Ed. note: This is cross-posted from The Huffington Post. See the original post here. Ensuring the full freedom of women as health care consumers to access essential preventative health services is a vital component of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). And nowhere are health decisions more personal or essential to keep in their hands, than those regarding reproductive health. The ACA was designed to ensure that health care decisions are made between a woman and her doctor, and not by her boss, or Washington politicians.Today, there are people trying to take this right away from women, by letting private, for-profit...

In my last post I explained why it makes logical sense for men to greatly limit the amount of “courtship†they offer women in today’s post sexual revolution sexual and marriage marketplace (SMP & MMP). But this leaves the question of what this means for women, and how they should rationally respond to men’s rational choices. For women who want to meet and marry a suitable man.The key to answering the question involves understanding the woman’s primary objective. If the goal is to maximize the amount of courtship she receives, skip below to the section on courting for sex. If a...

Top Anthony Weiner aide Barbara Morgan apologized yesterday after calling a former campaign intern a “bitch” and “slutbag.” She thought the interview was off the record. Politicker reported: Anthony Weiner’s spokeswoman, Barbara Morgan, issued an apology tonight after a profanity-laced interview with Talking Points Memo, in which she described a former campaign intern as a fame hungry “bitch” and “slutbag” who “sucked” at her job. Ms. Morgan said that she believed the conversation, in which she also threatened to sue the young woman, was off the record.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, May 11, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – This Sunday, children of all ages will celebrate the role mothers play in their lives. But Vogue model Christy Turlington Burns and a host of female celebrities are encouraging mothers across the nation to ignore their children as part of “No Mother’s Day,” a sign of their support for reducing maternal mortality by supporting family planning and global access to abortion. The campaign asks women to “disappear” on Mother’s Day to raise awareness of maternal mortality rates and underscore “just how much a mother is missed when she’s gone.” But amidst positive...

What would I do if I were in charge? I’d abolish General Order No. 1. Keep the rules that protect soldiers from sexual harassment. But allow deployed officers and troops to have sex while at war. West Point should come to its senses as well. West Pointers and other military service members endure tremendous sacrifices. We appreciate the adoration and respect we receive. In that same spirit, I ask the public to accept and forgive our weaknesses. It’s okay to be disappointed, but please don’t be misled. Beneath the heavy combat gear and impressive uniform, we’re human, just like you....

November 7, 2012, (STOPP.org) – “There’s tons of ways that people define ‘slut.’ Most, though, are f’d up.” That’s the lead in for an MTV video targeting teens and tweens on Planned Parenthood’s Info for Teens Facebook page. This denigrating instructional video takes place in a classroom setting and encourages young girls to become promiscuous and emphasizes that others should respect them because, as sluts, they are “confident in their sexuality.” Francisco, the young, attractive “Savage U” sex instructor, stands in front of a chalkboard showing one large stick figure and many small ones. He says, “Let’s say this guy...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - You only have to step outside the Democratic National Convention center in downtown Charlotte where vendors and special interest groups are hawking their goods to realize that the Democrats have become the party of hard-edged social issues, not the GOP. While the Republicans have largely tried to follow former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels' suggestion that they stick to economic issues, the Democrats have gone hog wild on social issues like abortion, contraception and same sex marriage. Consider the dozens of pink-shirted Planned Parent representatives. As the crowds stroll by, they yell out "Get your 'Protect yourself from...

Folks, come and look at this. It's a site which says -- I am not kidding! -- IF OUR REPRODUCTIVE CHOICES ARE DENIED SO ARE YOURS APRIL 28 – MAY 5, 2012 Now this is hilarious: it evinces the kind of stupidity and fatuous narcissism which it normally takes an Ivy League degree to acquire. How is this FAIL? Let me count the ways: 1) I guess nobody bothered to explain to you about the Birds and the Bees and the DDT, ladies, but by engaging in abstinence, you are achieving precisely the same ends as contraception. For that matter,...

