We need to formally start a boycott of New York State. Any company doing business there should not be welcome to our dollars. I'm sorry for the upstate Red warriors and conservatives, but the Leftist majority of this city is ruining the republic. The real threat to democracy is law of the strong man or political party over the citizens.

It's working. The global effort to persuade the Venezuelan military to begin to revolt against their commanders - by phone calls, web postings, other means, is starting to kick in. The Venezuelan dictatorship said it put down its first revolt from a National Guard unit out in a really miserable slum of Caracas called Petare. Here's the details of what went down in Caracas from the Associated Press: CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s government said Monday it put down a mutiny by a National Guard unit in a poor neighborhood a few miles (kilometers) from Venezuela’s presidential palace. The uprising...

Jeb Bush, who has made clear he isn't running for president this cycle, raised some eyebrows on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Friday night with this comment about a potential campaign: "I don’t anticipate that. You never say never. This is a standard answer that I’ve kind of learned how to give which is — you never say never, but I never rule out being on Dancing with the Stars either … there are a lot of ways you can make a difference." He went on, with respect to whether any of the current field can win, "If you recall,...

BEIJING (AFP) - China bluntly told the world Olympics chief Thursday to keep out of politics, in a tart exchange on human rights following days of protests that have shadowed the Olympic torch around the world. International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said the Games were in "crisis" following the demonstrations, and urged China to respect its pledge to improve its rights record before the event begins in August. China fired back that Rogge should keep politics out of the Olympics, which Beijing hoped would showcase its much-touted "peaceful rise" to power -- but which have instead become a public...

SAN FRANCISCO - Director Rob Reiner said Wednesday he won't run for governor in 2006, putting to rest rumors of a potential "Meathead vs. Terminator" showdown with Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. "I've made a definite decision that it's not something I'm going to do," Reiner told The Associated Press. Reiner, whose hit films include "When Harry Met Sally" and "A Few Good Men," said concerns about his family had persuaded him to stay out of the governor's race. He also said he wants to focus his political energies on passing a ballot initiative establishing universal preschool for California children. "My...

Critics Assail Bush's Strategy of Restraint in Liberia By Mike Allen Washington Post Staff Writer Sunday, August 10, 2003; Page A21 CRAWFORD, Tex., Aug. 9 -- President Bush built lofty expectations around the world about his willingness to help stanch the bloodshed in Liberia, and now is facing widespread criticism for sending only a handful of troops, with no promise of combat forces, after five weeks of delay. Bush authorized six to 20 Marines to go ashore this week to help Liberia's West African neighbors with the logistics of humanitarian efforts. But he made no provision for reining in the...
