Oncologist sees more late-stage cervical cancers after pandemic delays screenings

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado. — A gynecologic oncologist at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood said she is seeing more late-stage cervical cancer cases because so many women put off their screening tests during the pandemic.

“Screening went down drastically during the pandemic, especially during the times of lockdown,” Dr. Allison Staley said.

Additionally, she said as women skipped their PAP and HPV tests, some cancers, or abnormalities went undiagnosed, and now she is seeing more late-stage cancers.

“The majority of them are further along, they are more advanced, and we’re seeing that people are having to have additional hospitalization for further work up and treatment,” Staley said.

For some people with advanced cancer, their only option may be chemotherapy and radiation.

“Catching it early is always better,” Staley said.

She said she hopes that women will get their screenings, and that anyone with abnormal results will follow up quickly.

Remember when the Democrats pretended that they were ALL ABOUT women's bodies, women's health and women's choice?

Yeah, they never were...

Yeah pretty sure these deaths won’t be counted as lockdown casualties.

Many more cancers also got a foothold. I’m sure the MSM will report on this any day now.

Cleveland Clinic, a man arrived with stroke symptoms... According to Dr. Thomas Waters, an emergency room physician, a man with a stroke had waited two days to come in to the ER because he was afraid of the coronavirus.

There was nothing doctors could do to prevent permanent brain damage.

It’s going to take a decade or more to recover from the lack of regular health care the shutdowns caused.

Loneliness is a big killer - we are social species.

Old people who get no visitors decline rapidly. It is also very hard on the young.

There was a story in Australia about a young man who had an existing problem with depression, but was doing better, and got his barista qualification. Then, the lockdown hit. He died by suicide. His family blamed the lockdown. Isolation from other young people pulled him down very low. The news story was removed, after 48 hours, I think because the Australian authorities don't want anyone saying that. But suicide rates are at an all time high. They can't suppress that figure.
