Protests against the arrest of a pro-Palestine Columbia graduate student are being organized by a Marxist revolutionary group that is pro-Communism, anti-Israel, and has potential links to the Chinese Communist Party. Mahmoud Khalil, a leader in the pro-Palestine and anti-Israel encampments at Columbia University, was detained earlier this month by the Trump administration, with the Department of Homeland Security arguing that he “led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.” The People’s Forum helped organize some of the campus chaos and is now organizing protests to free Khalil. Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) is the pro-Palestine and anti-Israel group...

Less than two months after he was given prominent op-ed space in the Washington Post, a video has surfaced of Houthi rebel leader Mohammad Ali al-Houthi launching a shoulder-fired missile and then reciting the Houthi slogan, which calls for “Death to America.” The Washington Post contributor chants, “Allah is the greatest. Death to America. Death to Israel. Curse the Jews. Victory to Islam.” He has also taken to his unverified but media– and think tank-cited Twitter account to repeat the infamous Houthi slogan. Ali Shihabi, the founder of the Arabia Foundation, a Washington D.C.-based Middle East think tank, confirmed to...

Washington Post‘s Karen Attiah sounded the alarms of sorts this afternoon when she Tweeted out the following cryptic message after a meeting with Donald Trump and the WaPo Editorial Board: As you can see from the user engagement on the Tweet, people were quick to follow up on Attiah’s commentary, asking for any clarification on this newly-emerging behavior from the Republican frontrunner. Then Monday night, Attiah — who serves as the Deputy Opinions Editor for the Post — released her story with the headline “I asked Trump a policy question. Then he called me ‘beautiful.’” Attiah mentioned, and transcribed, some...

In the adjacent post Cliff May refers in passing to Washington Post global affairs columnist Karen Attiah’s sympathy for Hamas and hostility to Israel. Megyn Kelly commented on Attiah’s sympathies on X/Twitter and the New York Post set forth the background necessary to understand what it’s all about:Megyn Kelly slammed a Washington Post columnist as a “rabid antisemite” after the opinion writer liked a tweet that shrugged off Hamas’ horrifying displays of violence in its bid to replace Israel with an Islamic state. The SiriusXM host on Tuesday tweeted a screenshot showing Karen Attiah — who pens a weekly newsletter for...

Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah is stepping down as co-chair of the upcoming National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention in Chicago, she announced in a Tuesday tweet. The NABJ24 convention will host Trump for a moderated Q&A session hosted by Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, ABC News’ Rachel Scott and Semafor’s Kadia Goba, according to a report. “To the journalists interviewing Trump, I wish them the best of luck,” she wrote on Twitter. “For everyone else, I’m looking forward to meeting and reconnecting with all of you in the Windy City.” She also noted that she was not involved in...

Washington Post global opinions editor Karen Attiah called America “a racist *and* patriarchal society” in response to the threats she says she got over a deleted tweet that reportedly declared, “White women are lucky that we are just calling them ‘Karen’s.' And not calling for revenge.” In a tweet over backlash she wrote: “America is a racist *and* patriarchal society. We cannot dismantle the full range of oppression in this society without addressing how toxic ideas of white masculinity interplay with the notion of ‘protecting’ their women from Black people.

[snip] To begin CNN This Morning's discussion of the anti-ICE riots, host Audie Cornish called on Karen Attiah, the creator and leader of the Resistance Summer School. As per its website, the school is: A "structure for radical learning . . . Students will explore how colonial legacies and racial hierarchies shape global politics, diplomacy, conflict, and coverage —and how media systems often reinforce (or resist) these power structures." Take a look below at the school's insignia featuring a clenched fist, a traditional socialist symbol. And it adopts as its motto, "A Luta Continua" [The Struggle Continues.] That was the...

Maharashtra’s former inspector general of police SM Mushrif on Tuesday accused the Intelligence Bureau (IB) of being hand-in-glove with right-wing extremists, and called for a ban on the RSS describing it as India’s No.1 terror organisation. At the launch of the Bengali version of his book “RSS - Country’s Greatest Terror Organisation”, Mushrif also termed the ongoing JNU controversy as a manifestation of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) attempt to turn India into a Hindu nation. “The IB has been and continues to be the most powerful organisation in the country and irrespective of which political party is in power...

