A group called the Tombstone Shovel Brigade is planning an event in the Huachuca Mountains in June in an effort to make additional repairs to the cityÂ’s water supply. The City of TombstoneÂ’s waterlines and reservoirs in the Coronado National Forest were damaged by mudslides after last yearÂ’s Monument Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service refused to let the city use heavy machinery in some areas, citing the Wilderness Act. Tombstone filed a lawsuit to prevent the Forest Service from interfering with its ability to adequately access the water, but a federal judge recently ruled against the city. According to...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 24, 2003 FROM: DEMAR DAHL (775)741-4168 PRESIDENT OF THE SHOVEL BRIGADE An advertisement was placed in the Elko Daily Free Press and on Elko radio stations last week in the name of the Shovel Brigade. The ad, which referred to some Forest Service employees as "armed and dangerous", was not taken to the Brigade Board for approval. On first review by the Board, it was felt that the ad may have gone a little over the line with reference to being "armed and dangerous". However, after considering all of the facts available to it, the Board...

RENO, Nev. - Call them the ``Outhouse Brigade.'' A group of northeast Nevadans feuding with the U.S. Forest Service over control of a remote national forest road near a trout stream is vowing to defy the agency and drive up the road to clean out a public outhouse. The Forest Service, concerned about the effects on the threatened bull trout, has forbidden vehicles from using South Canyon Road since the Jarbidge River flooded and washed out most of it in 1995. A coalition of anti-federal activists and a local citizens group in Elko County dubbed the ``Shovel Brigade'' began trying...

I was there today in Saginaw, Texas to meet the Klamath Falls convoy to the Sawgrass Rebellion. Rocky (Issaquahking), Bill Ramson and others whom I had come to know last year in Klamath Falls, Oregon were there with the convoy. There was a great parade. I rode with the bucket (from Klamath Bucket Brigade) for a while and the shovel (from Jarbidge Shovel Brigade) for a while, but mostly walked along side engaging the people watching the parade and asking them to come to the fair to hear the speeches or look up the events on the internet (Klamath Falls...
