The Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP is calling for the removal of the Confederacy from Stone Mountain Park. Local chapter president Richard Rose says, “It is time for Georgia and other Southern states to end the glorification of slavery and white supremacy, paid for and maintained, with the taxes of all its citizens.” According to Rose, “all of this recognition of Confederate generals is upholding the white supremacy on which the Confederacy was founded and the war was fought.” He goes on to say, “all of this should have ended in 1865 when Lee surrendered to Appomattox.” He’s referring to,...

Democrat Stacey Abrams pointed to President Trump's use of the phrase "kung flu" to describe the coronavirus as an example of the bigotry in the United States she says he's counting on to help him win reelection. "Once again, he shows that racism is the core of his appeal," the failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate, who is black, said Wednesday on MSNBC.

Stacey Abrams was once a public official I liked… A LOT! But what a disappointment she’s turned out to be with both her leadership and ethics. She has more ethical challenges than any other statewide candidate. She’s become “Unethical Abrams” to me — the Kasim Reed of statewide politics. I’m tired of the voters of our state electing people to public office, only later to find out that they completely lack ethics. So with the primary election just days away, and many potential voters still undecided, here are 10 reasons why you should not vote for Stacey Abrams for Governor...

A group backing Stacey Abrams’ 2018 gubernatorial bid was fined $50,000 by the state ethics commission Thursday for failing to report what it spent to help her win the Democratic primary. Gente4Abrams (People for Abrams) spent $240,000 for canvassing, social media posts, and print and radio advertising to help Abrams win the primary but didn’t report what it spent or where it got the money to pay for those efforts, the commission said. The group later registered with the state and reported spending about $685,000 more to help the Democrat’s general election campaign against Republican Brian Kemp. The commission voted...

**SNIP** The Washington Examiner reached out to EPM for comment. About two hours after publication, the company released a statement that said Rolfe was fired because she violated company policy. "As an employer, it is imperative to maintain a safe environment for all employees. Melissa Rolfe's termination was a director result of her actions in the workplace and violation of company policy," the statement said. "While working with Melissa as she transitioned to a leave of absence granted by our organization, we discovered she violated company policy and created an uncomfortable working environment for many of our employees. As an...

Potential Democratic vice presidential nominee Stacey Abrams called on the restaurant industry Thursday to do better for its employees of all backgrounds as dining establishments begin to more fully re-open following the easing of coronavirus-related lockdowns. Notably, she pressed the issue of “right to return,” an idea that in this context would encourage or require hiring managers to give employees furloughed or laid off during COVID closures the right of refusal to reclaim their jobs before they get offered to anyone else.

Abrams told George Stephanopolous on ABC’s This Week Rashard Brooks was murdered because he was asleep in a drive-through. Stacey Abrams: “That is why you saw the reaction from protesters. That is why the virulence of anger remain. Activists are necessarily calling into question what’s actually being done. And what I would say is there is a legitimacy to this anger. There’s a legitimacy to this outrage. A man was murdered because he was asleep in a drive-through. We know this is not an isolated occurance.”

George Stephanopoulos asks Ben Carson whether it's appropriate for President Trump to give his RNC acceptance speech on August 27th in Jacksonville, given that date is the 60th anniversary of "Ax Handle Saturday" in that city, in which KKK members beat a largely black group of civil rights protesters. Carson says that we need to "grow up" and stop being offended by everything. Invited to comment, Stacey Abrams calls Ben Carson's comment "fairly infantile." View the video at the link.

On This Week today, George Stephanopoulos asked Stacey Abrams to comment on the police shooting death of Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta this past Friday night, and the "disconnect" that Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms decried regarding her expectations for the police. You might have expected Abrams to denounce the police conduct, while also condemning the lawless torching of the Wendy's restaurant where the incident occurred. But no, not a word of criticism for the wanton destruction of property. Instead, Abrams responded: "That is why you saw the reaction from protesters. That is why the virulence of anger remains. Activists are...

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams pushed back Sunday on calls to defund police departments across the country – calling it “a false choice idea” and arguing that reforming police departments is the best path forward. Abrams, whose name is frequently mentioned as being on the shortlist to be presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, said that what the United States needs is a “reformation of how police officers do their jobs” and “transformation in how we view the role of law enforcement.” “We are being drawn into a false choice idea,” she said on ABC’s “This Week”...

Former Georgia lawmaker Stacey Abrams told "The View" on Thursday that President Trump wouldn't rename military bases because he wants to hold up Confederate figures and others who engaged in what she called domestic terrorism. "The View" co-host Joy Behar had asked Abrams about the White House's decision not to rename military bases named after Confederate figures. "Why is he doing that?" Behar asked. "We know he's appealing to his base. Is there any other reason why he would be doing something like that?"

Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams says she has not heard from Joe Biden’s presidential campaign as it starts its vetting process to pick a nominee for vice president. “I have said many times that if called I will answer, but I have not received any calls,” Abrams, who rose to prominence when she narrowly lost Georgia’s gubernatorial race in 2018, said Wednesday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Abrams, also a former leader in the Georgia state House, has been frequently floated as a possible running mate for Biden, particularly as pressure ramps up for the former vice president...

Wednesday on MSNBC’s “All In,” former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, often mentioned as a possible running mate for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, predicted that Democratic voters would turn out in record numbers in November’s election. According to Abrams, that will mean a “disaster” for the Republican Party. Abrams said, “We know that it’s going to be worse. We know that people want to be heard. We are in the midst of a public health crisis, an economic collapse, a deep distrust of our justice system, and we have a voting system that Republicans are doing their...

Fair Fight created a ‘Voter Protection Hotline’ for Georgians to call if they saw suspicious behavior at the polls and have also solicited voters’ stories via submission through a Google Doc. “Voter suppression takes on multiple forms. Georgia excels in too many of them,” Ms. Abrams said in a tweet on Wednesday. “Even laws that should help the people — like absentee ballots — can be weaponized.” Earlier this week, Fair Fight told The Associated Press it was partnering with liberal groups Priorities USA and American Bridge to form a “Voter Suppression Watch” team.

New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, who spearheaded the newspaper’s controversial “1619 Project,” is also scheduled to participate.

Former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams said the government’s ability to ensure that everyone has a safe way to vote in the November election will indicate how seriously it has responded to calls for racial equality and justice in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Abrams, who is contending to be presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's running mate, is a leading voting rights activist who challenged her defeat in 2018 in the Georgia governor's race to Republican Brian Kemp. Abrams claimed after losing the close race that Kemp, then Georgia’s secretary of state, engaged in voter suppression.

Vote-by-mail would federalize a state-based electoral system, introducing something Democrats tend to use when they're desperate for a win: chaos. Leftists know that changing the rules of the game can bring victory, and have long tried to change election rules to do just that. When COVID-19 came, facing a contentious race with a populist incumbent president, Democrats turned to their vast network of money-men, many under the umbrella of the “dark money” empire known as the Arabella Network, and set about using the new crisis to their advantage. Their latest push is an expansion of vote-by-mail and its cousin, ballot...

ATLANTA, GA—Sitting at the governor's desk at the Georgia state capitol, Stacey Abrams told reporters she would step down from her governorship if asked to run for vice president. "If Biden asks me to run, I'll need to focus on that full-time," she said. "As much as I love running this great state, if the country needs me, I'll be there." A security guard patrolling the capitol building then entered the governor's office. "Come on, Stacey. Time to go. How many times do we have to have this talk?" "Classic Greg," she said, laughing. "He's a real jokester. Anyway, yes,...
