Over in one corner sat Alice, a strong-minded 27-year-old who always said what she thought, regardless of how much it might hurt someone else. In the other corner was Sarah, a thirtysomething high-flier who would stand up for herself momentarily - then burst into tears and run for the ladies. Their simmering fight lasted hours, egged on by spectators taking sides and fuelling the anger. Sometimes other girls would join in, either heckling aggressively or huddling defensively in the toilets. It might sound like a scene from a tawdry reality show such as Big Brother, but the truth is a...

I am trying to purchase new original Sacred Sisterhood Of Wonderful Wacky Women Mugs and they seem to have gone off the radar - just since Christmas. The inscription on the inside reads, "Forever Friends Kindred Spirits." Everything seems to be out-of-stock on-line, with caveats that they may no longer be available. So, I a wondering if anyone on FR knows of a Mom-And-Pop specialty shop that carries them. Any help is appreciated.

Floods of tears; ecstatic, frankly romantic visions of Jesus; low points and high drama — you’re either reading St. Therese’s autobiography “The Story of a Soul†or you’re watching “The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns.â€Of course, one of these is a classic work of spirituality by a Doctor of the Church, and the other is a Lifetime reality show (premiering Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT), but they’re both the stories of emotional, expressive young women dealing with the notion of becoming a Bride of Christ.Granted, Therese would never have done anything like “twerking,†as does one of the five young...

SAN DIEGO, July 23, 2009 – Two California teenagers are honoring National Guard parents who have had travel to overseas locations or natural disasters at home in a project they have named “Sisterhood of the Traveling BDUs.” BDUs is military shorthand for the battle-dress uniform. The goal of the project -- inspired by the 2005 movie “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” in which four girlfriends develop a plan to stay connected -- is to bring military daughters from across California together to share their experiences as military family members. Moranda Hern, 17, daughter of Air Force Lt. Col. Rick...

Tragedy struck the first filly in the Kentucky Derby since 1999, as Eight Belles went down on the track after her second-place finish today, broke two ankles, and was euthanized. Showing a sisterhood with the female horse, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., during a trip to Louisville this week had said she was going to bet on Eight Belles to win, place, and show. ABC News' Karen Travers reports that Clinton told supporters in Jeffersonville, Ind., earlier this week, "I hope that everybody will go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me....

The Power of the Sisterhood The case of Priscilla Owen. By Rochelle Tedesco January 22, 2003, marked the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade. In Washington, women's organizations took the occasion to argue that a woman's "right to choose" is an important right that must be protected. Ironically, at the same time that these groups were organizing rallies and gatherings to protect a woman's "right to choose," these very same groups were actively opposing the judicial nomination of a woman who has exercised her right to choose not to fall in line with the political...

The Washington TimesThe sisterhood, 27 years laterJanuary 24, 2000 Barbara Curtis Twenty-seven years ago, nine black-robed men handed feminists a triumph that would try our souls, and - I have come to believe - find them wanting. On Jan. 22, 1973, when the "Sisterhood is Powerful" crowd rejoiced at the outcome of Roe vs. Wade, I was with them - a Washington radical feminist scholar/abortion rights advocate, much in demand as a spokeswoman by virtue of my motherhood. After all, who better to illustrate the righteous need for abortion than a young woman with a future, already encumbered by a...
