Storm chaser, Tim Samaras, his son Paul and crew member, Carl Young were killed Friday in a tornado that ripped through El Reno, Oklahoma. Samaras followed storms for over 30 years. His fascination with tornadoes began when he was about six years old and saw the tornado in The Wizard of Oz. Samaras once stated, “My passion for storm chasing has always been driven by the beautiful and powerful storms displayed in the heartland each spring."

Storm chaser Tim Samaras was killed Friday doing what he loved: chasing tornadoes. He and his son Paul perished in the El Reno, Oklahoma tornado along with frequent partner on storm chasing adventures, photographer Carl Young. Samaras had a long relationship with National Geographic, providing some of our most memorable videos of storms.

It is with heavy hearts that we report to you storm chaser Andy Gabrielson died in a car accident Saturday near Tulsa, Okla. On his way home from a storm chase in Texas over the last few days, Gabrielson was involved in a head-on collision in the town of Sapulpa, which was confirmed by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. George Brown said a wrong-way driver struck a vehicle head-on, westbound in the eastbound traffic lane. Hi i am looking for peoples comments please post here. I was one of the first stormchasers and rescue personell on scene MESO my group were helping with search and rescue, communications, command and making sure the scene safe. MESO is going to issue a memorial plaque to the citizens and city. Even more importantly our photographer stopped helping folks to take pictured to record this event.
