vet seven years ago was Karl Rove's father's mother's uncle's sister's cousin's nephew's godson's best friend's lawyer would cause voters to "naturally" assume that Bush is mind controlling all 250+ Swift Vets...

The book burning Libs are hijacking the sites intended for giving a thumbs up or down to make political statements and disenfranchising the reputation of the "Swifties" with rhetoric. I encourage all those out there that appreciate the courage of the Swifties to take a stand for truth check out the sites.

Bush rips third-party ads, is mum on anti-Kerry push John E. O'Neill said that his associates are developing a database of former swift boat veterans, "focusing on people from each state," who can keep questions about his service three decades ago in the spotlight. Originally buoyed by a $200,000 donation from a major Republican backer in Houston, the swift boat group now says it has raised $1.56 million from more than 24,000 donors, mostly since the organization began running ads attacking Kerry after the Democratic convention. "Our media strategy is to follow him," both with paid advertising and press...

NEW YORK As the John Kerry swift boat controversy navigates itself from the shoreline of the 2004 presidential campaign into the mainstream, newspapers face a dilemma of how to report on the attacks against the Democratic nominee without giving them undue credibility or blowing the issue out of proportion. Alison Mitchell, deputy national editor for The New York Times (Click for QuikCap), points to the changing media landscape and its impact on what newspapers choose to cover. "I'm not sure that in an era of no-cable television we would even have looked into it," she said. But Washington Post Executive...

The Soros-Kerry Connection Written by Doc Farmer Tuesday, August 24, 2004 Politics is an ugly business. Politics also makes for rather bizarre bedfellows. In terms of vitriol, spite, chutzpah, and sheer hit-for-way-too-long-with-an-ugly-stick repulsiveness, 2004 has plumbed new depths. It started in 2003, before the lib/dem/soc/commie candidate had even been selected from the gang of nine, with well-financed hatred focused on one man. Dubya. For a year, we’ve heard the same refrain. ABB – Anybody But Bush. Anybody could include Saddam, Hitler, bin Laden, Mao, Stalin, etc., but for the lib/dem/soc/commies, Hey, that’d be just fine. Besides, they’re all closer to...

For 35 years, Rich Baker seldom talked about Vietnam, Swift boats or John Kerry's ability as a young naval officer. But now, with Republican partisans challenging Kerry's wartime record, Baker said he feels compelled to strike back. "Every Swift boat officer gave his all in Vietnam, but Kerry stood above the rest of us," said Baker, 61, of Scott, a former Navy lieutenant and Swift boat commander. "He was number one as far as courageousness and aggressiveness. He set the tone." Campaign aides to Kerry, the Democratic candidate for president, yesterday asked Baker to speak out publicly to counter television...

SPRINGFIELD, VA (AP) - Nguyen Ngoc Loan, whose execution of a Viet Cong prisoner on the streets of Saigon in 1968 became one of the most chilling images of the Vietnam War, died Tuesday. -snip- On Feb. 1, 1968, Loan was director of South Vietnam's national police and the North Vietnamese had just begun the Tet Offensive, their huge military push southward. Firefights had broken out all over Saigon, and Loan's police were trying to rid the South Vietnamese capital of Viet Cong guerrillas. Loan led the prisoner, his hands bound, onto a street corner and in front of a...

Vietnam veteran John O’Neil, spokesman of the organization calling itself “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth,” released a devastating ad condemning Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry as being unable to “lead,” and further calling him dishonest, a betrayer to his shipmates, and most devastating of all, a “liar” regarding the commission of at least one of the Purple Hearts he received. The outrage that quivered off the lips of the Kerry campaign was, understandably, filled with anger and disbelief. (www.swiftvets.com/) Calling a special press conference in May at the National Press Club in Washington, O’Neil and 25 other veterans who served...

