In most states with legal abortion, pregnant people can abort for any reason they choose. In some states, this extends all the way through pregnancy, including in the ninth month. (Elective abortions that late may be very rare, but they are legally allowed.) I think that most people who abort genuinely struggle with the decision, and many are facing hard circumstances.