Last month, we are told, the world enjoyed “its hottest March since records began in 1880”. This year, according to “US government scientists”, already bids to outrank 2014 as “the hottest ever”. The figures from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were based, like all the other three official surface temperature records on which the world’s scientists and politicians rely, on data compiled from a network of weather stations by NOAA’s Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN). But here there is a puzzle. These temperature records are not the only ones with official status. The other two, Remote Sensing...

Data from Remote Sensing System (Satellite). In the above graphic, the zero line from February 2000 has been offset to make it visible. It actually falls right on top of the zero trend line from December 1996. The title may seem odd since RSS shows no trend for 18 years and 3 months now. The title was triggered by an exchange several years ago in which we were challenged to show there was no warming for 15 years. I promptly showed that to be the case with RSS, but was accused of cherry picking since I went on the other...

When Google first announced it would be shutting down Google Reader, I was very disappointed. I had come to rely on Google Reader to keep up with my favorite blogs. I went about trying to find a replacement RSS reader and had settled on The Old Reader. I really didn't like it as well as Google Reader, but it worked. Then, I came across NewsBlur. I couldn't use it at first because the free account signup had been disabled. This was mainly due to the sudden onslaught of former users of Google Reader. When the growing pains were finally worked...

since free republic updates new headlines every so often, i'm trying to find where my live rss feeds can list more than 24 items per subscription, is there a way to extend the max amount of just 24 items only? i am using the latest version of Firefox and it doesn't give me the option to lengthen the max amount of items per subscription. i was told it might also be a restriction as well, but if any of you tech savvy peeps could let me know, since i use the feed sidebar and read down the list of every...

Probably a bad day and time to ask but does anyone know of an app that would put the latest Free Republic posts on a Chumby? Don't know what a Chumby is? Lookie here! I have a Chumby One, you have to scroll down a bit to see it. It's smaller than the Chumby8 but I LOVE it! Think of it as an alarm clock on steroids. Mine does get lots of stuff including news from several sources, several types of internet and terrestrial radio, webcams and more. I'd really like to get FR on it, maybe an RSS feed?...

Electric cars manufactured by Nissan surreptitiously leak detailed information about a driver's location, speed and destination to websites accessed through the vehicle's built in RSS reader, a security blogger has found. The Nissan Leaf is a 100-percent electric car that Nissan introduced seven months ago. Among its many innovations is a GSM cellular connection that lets drivers share a variety of real-time data about the car, including its location, driving history, power consumption, and battery reserves. Carwings, as the service is known, then provides a number of services designed to support “eco-driving,” such as break downs of the vehicle's energy...

Does anyone have any good RSS feeds for gun sites/news? I went through the "Top 1000" RSS (not sure how the site arrived at that) and was surprised not to see even a single gun RSS feed. I mean, in a nation with what, 200,000,000 guns and about 50 million gun owners, why aren't there feeds around every turn? Frustrating, to say the least. The NRA has an RSS feed but the GOA does not.

If you stare at the lines in the road, you’ll never see where you’re going. While the Devil might be in the details, if you want to know where he’ll be you need to look for the pattern. Pattern-recognition is one of the trickiest pieces of programming, partially because we know very little about how our brains work, and partially because humans make it look so damned easy. Our brains are designed to spot and record patterns. Sure, it takes a long time. Evenutally, enough memories gel to enable us to look back and assign confidence of some correlation (if...

The dastardly Mumbai terror attack of November 26 & 27, has claimed the lives of over 125 people and injured scores more. This terror attack in our analysis has been planned & orchestrated by the Sangh Pariwar and its allies within the security apparatus to counter the investigation of the ATS led by Hemant Karkare, so as to nullify and divert attention from the true face of BJP-RSS Parivar's involvement in fermenting terror attacks in the country. The basic aim was to totally subvert every attempt by the ATS (Anti-Terror Squad) that was undoubtedly uncovering the nefarious terrorist cells within...

At least 40 people have been injured in religious clashes on a remote delta island in India's eastern state of West Bengal, police say. Fifteen of those injured in the clashes on Sagar island, at the confluence of the Ganges and the sea, were policemen. Supporters of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) and local Muslim villagers clashed after the RSS set up a camp in the area. This caused unease amongst Muslims, who have a large population on the island. The RSS is active throughout India and is the ideological fountainhead of India's main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party...
