News broke Monday morning that Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO) was dropping her Congressional Seat in Missouri’s 8th District. Emerson’s late husband held the seat since 1981 until he passed away leaving her to succeed him in 1996. According to area politicos, the Emersons were instrumental in turning the District from Democrat to Republican. The 8th District of Missouri represents the southeast portion of the state and former U.S. Senate Candidate, Sarah Steelman lives there.

The domestic violence in Shepard’s past is both shocking and repulsive in detail. On February 15, 1998, police were called to then-Mrs. Shepard’s house (the couple had been separated since June of the previous year) by a girlfriend. According to the police report (.pdf file), Mrs. Shepard said of her husband: Read on. Joseph entered my home. I told him to leave. He came up to me looking angry. I put my hands up to protect my breasts as they are sore (cancer). He has hit me before in the breast. He grabbed my wrist and arm and pushed me...
  • MO Senate Race: Why Not a Write-in Candidate? It worked in Alaska

Well, this is a "Hail Mary" pass, but does anyone think it would be possible to pit a write-in candidate against McCaskill in the MO Senate race? It worked for Lisa Murkowski in Alaska 2 years ago. I'm thinking that with all the publicity the Todd Akin statement has brought to this race, it might work. Maybe Sarah Steel with strong support from Sarah Palin? I dunno. I don't really care who it is as long as they are Conservative. I know some folks on here think Sarah Steel in not Conservative "enough". But, at least she's not McCaskill. Anyhow,...

Check out the headline below from the Hill dated Aug. 12. Governor Sarah Palin endorsed Sarah Steelman in Missouri and not Todd Akin:(GRAPHIC AT LINK)(In light of the very weird political drama unfolding right now in Missouri, Governor Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Sarah Steelman sure seems politically wiser than the endorsement of Rep Todd Akin! I don’t know anything about Steelman – I did not follow the race closely – but I can’t imagine anyone could be a more difficult candidate for the Republican Party than Akin. He potentially hands the race to his political opponent Sen Claire McCaskill plus...

August 20, 2012 AKIN WILL WITHDRAW: WHAT HAPPENS NOW? Mike Flynn ........ At some point before 5pm CDT tomorrow, Akin will file papers to formally withdraw his name from the ballot. I realize today Akin was defiant and said he wasn't a "quitter." His supporters claim he will stay in the race because he views his candidacy as "providential", but this is just the bluster before the end. Everyone is entitled to 24 hours to try to right their ship, but Akin did nothing today to cauterize the wound. When Reince Priebus, Ann Coulter, NRSC and Tea Party Express are...

The nation's largest tea party political action committee, the Tea Party Express, is calling on Rep. Todd Akin to step down as Missouri's Republican nominee for a Senate seat on Monday following controversial comments the congressman made about rape. Answering a question about whether he thought abortion should be legal in cases of rape, Akin said in an interview Sunday that in instances of "legitimate rape" the female body has ways of stopping a potential pregnancy. Video of the interview was posted online by the liberal super PAC American Bridge. Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said in a statement...

U.S. Rep. Todd Akin of Wildwood is leading in the hard-fought battle of conservatives for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, according to early statewide returns. With 515 of the state's 3,428 precints reporting, Akin has 32,050 votes, or 34 percent; followed by 29,675 for former state treasurer Sarah Steelman of Rolla, at 31 percent; and 28,463 for businessman John G. Brunner of Frontenac with 28,463 votes, or 30 percent. Five other candidates trail far behind. There will be much more to count as the night goes on. The winner will face Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is seeking re-election to...

Analysis: Thus far, the former VP candidate Sarah Palin has endorsed four Senate candidates in competitive Republican primaries. All four have won. Tomorrow, she could extend that winning streak to five if Republican former Missouri state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, for whom Palin stumped this weekend, wins a three-way GOP primary contest. Like any good athlete, Palin has an impeccable sense of timing. And, she's keenly aware of the environment in which she's competing. Despite the fact that the Tea Party failed to field a credible presidential candidate, the mood of the GOP primary electorate remains as anti-establishment as ever. Palin...

Sarah Palin stepped out in Kansas yesterday wearing a Superman T-shirt, skintight cropped pants and five-inch platform wedges - her political uniform of choice while campaigning for Republican Sarah Steelman. While mounting an aggressive campaign in Missouri with television and radio ads, and then serving barbecued pork sandwiches at a rural political picnic, the 48-year-old ditched her suits for an entirely new look. Taking to the makeshift stage in the middle of a farm field, the former Alaska governor proved her new style seems to be nowhere near as conservative as her political views. After the former vice-presidential candidate was...

CLEVELAND, Mo—Sarah Palin did not disappoint. The crowd cheered and applauded repeatedly during her speech here Friday night, from her opening remarks about “mama grizzlies” on the Missouri state flag to her promise to stop at the local Chick-fil-A for a midnight snack. It was the first time I’d ever seen Palin in person, and it was well worth the 19-mile drive from my suburban Kansas City home to The Berry Patch, a you-pick blueberry farm near Cleveland, Mo., population 665, in rural Cass County. Not because I’m a fan or even agree with her ideology, but to see what...

August 5, 2012PALIN CAMPAIGNS WITH MISSOURI SENATE CANDIDATE SARAH STEELMAN by Tony Lee When Sarah Palin campaigned in Texas the Friday before Ted Cruz’s victory last Tuesday, her appearance swung the polls by 17 points in one night. Professionals said they had never seen anyone -- a politician, celebrity, or athlete -- have that much of an impact. Cruz won his victory because the Tea Party came out to support him, and these numbers showed nobody motivates Tea Party voters like Palin does. Friday in Missouri, Palin appeared with Missouri Senate candidate Sarah Steelman at a picnic, hoping her appearance...

Tuesday is going to be a big day with two important primaries . There are two important primaries this coming Tuesday that involve two candidates that the Tea Party Express has endorsed and we are currently campaigning for.  The first is the U.S. Senate race in Missouri with conservative Sarah Steelman that we have been telling you about.  . The second race is just as important and is the Senate race in Michigan were we have endorsed conservative Clark Durant as we believe he is the best candidate to defeat Democrat Debbie Stabenow. . . Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is putting on a blitz for Missouri Republican Senate candidate Sarah Steelman after endorsing her two weeks ago. The 2008 vice presidential candidate is appearing with Steelman at a barbecue in Cleveland, Missouri near Kansas City Friday. This represents Palin's first campaign appearance with Steelman since the endorsement, CNN reports. Palin appeared in an ad and recorded a robocall for Steelman earlier this week. Palin has high praise for the former state treasurer: "Sarah is an economist who defends our tax dollars – like a mama grizzly defends her cubs," Palin said. Right back at...

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin — though derided on the left and recently dismissed by former vice president Dick Cheney as a poor pick in 2008 — is nevertheless proving her enduring power within the Republican Party in the most concrete of ways: She keeps picking winners. Each of five candidates she has endorsed this year who have faced primaries or other campaigns have won, including former Texas solicitor general Ted Cruz, who Tuesday beat the state’s well-connected lieutenant governor for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. In Palin’s biggest test yet as a kingmaker, she heads Friday to...

Sarah Palin will spend her Friday evening at a picnic in rural Missouri where she'll serve food with Sarah Steelman, aiming to give the former state treasurer a final leg up in one of the country's hottest primary races for U.S. Senate. Mrs. Steelman has spent the last few months in a fierce three-way battle for the GOP nomination with former Rep. Todd Akin and St. Louis businessman John Brunner. The winner will face Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the fall. With only a few days left before Tuesday's primary, the candidates are canvassing the state...
