An Australian actress was fighting for life in ICU after suffering a stroke caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine's rare blood-clotting side effect. My father is in his late 70's, type-1 diabetic, requires oxygen, and has been very clear - do not resuscitate, or any significant treatment if something happened. He's had a long life and is content, doesn't want to burden. His right arm stopped moving, 911 called - ended up in ICU, he had a stroke. They thought he would pass but now it appears he has lost motor control on his entire right side and is in EXACTLY the circumstances he didn't want to be in, it looks like he will live. My mother won't be able to care for...

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado. — A gynecologic oncologist at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood said she is seeing more late-stage cervical cancer cases because so many women put off their screening tests during the pandemic. “Screening went down drastically during the pandemic, especially during the times of lockdown,” Dr. Allison Staley said. Additionally, she said as women skipped their PAP and HPV tests, some cancers, or abnormalities went undiagnosed, and now she is seeing more late-stage cancers. “The majority of them are further along, they are more advanced, and we’re seeing that people are having to have additional hospitalization for further work...

New findings from Cleveland Clinic researchers show for the first time that the gut microbiome impacts stroke severity and functional impairment following stroke. The results, published in Cell Host & Microbe, lay the groundwork for potential new interventions to help treat or prevent stroke. The research was led by Weifei Zhu, Ph.D., and Stanley Hazen, M.D., Ph.D., of Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute. The study builds on more than a decade of research spearheaded by Dr. Hazen and his team related to the gut microbiome's role in cardiovascular health and disease, including the adverse effects of TMAO (trimethylamine N-oxide)—a byproduct...

The mother and girlfriend of the late Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick said they were disappointed that Republicans decided to filibuster a bill to form a bipartisan commission looking into the Jan. 6 insurrection, with his girlfriend saying the votes against the legislation speak "volumes." In an appearance on CNN, Gladys Sicknick, Brian Sicknick’s mother, and Sandra Garza, his girlfriend, expressed dismay that the bill was defeated, saying it would have provided more details on the Jan. 6 riot that precipitated Brian Sicknick’s death. “A lot of them would default to the ‘Well, it’s very partisan.’ Well, that’s baloney,” said...

In the U.S., a Miami physician died following complications of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) after his first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. ITP is a rare autoimmune condition in which the body generates autoantibodies to its own platelets, resulting in low platelet counts, blood clots, and bleeding if the platelet count drops very low. About 50,000 adults are diagnosed with ITP in the U.S. per year. Risk is increased in young women and people with other autoimmune conditions. In a case series, James Bussel, MD, and colleagues reviewed 20 reports of thrombocytopenia after receipt of the Pfizer and Moderna...

TUCSON, Ariz., April 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- More than a dozen countries worldwide temporarily stopped administering the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID vaccine, notes the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), because of deaths from blood clotting disorders, with either clots or excessive bleeding. Some patients experienced the extremely rare event of clots in the veins that drain blood from the brain (venous sinus thrombosis). Most countries resumed use after a short pause, when the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said the shot isn't associated with an increase in the overall risk of developing blood clots, and the benefits of using the vaccine...

In the latest slew of "mini-stroke" hit pieces against the president, the once-conservative Drudge Report titled its headlining story, "Trump Denies Mini-Stroke Sent Him To Hospital." The news aggregation site sourced a CNN video of President Donald Trump allegedly dragging his right leg while touring a North Carolina laboratory back in July. Trump on Tuesday denied the leftist spin that he suffered "a series of mini-strokes" prompting an unscheduled visit to Walter Reed hospital in November 2019. Trump's physician, Dr. Sean Conley, even cleared his health record in a statement, affirming that Trump is "fit to execute the duties of...

Statins are not particularly effective at reducing the risk of dying from heart disease, a study claims. Scientists analysed 35 studies into the effects of the drugs which lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol and found the pills have no consistent benefit. The research, published in the British Medical Journal, found three quarters of all trials reported no reduction in mortality among those who took the drugs. And half of all studies suggested that cholesterol-busting pills did not prevent heart attacks or strokes. The research flies in the face of decades of medical advice. Authors claimed doctors have overlooked evidence that suggests...
