SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY, May 18th[snip]JOE SCARBOROUGH: Michael Moore is the toast of the town at the Cannes Film Festival this week. According to the BBC, Moore‘s anti-war flick may be the odds-on favorite to win the top prize, the first time for a so-called documentary since 1956. It seems the French have fallen in love with Michael Moore. But how will American audiences react to this controversial film? With me now is John Rhys-Davies. He‘s, of course, an actor from the blockbuster trilogy “The Lord of the Rings.” We also have Dana Kennedy. She‘s MSNBC entertainment editor. And back with me...

It's a common perception that Hollywood is a liberal town, and rightly so. There are a few bold souls, however, who are willing to swim against the tide. One of these starred in the film that won the most Oscars last Sunday night. He's John Rhys-Davies, who played Gimli in The Lord of the Rings (as well as Sallah in the Indiana Jones movies, in addition to many other roles). His comments over the past month or so regarding world affairs have ignited a firestorm of controversy in his home country of Great Britain. Rather than taking up the banner...

LOS ANGELES — Another Academy Awards ceremony has come and gone. If you're like me, you spent much of it on the edge of your seat, silently praying that none of the winning actors would launch into a noxious left-wing tirade, featuring such sagacious bromides as "War is Not the Answer" (to what?). It's a common perception that Hollywood is a liberal town, and rightly so. There are a few bold souls, however, who are willing to swim against the tide. One of these starred in the film that won the most Oscars last Sunday night. He's John Rhys-Davies, who...

I would like to explain to friends and posters in Wales why we went to war in Iraq. There was a wonderful article last spring that explained how going to war with Iraq would start to set an example for the entire area. I haven't been able to find the article again, it put into words excellent reasons in a way I can't. The people involved in this forum are great people, however they have the BBC as their main news source and they also don't have a high regard for the English, especially Tony Blair. Could someone help me...

Rings star sparks rumpus over race David Smith, arts and media correspondent Sunday February 1, 2004 The Observer The stars of The Lord of the Rings films have been feted on red carpets around the world and are now tipped for Oscars glory. One of their number, however, finds himself a hero to a less desirable audience: the far-right British National Party. John Rhys-Davies, who plays warrior dwarf Gimli in the blockbuster trilogy, has been spearheading a BNP campaign without his knowledge following an interview in which he claimed Western civilisation was under threat because white Europeans produce fewer babies...

Muslim advocacy groups in the West are making skillful use of the race card against anyone who points out uncomfortable truths. One of the most recent targets of this is John Rhys-Davies, the Welsh actor who plays Gimli the dwarf in the Lord of the Rings movies. IcWales, which identifies itself as “the national website of Wales,” reported that Rhys-Davies had “kicked off a race storm” last Saturday by “making anti-Muslim remarks.” What did he say? He pointed out that “by 2020, 50 per cent of the children in Holland under the age of 18 will be of Muslim descent.”...

ONE of the biggest Welsh movie stars in Hollywood kicked off a race storm last night after making anti-Muslim remarks. Outraged Islamic leaders in Wales demanded an immediate apology from Lord Of The Rings actor John Rhys-Davies, who claimed an increase in Europe's Muslim population was a "demographic catastrophe" threatening "Western civilisation". The 59-year-old Ammanford actor's comments were originally made in an interview with American journalists from World magazine, but this week they were used by the far right British National Party in a leaflet to campaign for support among cinema-goers. Last night Rhys-Davies stood by his views which follow...
