There I was, across the street, a six lane street. Just me. And my little camera. I stood quietly on the empty sidewalk taking pictures of the Code Pink protest at Walter Reed. The one that used to be at the main entrance to the hospital, until they forgot to renew their permit for that location. Now, they've taken to infesting a location down the street, in front of a small sidewalk park, but still in front of the hospital. I had gone down alone, with my camera and tripod to document their little public protest. I had less than...

Starving woman curses God, dies in her sleep Thu Jan 26, 11:41 AM ET NAIROBI (Reuters) - A starving Kenyan woman placed a powerful tribal curse on God, accusing him of sending famine, and died in her sleep, local newspapers said Thursday. The woman from eastern Kenya's drought-ravaged Kangundo district decided to invoke a dreaded oath from the Kamba community, famed for its potent witchcraft, media reports said. "Whoever brought this famine, let him perish," the woman chanted, striking a cooking pot with a stick. "She accomplished the feat at 10 a.m. and waited for the results, but God's wrath...

BUSH SNUBS HELEN THOMAS [AGAIN] Thu Jan 26 2006 15:42:32 2006 President Bush today again avoided taking a question from White House doyenne Helen Thomas during his 45-minute press conference, even though he took questions from every reporter around her front-row, center seat. "He's a coward," Thomas said afterward. "He's supposed to be this macho guy. He'll take on Osama bin Laden, but he won't take me on." Thomas, who worked as the UPI White House reporter for 57 years and is now a columnist, raised her hand every time the president was concluding an answer to a reporter's question,...

Cindy Sheehan went to Caracas, Venezuela to put her thumb in the eye of the Bush administration. She was leading the World Social Forum, a far-left “alternative” to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, to cavort with fellow leftists. Less well known was that her trip was sponsored by the Venezuelan foreign ministry. The price of that was obligatory praise of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, who’s rapidly plunging in the opinion polls for his incompetence and corruption. “I admire President Chavez for his strength to resist the United States,” she said. Sheehan, who knows nothing of Venezuela, was easy to...

Canadians awarded Conservative Leader Stephen Harper with a minority government Monday, putting an end to more than 12 years of Liberal rule. Polls across the country are now closed and results are pouring in. As of 12:10 a.m. ET, the Conservatives were in a commanding lead with 125 seats, compared to 102 for the second place Liberals. But prime minister designate Harper will be denied the 155 seats he will need to lead a Tory majority. In a concession speech in front of a roomful of cheering party faithful in Montreal, Liberal Leader Paul Martin said: "There will be another...

A TAPE recorded by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama Bin Laden’s deputy, was released on the internet this weekend as new details emerged of an American attempt to kill him in an airstrike on a remote Pakistani border village. In the recording Zawahiri praises the actions of Islamic fighters in Afghanistan. The CIA confirmed its authenticity, but was unable to say when it had been made. Its release appears to be part of a fresh Al-Qaeda propaganda offensive to show that the organisation has not been harmed by the American attack on Damadola village near the Afghan border on January 13. when...

Bush’s giant Right Wing Noise Machine (RWNM) loves to preach about the Bush economic miracle. In fact, the RWNM’s current thinking is Bush doesn’t spend enough time talking about his economic triumphs. If only he did, then everyone would fall in line and believe in the great Bush economic miracle. There is one problem with this argument: it’s a lie. Any way you look at the Bush economy, it comes up short. Today, I want to compare Bush’s job creation record with other economic recoveries. As usual, Bush comes up way short. The national Bureau of Economic Research has identified...

About six minutes into the fourth quarter of Saturday's Steelers-Browns game, the fan jumped a railing and sprinted onto the field at Cleveland Browns Stadium. With his pants falling down, the man jumped around, waved his hands in the air and moved toward Pittsburgh's bench -- until James Harrison snatched him from...

After reading all of the crap that people have been saying regarding Adult Private Social Clubs, I felt that I had to post an article and give my opinion. I am sick and tired of all the religous groups that are saying that there are drugs, prostitution, minors, non-consenting people, and just immoral people at these clubs! First of all, who do these people think they are to decide what is morally right or wrong for me? I believe that I have a good set of morals. I am a law abiding, tax paying citizen, I work full time and...

In a broadcast on Israel Channel Two TV, the survivors — some of whom fought in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising — recounted hunting down former SS officers at night. Disguised as British or U.S. officers, they dragged the men out of their...
