Since 9/11 a lot of people have promoted themselves as “terrorism experts.” Most are not. Many of these new “terrorism experts” hail from the halls of American academia–places that frankly provide very little in the way of background for the study of terrorism. It’s as if the same bunch who got it wrong during most of the Cold War saw an opportunity in the field of terrorism and became instant experts overnight. There are a lot of problems with this phenomenon of overnight terrorism experts, not the least of which is the fact that oil-rich Gulf states such as Qatar,...

A University of Chicago professor and a Muslim organization linked to the terror organization Hamas are teaming up to proclaim that American occupation of foreign lands is the reason for terrorism. Word of the cooperation between the Council on America- Islamic Relations and University of Chicago political science professor Robert Pape over his new book, called "Cutting the Fuse: The Explosion of Global Suicide Terrorism and How to Stop It," comes from CAIR. The organization announced in a news release that the book is a "powerful education tool" to challenge "Islamophobia" and that Pape will speak at CAIR's 16th annual...
  • What We’ve Learned About Suicide Terrorism Since 9/11

Robert A. Pape is professor of political science at the University of Chicago and the author of the forthcoming Cato Institute paper "Suicide Terrorism and Democracy: What We've Learned since 9/11." The attacks of September 11th, 2001 brought us face to face with the horror of suicide terrorism. In the years since, pundits have painted al Qaeda as a fearless enemy motivated by insatiable religious hatred. Amid prognostications of doom, we lost sight of the truth: that suicide terrorism is a tactic, not an enemy, and that beneath the religious rhetoric with which it is perpetrated, it occurs largely in...
  • CSPAN "Dying to Win: Strategic logic of Suicide Terrorism"

There is an idiot professor Robert Pape saying the reason there are suicide bombers is to boot American troops out of the arabian peninsula. His logic is based on numbers of bombing attacks that have increased since we entered Iraq. Of course he adds that we shouldn't blame ourselves for this - apparently to obfuscate those that would attack his so-called logic. His so-called logic doesn't explain how we were attacked in 1993, 1995 etc. Anyone else watching this farce?
  • Ending Suicide Terrorism (Ron Paul speech to Congress)

http://peacejournalism.com/ReadArticle.asp?ArticleID=4066 Ending Suicide Terrorism by Rep. Ron Paul More than half of the American people now believe that the Iraqi war has made the U.S. less safe. This is a dramatic shift in sentiment from two years ago. Early support for the war reflected a hope for a safer America, and it was thought to be an appropriate response to the 9/11 attacks. The argument was that the enemy attacked us because of our freedom, our prosperity, and our way of life. It was further argued that it was important to engage the potential terrorists over there rather than here....