The Democrats thought they had a great distraction from the economic issues that bedevil most Americans in the form of 30-year-old activist Sandra Fluke. Rush Limbaugh foolishly (as he later acknowledged) called her a “slut” and a “prostitute” in the course of ridiculing, entirely properly, her very silly claim that the federal government should force all employers to pay for their female employees’ contraception–I never did figure out whether the plan extended to buying male employees condoms and vasectomies–regardless of whether either the employers or employees prefer such benefits to cash compensation. Ms. Fluke’s theory, really, was so stupid as...

WASHINGTON — President Obama, speaking publicly for the first time about Rush Limbaugh’s slur of a law student on his radio show last week, said on Tuesday that he had called the woman, Sandra Fluke, in part to set an example for his daughters. “I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on,” Mr. Obama said at a televised news conference at the White House. “I want them to be able to...

SlutWalk marched through D.C. on Saturday as one of many recent marches organized by women to raise awareness and reduce the blame put by society on victims of sexual abuse. Women and men gathered at Lafayette Square and processed down 15th Street to the Washington Monument. Some marchers woreonly in a bra, several painted “Slut” across their chests, others carried signs declaring “My Dress is Not a Yes” and “Even Sluts Have a Right to Say ‘No’.”

I did a lot of waffling about whether to comment on Sunday’s SlutWalk march (April 3, 1:30 pm, at Queen’s Park), but not because I have any doubts about the worthiness of the cause. The provocatively named rally, initially organized after a Toronto police officer told a York University campus safety seminar that women could avoid sexual assault by not dressing like sluts, has since gathered steam in reaction to a steady stream of victim-blaming and slut-shaming by judges, other police officers and various media outlets. SlutWalk aims to reclaim the term and rob it of its pejorative connotations, but...

There was a time when having sex with a woman meant a wedding ring, a court ship or at the very least, dinner. But social psychologists say those days are quickly coming to an end as women become more promiscuous, Yahoo Shine reports. -snip- Other things that are said to have contributed to these changes include gender equality, birth control and internet porn.

It was an intriguing emailed invitation: Mom, do you want to go with me to SlutWalk? Hmm. Well, over the years I have accompanied my daughter to playgrounds, petting zoos, hiking trails and nail salons. But for someone who spent years trying to keep two daughters in the equivalents of pinafores, SlutWalk sounded like a questionable mother/daughter outing. However, my older daughter, 22, had sent a link to the explanation. The SlutWalk, held Saturday in the Loop, was a response to a Toronto police constable's remark that women would be safer from sexual attack if they avoided dressing like sluts.

A Toronto cop who warned women that dressing like sluts can attract sexual assault was reprimanded and underwent “further training,” Chief Bill Blair said Sunday. Blair called Const. Michael Sanguinetti “inexperienced,” adding the officer uttered “something stupid and he’s apologized.” The constable’s comment sparked outrage, prompting more than 1,500 protesters to stage a “SlutWalk” Sunday from Queen’s Park to police headquarters on College St.

A police officer who said women could avoid sexual assault by not dressing like “sluts” in an address to law students college has apologised. Constable Michael Sanguinetti made the stunning remark during a meeting about safety at Toronto's York University. While a more senior officer was talking, Mr. Sanguinetti interrupted and reportedly said: 'You know, I think we’re beating around the bush here. I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this, however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.

Sluthood wasn't always considered a virtue. Most normal, rational people look at sleeping around as something sad and wrong. It's not healthy, physically or mentally, it can be damaging to a young girl's reputation, and it can also be incredibly dangerous. Women that sleep around oftentimes end up feeling used and regret their choices when they get older and decide to settle down. Other women end up contracting STDs, which may or may not be treatable. For these reasons and more, being a slut is understandably looked down upon -- it can be genuinely harmful. Today's pseudo-feminists, however, have...

The results presented in this article replicate findings from previous research: Women who cohabit prior to marriage or who have premarital sex have an increased likelihood of marital disruption. Considering the joint effects of premarital cohabitation and premarital sex, as well as histories of premarital relationships, extends previous research. The most salient finding from this analysis is that women whose intimate premarital relationships are limited to their husbands—either premarital sex alone or premarital cohabitation—do not experience an increased risk of divorce. It is only women who have more than one intimate premarital relationship who have an elevated risk of marital...
