Tim Keller, founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, made a sobering announcement on his Facebook page this morning. Keller, age 69, recently found out that he has pancreatic cancer.“I feel great and have no symptoms,” Keller wrote. “It was what doctors call an ‘incidental pickup,’ otherwise known as providential intervention.” Tim Keller: Cancer Diagnosis Came Unexpectedly Keller told followers he is headed to the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, for additional testing today. He will begin chemotherapy next week in New York City, where he currently resides with his wife, Kathy. The author and...

Job 19:25, "For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth." Job understood as we can that we have a living Redeemer, Who Is Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, and that He will one day reign over all His Creation as He first intended. To "redeem" means to buy back something that has fallen to an enemy. As recorded in Genesis, all Creation was in the hands of God, but when His most beloved of all His creation--mankind, Adam and Eve--chose to rebel against their Creator God's express Word...
  • The Knowledge of Him Shall Justify the Many...servant songs pt 14

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto...

JN 18:1—19:42 Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron valley to where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered. Judas his betrayer also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So Judas got a band of soldiers and guards from the chief priests and the Pharisees and went there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to him, went out and said to them, “Whom are you looking for?” They answered him, “Jesus the Nazorean.” He said to them, “I AM.” Judas his...
  • Hillary's "irredeemable" slur is un-Christian (vanity)

One quick observation: by labelling a large segment of Americans as "irredeemable," Hillary is denying the redeeming power of God through Jesus Christ. I am not a Christian scholar, but I think that one Christian tenet is that everyone, however vile, is redeemable through Salvation (which is loosely synonymous with redemption). (Please, someone correct me if I am wrong.) Beside the chilling tone of her remark, it strikes me as symptomatic of a Godless worldview. After all, one name for Jesus is "Christ the Redeemer." Hillary seems oblivious to all of this.
  • The Lion Who Is A Lamb...Revelation 4-7 pt 10

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon...

‘Cheer up, you’re worse than you think,” Rev. Timothy Keller says with a smile. He’s explaining that humans are more weak, more fallen, more warped than they “ever dare admit or even believe.” Then comes the good news: At the same time people are “more loved in Christ and more accepted than they could ever imagine or hope.” Do you know many New Yorkers who believe that? Perhaps not, but on Sundays some 5,500 city folk file into the church Mr. Keller founded 25 years ago, Redeemer Presbyterian, at eight packed services across three Manhattan locations, the Greenwich Village campus...

My sustainment of the inevitable is just that, your soul in My hands as you surrender ALL to me for you see it is as a servant I came to you all and now it is in this same manner I call to you to submit yourselves completely to My spirit of Truth for many see themselves submitted to Me by what they do but in fact this is the furthest thing from the truth for in their hearts they are operating in self satisfaction and glory in themselves yet strike The Rock of their salvation by denying My will...

You are not sure of your "self" at times but this is why I come and speak to your heart for you to surrender your "self" completely that I may "arise" in you in fullness and truth for "I AM" and this is what you must desire to become " ME IN YOU " For I created you for My glory and my will is all you need to complete each day! So stop competing with your "self" for I AM your will "alive" in you even now and unto forever. I AM all that matters! So lay your life...

But Barack Obama is not an "other" so much as he is a child of the 1960s. His coming of age paralleled exactly the unfolding of a new "counterculture" American identity. And this new American identity—and the post-1960s liberalism it spawned—is grounded in a remarkable irony: bad faith in America as virtue itself, bad faith in the classic American identity of constitutional freedom and capitalism as the way to a better America. So Mr. Obama is very definitely an American, and he has a broad American constituency. He is simply the first president we have seen grounded in this counterculture...

aturday, February 09, 2008 "He is like a key. He's going to unlock a door . . ." Jody Klein of Centralia, Wash., about two hours-drive south of Seattle, was near tears as she recounted her Obama experience. At age 20, she'll vote in a presidential election for the first time. "There's just this amazing excitement that's here," she said. "When he was talking about hope, it actually almost made me cry. Like it really made sense, like, for the first, like, whoa … how important a time this is for us. It was really exciting."

Testimony, not Biographyhttp://scoutoath.tripod.com/id17.html By Hans Zeiger I once went to a car race where most of the cars were marked with the names and logos of their sponsors and drivers. Only one car stood out. This one was a sprint car, and it carried a simple message on the side: “Jesus is Lord.” As I watched the racers zoom around the track, I reflected on the difference between that car and all the rest. The race is now but a flash of memory – the dust settled, the fans went home, perhaps the prize money was spent – but that...

The Hero A hero considers of the needs of others above his own. He will go without so that he may give more to someone else. He will endanger his own life to save another. He will endure great suffering to spare another from it. His example is one that inspires others to be better than they were. He lives a life worthy of emulation; walks a path worth following. He rejoices in the safety, happiness and liberty of others. He is the protector, the defender, the rescuer. He rescues those who are stranded or lost, even when they got...
