Seeking the long list of things a health policy judged "adequate" by O-Care must include. Some are sensible, some pretty silly. Was posted before, but I can't find it after diligent search.

President Obama hinted Monday evening that his re-election campaign will transition to a more positive and forward-looking message by the end of next month and into the fall. Obama told a group of high-dollar donors at a New York City fundraiser that he intends to spend "a lot of time talking about the specific agenda that I intend to pursue in the second term." Obama has faced criticism from some members of his party and key constituencies for not laying out clearly enough what his priorities will be if he's re-elected. He has also taken heat for running a predominantly...

I don’t think I’d seen this detail published before. Scripps Howard has a story on the reaction to the passage of the collective bargaining bill in Wisconsin which makes clear just how enraged the protesters became: “We will hunt you down. We will slit your throats. We will drink your blood. I will have your decapitated head on a pike in the Madison town square. This is your last warning.” Is this a passage from Bram Stoker’s Dracula? No, this e-mail reached Wisconsin State Sen. Dan Kapanke, a La Crosse Republican, on March 9, after he voted for GOP Gov....

The Interior Department’s top drilling declined to give details on when the department will begin issuing new deepwater drilling permits for the Gulf of Mexico. “I don’t want to hazard a guess as to exactly when the first deepwater permits will be issued,” Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement Director Michael Bromwich said Wednesday. He added that he hopes new deepwater permits “will be approved before too long.” Bromwich said last week that he expects to begin issuing permits before the second half of the year. Asked by reporters for a more specific date, Bromwich

I remember a particularly entertaining X Files episode titled "Je Souhaite [I Wish]," in which a genie grants people three wishes, but they all meet with a terrible end as their wishes go horribly awry - because the genie gives them what they ask for, but never - it turns out - what they actually wanted. During the episode, Agent Fox Mulder unleashes the genie, and he and the genie (Jenn) have the following discussion: Jenn: "The only thing you people are cursed with is stupidity. All of you. Everybody. Mankind. Everyone I have ever come into contact with without...

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 22 (HealthDay News) -- It sounds like science fiction, by scientists say it might one day be possible to erase undesirable memories from the brain, selectively and safely. Using a complex genetic approach, U.S. and Chinese researchers believe they have done just that in mice, but the feat is far from being tested on humans. Study co-author Joe Z. Tsien, co-director of the Brain & Behavior Discovery Institute at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, says the "work reveals a molecular mechanism of how [memory deletion] can be done quickly and without doing damage to brain cells." The...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

When Nan Tulchinsky was a freshman in high school, she was the victim of harassment by upperclassmen at her Jackson, Mich., high school. She doesn't remember what she was told to do, but she remembers that she said "no" and walked away. "It happened in 1956 and I still remember it," Tulchinsky said. So as director of athletics for the South Bend Community School Corp., she's pretty sensitive to any harassment or hazing by upperclassmen. "We don't tolerate that at all," she said. "Respect for each other is the most important thing we teach." Tulchinsky frets about "what it can...