KERRY CAN'T TAKE IT Let me begin this bit by addressing those of you who are getting fed up with this presidential election. I'm with you. There are so many issues we could be concentrating on in a presidential election. We could be discussing Social Security reform and explaining to the black men of this country that, on the average, each and every one of them will see about $10,000 of their life's earnings seized for redistribution to an old white woman. We could have presidential candidates with competing ideas of tax reform. I, for instance, yearn for the last...

The Kerry response to the Swift Vets for the Truth is that these charges area a baseless smear on Kerry. Kerry's handlers are going into WJClinton defense mode: Regardless of the accuracy of the charges, divert attention from them by attacking the accusers. That defense did not prevent Clinton from being Impeached, but it did keep him from being removed from office. I do not think this tactic can relied on in this case since the standard that needs to be met is a bit higher. Kerry is running for the approval of the American people, not the Senate.

In a few days the CFR 60 day limitation on soft money ads ( aka those not paid for directly by the party or by the candidate ). This is going to impact the Swift Boat Veterans. Kerry on the other hand will be smack dab in the middle of dealing with the issues they have raised. If Kerry & Kompany directly make statements against the swift boat vets then it would seem to me that would open up the achilles heal of CFR, Free Speach. If these guys are being discredited personally then don't they have the right to...

You be the judge if Sen. Kerry or his cast of crew can be trusted to tell the truth.... October 27, 1996,  business columnist David Warsh wrote for the Boston Globe about discrepancies in recent accounts of the day Kerry won the Silver Star. He quoted Sen. Kerry's former crewmate during an interview, Tom Belodeau,  as saying, "You know, I shot that guy. He jumped up, he looked right at me, I looked at him. You could tell he was trying to decide whether to shoot or not. I expected the guy on Kerry's boat with the twin 50s...

Swift Boat Accounts Incomplete Sun Aug 22,11:04 AM ET By Michael Dobbs, Washington Post Staff Writer [Excerpt] An investigation by The Washington Post into what happened that day suggests that both sides have withheld information from the public record and provided an incomplete, and sometimes inaccurate, picture of what took place. But although Kerry's accusers have succeeded in raising doubts about his war record, they have failed to come up with sufficient evidence to prove him a liar. …On the core issue of whether Kerry was wounded under enemy fire, thereby qualifying for a third Purple Heart, the Navy records...

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads and the book Unfit for Command have traction and have legs. But, we must not just discuss them here. The liberal press ignores most the facts, but even the few friendly reporters or comentators may not know much of what is known here. In addition to posting here, it is important to email them when they do not raise or refute a point sothey will be better prepared to do so in the future. It is also important to write letters to the editor. We can't just preach to the choir here.

Former swift boat officer, William Rood, has broke 35 years of silence about the Feb. 28, 1969 mission that he, as skipper of the PCF-23, had participated alongside Sen. Kerry's swift boat (PCF-94) that had lead to Kerry receiving a Silver Star by killing an enemy soldier while preparing to fire a B-40 rocket at their beached swift boat. The reason Rood, 61, has broken his 35 years of silence is because Kerry had personally contacted him and other crew members in recent days asking that they go public with their accounts of what happened on that day he...

In a new ad entitled "George Bush is up to his old tricks" Kerry launches a counter attack to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads. The ad shows John McCain excoriating Bush for "standing beside' a veteran who claimed the McCain had abandoned the Vietnam Veterans. My first impression is that the ad is a very effective response, making it look as though George Bush orchestrated the attack against McCain and is doing the same to Kerry now. However, I believe that is not the case. Standing beside someone is not attacking McCain. It sounded like a bit of...

I see bad fortune for Freepers in the future. If any of you have hopes and ambitions, yo'd better not link your identity to freeper handle. I see more smear campaigns like the one against O'Neil, IRS audits against Democrat enemies ala Clintonistas and on and on. This use of John's comments as a obfuscation tool in the swift boat case against Kerry is the first attack I can remember against a Freeper in this way. Of course he did some work with the site in some way that exposed him and his record on the site because of the...
