(CNSNews.com) – Author and retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson said at a National Press Club luncheon that the reason for the “sluggish growth” of the U.S. economy is because of bad policy. “And why do we have such sluggish growth?” Carson said on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. “Because we have asinine economic policies.” Carson, who gained a following after remarks he made about the “moral decline” of the nation in a speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, told an appreciative audience that they should think about that fact concerning the economy.

The nation is technically out of the recession. But while many corporations are actually making more money, it comes at the cost of jobs and hardships on many Americans. The economy is growing, but at a sluggish 3 percent, according to Martin A. Regalia, senior vice president for economic and tax policy and the chief economist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "We are in an economic malaise," said Regalia, who was a recent guest speaker for the Southern Frederick County Rotary Club in Urbana. There are about 90,000 jobs created each month, and while that may sound like a...

NEW YORK – Stocks and interest rates are falling sharply as investors grow more pessimistic about the economic recovery. Reports on jobless claims and durable goods orders Thursday are contributing to investors' darker view of the economy. The reports follow the Federal Reserve's more cautious take on the recovery on Wednesday. Interest rates are dropping in the Treasury market as investors opt for the smaller but safer returns that bonds offer. The yield on the 10-year note fell to 3.09 percent from 3.12 percent.

Thousands of French students have taken to the streets to... protest for cushy jobs? Au moment même où vous avez pensé ce ne pourrait pas devenir plus mauvais. Well, it has. Much worse. France's economy is sluggish, sporting a whopping 10% unemployment rate, precisely because of the stiff and rigid sentiments of the student protestors. There's nothing Bohemian ("libéral") about them; precisely the opposite. Dynamic economies flourish. State-controlled economies decline. From the BBC: To the barricades, they went, these revolutionaries, to fight for their rights - to pensions, mortgages and a steady job. Such odd revolutionaries. No heartfelt cry to...

Putin: Ally or Terrorist? by William F. Jasper Counting Vladimir Putin as an ally against terrorism ignores his career in the murderous KGB/FSB and his ongoing support for terrorist regimes and organizations. ‘‘Lena Goncharuk, aged 38, said that she was the only one to survive out of a group of six who were ordered out of the cellar where they had been hiding and shot at point blank range. Resting in her hospital bed, her voice barely rising above a whisper, she said she had survived only by pretending to be dead." So reported Paul Wood from the Chechen border...
