The Secret Sandy Risked His All For © Jack Cashill January 18, 2007 - WorldNetDaily.com If not the most skillful of embezzlers, Samuel “Sandy” Berger is a far more formidable character than the media would have us believe. When he made his now storied sorties into the National Archives, he risked his career and his reputation in so doing, and he knew it. Rest assured, he would not have done so were the secrets to be preserved not worth the risk of pilfering them. True to form, the major media refuse to even ask the most fundamental question: just what...

A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger. Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.

When I interviewed Sandy Berger, the former White House national security advisor, we talked about what he says our priorities should be, what’s wrong with current policy, what's missing from our current national security defenses, and the three fundamentals of true security. • SANDY BERGER TO BE SENTENCED JULY 8 (did you put your two cents in yet?)

Granted, it really annoys the liberal elite when the "little people" speak up, but we must let it be known that we value our national security, even if Sandy Berger doesn't. Face it, if this were a Conservative, liberals would be tearing their hair out, blue-staters would be marching en masse, the MSM would be following the story 24/7, the NYT and LATimes would be rife with damning op-eds. If Dr. Condoleezza Rice had been caught stuffing documents down her pantyhose, the story would be a feeding frenzy. Everybody knows liberals are above the law because they are (sob) “tolerant...

[snip] First, Berger "knowingly" stuffed handwritten notes he'd made from the documents down his socks without submitting them for a required review. Then he took original classified documents out of the archives entirely. When officials demanded their return, he said some of them had been destroyed. Everything, he says, was "inadvertent," or the result of "sloppiness." Among the missing documents are multiple drafts of an after-action memo by Richard Clarke reviewing al Qaeda attempts to attack America during the millennium celebration. The memo reportedly identified weaknesses so "glaring" that only "luck" prevented an attack on Clinton's watch. Instead of being...
  • Sandy Burglar? (Liberal media outlets dutifully ignore document snatcher Berger's criminal probe)

Sandy Burglar? Thursday January 13, 7:00 pm ET Ibd Scandal: Anyone remember Sandy Berger? To the media, the former national security adviser who might have lifted sensitive documents is a forgotten man. Not entirely forgotten, though. A couple of media outlets -- the New York Post and Fox News -- say the criminal probe of the Berger case is in front of a federal grand jury. But then, no one would ever mistake the Post or Fox with being part of the establishment media. As Washington scandals go, the Berger case had a short shelf life. It was in the...

anuary 11, 2005 -- EXCLUSIVE WASHINGTON — The criminal probe into why former Bill Clinton aide Sandy Berger illegally sneaked top-secret documents out of the National Archives — possibly in his socks — has heated up and is now before a federal grand jury, The Post has learned. The "Socks Docs" probe forced Berger, who was President Clinton's national security adviser, to step down as Democrat John Kerry's top foreign-policy adviser last summer. "It may have been off the front pages, but the investigation has been active," said a source with knowledge of the probe. "[Berger] has been interviewed several...
