The Spanish-language station Univision has announced it will no longer air ads telling Latinos to stay home on Election Day. "Don't vote this November," the English version of the ads says, while playing images of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other Democrats. "This is the only way to send them a clear message: 'You can no longer take us for granted.' Don't vote." A group called Latinos for Reform, led by Robert de Posada, a former Republican National Committee official, is behind the ads. I should preface this by saying all Republican candidates with name recognition beat Reid. There are others in the race. The only big name candidate to officially announce is Danny Tarkanian. The Sue Lowden thing is still up in the air, and seems to be more of a push by insiders to get their person in the race. I’m not sure why the Republican establishment seems to be challenging Danny Tarkanian. Especially since he has polled higher than Reid and Lowden in all of the polls, and has really hit the ground running.

Earlier this year, Republican powerbroker Sig Rogich endorsed Sen. Harry Reid's re-election effort. And today Reid has unexpectedly announced that he no longer wants a government-funded maglev train between LA and Las Vegas, which he had publicly supported for years ─ and he now favors a new train between Victorville and Las Vegas, in which Rogich and his business partners have already invested millions.
