I see there is an idea being floated by President Trump regarding a "sovereign wealth fund" wherein taxpayer monies, controlled by a federal government entity, would be used to buy interests in private business. Trump says maybe the SWF would invest in Tik Tok, and other companies. Someone help me make sense of this: what is this if not socialism, or direct government control of what ought to be a private sector interest. I don't like this idea.

Evidence in FBI hands shows Biden called Italian region president, lobbied French ambassador, and targeted sovereign wealth funds The world was on fire in February 2014, and Joe Biden was President Obama's point man for many of the crises. Russia had shocked the West by invading the Crimean region of Ukraine. Syria was engulfed in a bloody civil war with ISIS. And Iraq was rocked by a wave of terrorist bombings that killed more than 100 civilians. Hunter Biden, the vice president's son, and his colleagues at Rosemont Seneca Partners and related businesses found it the perfect time to conquer...

"I don't think that the euro can replace the dollar and a system with two major reserve currencies? Not a stable system," he told a Brussels event organized by the Centre for European Policy Studies think tank....

In his closely-watched annual letter to shareholders, the 77-year-old billionaire investor revealed he had chosen four unnamed candidates to replace him as chief investment officer of Berkshire Hathaway, his conglomerate, when he dies or steps down. Berkshire has a...

US Treasury cautions China over sovereign wealth fund by P. Parameswaran Thu Feb 7, 5:31 PM ET The US Treasury cautioned China Thursday against using profits derived from its cash-flush sovereign investment fund to delay currency reform, as the fund's maneuvers came under Congressional scrutiny. The China Investment Corporation Ltd. (CIC), launched in September with 200 billion dollars capital, wants to boost investment returns on China's massive foreign reserves and manage reform of domestic financial institutions. "China should not use the earnings of its sovereign wealth fund to delay the continued increase in the flexibility of China's currency," US Treasury's...

Queen sells landmark to Dubai fund By Daniel Thomas Wed Feb 6, 8:15 PM ET Sovereign wealth funds from the Middle East are benefiting from the sovereign's wealth - by buying a landmark West End building from the Crown Estate. On Wednesday, a consortium backed by Istithmar, the property arm of the Dubai government, paid £130m ($255m) for the 130-year-old Metropole building in London which was part of the Queen's property portfolio. The sale is the latest signal of the forces now driving the capital's property market - no longer the "old money" of the aristocratic estates but the newer...

The Iraq war has probably killed the idea of using U.S. troops to intervene in the name of Mr. Bush's "world democratic revolution." The Middle American revolt that killed amnesty for the 12 million illegal aliens has buried the idea of open-borders immigration. Come now the SWFs, which may bring an end to America's folly in her unthinking embrace of global free trade. What are SWFs? They are Sovereign Wealth Funds – huge capital funds controlled by regimes that are the big new boys on the block in the world of global finance. How are SWFs created? Primarily from the...

I'm here in South Dakota with a tight race between John Thune(R) and Tim Johnson(D). I think I could reach quite a few undecideds and RINOs who may be voting for Johnson. I want to write a flash movie (swf) that could be circulated and maybe swing even one vote. Most of SD is embarrassed of Daschle, but he's got a lot of the "Geritol for Lunch Bunch" scared about the wascally wepubricans. I would appreciate any ideas of how to best illustrate the need for Republicans to vote Republican. Ya know, "Come home". I think the Torch-Daschle connection has...
